Let me tell you a story. Some years back, I was discussing with a senior colleague, a master warrant officer on a related topic. Here's what he told me, "Patrick, Nigerian Navy are magicians. In 19xx, I was serving on a Nigerian Navy Ship without a functioning engine, and a rumor emerged that that ship was going to Liberia. Everyone doubted this, including myself, but guess what? Not up to 48 hours later, we were on our way to Liberia on peace keeping. From only God knows where, they brought and installed 2 new engines, 3 generators and other equipment the ship needs."

All these statistics you quoted up there are important, but are not the only factors that determine who wins at war. Population of able-bodied men (military or civilian) is very important too, and unlike weapons, you cannot grow that in 24 hours. Every sane country recognizes that, and that's the reason they are scared of Nigeria. Even if we don't have the weapons, other countries will provide them. Don't be misled by this boko haram stuff. It's all politics. I'm not agitating for it, but if by happenstance, one crazy general (serving not retired) takes over government, that will be the end of Boko Haram.

Any African country that underestimates the Nigerian military does that at it's own peril.
