Please is it normal for babies to have constant hiccups at close to 40 weeks. My baby gets hiccups normally but it seems to have increased in the past few days (she’s had it about 4 times today already). Please help.

Mama let me share my experience with you, last week Tuesday I woke up not feeling hungry at all, I managed to take very little pap with nothing, in the afternoon I wasn't hungry and I was feeling less concerned about it and going about my normal chores. All of a sudden I started feeling hot and stared sweating, I went to the bathroom took some cold shower and came out but I was still sweating profusely, thank God hubby was around and he said he doesnt understand this type of sweat. He went and put the generator for me and directed the standing fan to me and advised me to lie down, I couldn't even stay up to a minute I got up and started walking about the whole house cos I was so restless and I didn't know what was happening to me. He started asking me what's the problem and I told him am hungry and I want to eat eba, how the young man managed to defrost the soup so quick and make eba before 5 minutes I dont know but before he finished making the eba I saw myself almost finishing 350 naira bread with two cups of milk and one small bottle water. Immediately he brought the eba I jumped on it and within 2 minutes I finished a whole plate of eba, he was just standing looking at me, I washed my hands thereafter and slept till God knows when. My dear since then I don't let myself go hungry again instead I snack in between meals.

Hahahaha, if I be your hubby, I go shifttttt, before you decide that the eba no do you and then you decide to eat me too .

Cappo, when they are head down you feel that pulsating sensation in your jaijana. It's totally different from kicks.

Nne, since it appears you are under a midwife’s care, I would suggest you go to a private laboratory and do your PCV, the essence of knowing your pcv especially now that you are due is to know your blood level before delivery because you are bound to loose some blood during delivery. So if your PCV is already low and you loose blood during delivery, it might be a bit risky. So, if you can, check your PCV, depending on the level, you can work it up if need be.

Why is a midwife handling your pregnancy and not a doctor? Haven't you registered for antenatal?

I doubt if a midwife will demand all these nessesary test. Please do the essential ones especially pvc.

I'm presently 6 weeks and 4 days gone. Went to the hospital last week but was told to come back when i'm 12 weeks to start ante natal. Nothing was carried out on me, is this the norm? When i told the doci was using folic acid, he told me to stop until they give me their prescribed drugs. I was given only PCM when i complained of weakness and body pain.
I need to know if all these are normal. I presently feel severe weakness and headache and i don't have appetite most times, i just eat to fill my stomach. Is there anything i can do or any drugs i can start taking to relieve me of how i feel?

Only God knows how some Doctor pass their medical college, my sister, though I am not pregnant yet, but I can tell that one of the most important drugs not to joke with as a woman is folic acid, please continue taking your folic acid. other preggy mamas will attend to your questions about tiredness once they comes online. Happy and healthy 9 months to you.

Here is a description. I can see it from outside too, I was just wondering if it’s normal at this stage, some sources say it may be a sign of cord compression if it’ s too frequent.

And

Not all babies get hiccups.

Thanks sis, I asked a lady and she said I should go to one balm of Gilead hospital, although she mentioned they are quite expensive but I will go when i have enuf cash, meanwhile I will go for a scan 2moro.

Is UNTH and ESUTH too far from you? Teaching hospital is best for delicate cases but if too far, ask mothers around you for a standard hospital that can monitor and care for you especially cos of your past history. If na Lagos, we will recommend General hospital but it's like those in East hate General hospitals . Maybe you mention your area so Enugu mamas can help more.
Above all, hold on to your God.

In the meantime, you can go for scan by yourself in an independent lab. Take the result to your doc or let the lab technician /radiologist interprete for you there and then or bring it to mamas here. By now, heartbeat should be seen etc. Take care.

All your symptoms are packages of first trimester, so they are normal. It will get better in second trimester.
Folic acid is compulsory at least for the first 12weeks of conception.
Some naija doctors sef.......hmmmm. Happy bumping mama!

If my doctor tells me to stop taking folic acid I'll change hospital
Continue with folic acid and register in another Hosp If possible when you're about 12weeks, that's when most Hosp start antenatal. but if you have any complain don't hesitate to go to the hospital

This is the definition of child spacing. I tried relaxing after my first child in 2017 before this pregnancy, and our Nigerian mothers began to ask me if all is well. Shey one cannot relax again in peace.

1. Antenatal at 12 weeks - yes

2. Stop folic acid - don't try this please, take it religiously

3. Don't take PCM abeg. Instead run a malaria test just to check. if you don't have malaria take the weakness as part of your package. Just eat well and take your folic acid
