High schools in the US have better quality buildings than the ones shown here. The faculty signs and facades look so cheap and antediluvian. It is just so embarrassing and cringeworthy to look at.

Stop praising mediocrity and demand better from your politicians.

Honestly... I feel disgusted by the newer buildings I see in most Unis. It seems like they just called some roadside bricklayers to come mount the blocks and move on.

There was one faculty building in my school they just completed, the pillars were so badly built it was lopsided and the general finish was an eyesore.

Compare it to the walkways they built in 1970s and you would marvel at the difference in quality and works. They just mount stupid blocks everywhere. No creativity, no mixture of other materials except blocks. Like wtf.

To stone you just dey hungry me aswear.
Stone yourself for being daft . PMB projects are in agriculture and mainly up north via CBN
Obj set this up and has been rolling since then .....even in GEJ tenure , many of these were done by Fasola in Lagos ..that doesnt mean it was GEJ project. GEJ never claimed them ....
When you have nothing to show , you claim things that are not yours....
If anyone should claim them , it should be the states because states have to contribute a certain percentage to access these funds . It is not a FG project pls .....
So praise the man in his have the wisdom to set up such a rolling fund .....for all Universities.....

What a mediocre projects.

The white men that bequeathed education to us built imposing and lasting structures that are still standing the test of time. Even if they can't build those kind of structures again what stops them from giving us modern architectural structures?

Nice observation. I recommend a book: " Infrastructures and Amenities in Colonial Northern Nigeria(1903-1960), by Prof. Philip Akpen. That will certainly put an answer to your sarcasm.

young man this is a TETFUND assisted project. its a direct disbursement from the till of Tertiary Education Tax TET (every company in Nigeria is expected to pay 2% of their assessable profit as Education Tax, just so to foster edu development in the country it is a fiduciary Fund held in trust by the FG which disbursement is made to Higher Institutions of learning 50:25:25 ratio for uni, poly, COE respectively on intervals..... so it is not in anyway a FG funding as you have thought!

In addition, that is also one of the Brian child of ASUU struggle in the 90s. When IBB called it ETF to include secondary and primary schools. However, ASUU continued her pursuit until it was appropriately named TETFUND. Most projects in state and federal Universities today are from TETFUND.

Human being is the brain box of a university not structures. A university may have good structures but lack manpower whereas another may have manpower with less structures.

Ignorance will be your undoing....

TETFUND is as a result of ASUU struggles and it is statutory...

Has nothing to do with FG...

It has everything to do with FG

So Oga na you impose the tax or collect the tax? TET is just a tax with a specific use in this case of infrastructural and human development of tertiary institutions. How is it not FG
Tetfund is a Fiduciary fund held in trust by govt. proceeds from that tax do not go to the Development fund or the CRF, it goes to the Tetfund account directly (though the FIRS are the collector) , wich is one of the fund managed by the CBN on behalf of the Board. the disbursement of funds from that account is relatively transparent compare to other funds.

Note: i am not saying there is no corruption in TETFUND

sir next time i suggest you quote a person when you have something meaningful to say. but i spare u for this.

Again... TETFUND is an ACT.... Ambrose Ali is a state University benefitting from it..

Now tell me how the FG is involved with a fund going to State Tertiary institutions?

Go and read more on TETFUND previously called the Education Tax Fund (ETF)

I don hear you Oga Professor.

The Education Tax Act of No7 of 1993 mandated the Fund to operate as an Intervention Fund to all levels of public education ( Federal, State and Local).

The Fund is managed by an eleven (11) member Board of Trustees with members drawn from the six geo-political zones of the country as well as representative of the Federal Ministry of Education, Federal Ministry of Finance and the Federal Inland Revenue Services.

The Board of Trustees has the following responsibilities as stated in the Act:

*Monitoring and ensure collection of Tax by the Federal Inland Revenue Services and ensure transfer to the Fund

*Manage and disburse the Tax
Liaise with appropriate ministries and bodies responsible for collection or safe keeping of the Tax

*Receive request and approve admit table projects after due consideration

*Endure disbursement to various public tertiary education institutions in Nigeria

*Monitor and evaluate execution of projects
Invest funds in appropriate and safe securities

*Update the Federal Government on its activities and progress through annual audited reports among the states of the Federation in case of regular intervention

*Review progress and suggest improvement within the provisions of the Act

*Do such other things that are necessary or incidental to the objective of the Fund under these Acts or as may be assigned by the Federal Government

*Make any issue guidelines, from time to time, to all beneficiaries on disbursement of monies from the Fund on the use of monies received from the Fund

*Generally to regulate the administration, application and disbursement of monies from the Fund under this Act

Do you understand the concept of Statutory transfers?

Do you know the difference between the NEEDs assessment ASUU has been fighting the FG for and TETFUND?

Answer these correctly and we can continue...
