tbaba1234: Very correct and apart from the scandalous 10 : 1 loss to NIGERIA in 1959 when they were formerly known as Dahomey in their biggest defeat to us, it has mostly been a 2 or less Goal Victories for NIGERIA over BENIN REPUBLIC. |

U23 AFCON: SOUTH AFRICA game is a 'must-win' for Nigeria - AZUBUIKE Taiye Taiwo 14/11/2019 AFRICA U23 CUP OF NATIONS The Istanbul Basaksehir midfielder has stated the Olympic Eagles' mission when they take on Amaglug-glug at Al-Salam Stadium Nigeria U23 captain Okechukwu Azubuike has tagged Friday's encounter against South Africa as "a must-win game". Imama Amapakabo’s side needs to beat Amaglug-glug to boost their hopes of qualifying for the semi-final of the Africa U23 Cup of Nations. The Olympic Eagles are placed second in Group B, with a point behind the South Africans, after picking up their first win against Zambia on Tuesday. "It is a must-win for us, we know the importance of the game and we've been working hard in training," Azubuike said in their press conference in Egypt . "Hopefully, tomorrow we are going to come out in our best and then make sure we win the game." Azubuike joined the Olympic Eagles late on Monday after Istanbul Basaksehir held him back for their games in the Turkish Super Lig. After missing the team's 1-0 loss to Ivory Coast , the 22-year-old played a crucial role in helping Nigeria secure a 3-1 comeback win over the Chipolopolo. Azubuike doesn't think his presence in Egypt spurred the country to their first win but attributed the result to the team's effort. "I wouldn't say my presence did a lot because we have good players even without me, we can do something," he added. "I have been in this position before so I had to speak to the boys and we came out to play our best because the country expects that from us. "Going forward, I think with or without me, everybody is important and we can win every game if we want to win and we work very hard." copied from goal com |

As the group B of the 2019 U 23 AFCON finals presently stands, NIGERIA vs SOUTH AFRICA is a must WIN for NIGERIA indeed just like AZUBUIKE posited. Because COTED'IVOIRE is presently 2nd ahead of NIGERIA because of their Head-to-head record of 1 : 0 victory in the first match despite NIGERIA having a 1 Goal difference over them. So, Should both Matches in the group tonight ends up in a Draw or a loss for both sides, Then NIGERIA is out of Tokyo 2020 Olympics. Let alone NIGERIA loses and COTED'IVOIRE Win or Draw. However, A Draw for NIGERIA and a loss for COTED'IVOIRE would see NIGERIA scaling through to the Semi finals as group runner-up

Watching Montenegro against England taught me to respect Gernot Rohr's tactical decisions against big teams. The Montenegro team attempted to match England strength for strength, trying to keep possession and attack when they can, and the result is there for all to see. They played bravely, entertained thier fans, and lost woefully. Rohr would NEVER lose to ANY team by that margin. Call his style boring and conservative, but he has never lost to any team by more than two goals. Not to England, Argentina or Brazil. Rohr may not be dishing out eye-catching fantastic football at the moment, but he certainly gets his results. Please let's respect Gernot Rohr. 22 Likes 2 Shares |

LIFELINE For NIGERIA As SOUTHGATE Snubs TOMORI AGAIN In England Win Published: November 15, 2019 The NFF have been handed a lifeline over their pursuit of young Chelsea defender, Fikayo Tomori after England manager Gareth Southgate failed to utilise him in their European Championship qualifier versus Montenegro on Thursday evening. Tomori, 21 was on the radar of the Nigerian higher-ups prior to his call-ups to play for England, and could have become cap-tied for life to the Three Lions if he played even for a minute in the big win at Wembley. The dual-eligible defender was an unused substitute in each of England's last two qualification games before yesterday's meeting with Montenegro, and he watched on yet again for the entirety of the game, with Joe Gomez, James Maddison and Tammy Abraham coming off the bench as Southgate rang the changes. Thus, he is clearly behind all of Michael Keane, Tyrone Mings, John Stones and Harry Maguire in the pecking order of defenders for England. His international limbo could however, change by Sunday 17th when the Three Lions play Kosovo in a dead rubber, having scaled through the series as group winners, and Southgate could give most of his first team players some rest then. Anglo-Nigerian striker Abraham who became cap-tied to England on October 11th opened his senior international goal account in the 7-0 victory over The Brave Falcons. Emmanuel Chinaza |

Kbs468:Imagine Tomori playing for NIGERIA and also featuring in the OLYMPICS should NIGERIA qualify alongside other Stars presently in the super Eagles eligible Age-wise, That would amount to reminiscing the 1996 Atlanta OLYMPICS Gold winning feat. Addendum : A combination of AINA EKONG AJAYI with a better LB than JEMILU or IDOWU (JEMILU for now since no one else) would be superb for a mid-field Anchorage on NDIDI ETEBO ARIBO MUSA pinpointing a twin strike force of OSIMHEN CHUKWUEZE with SIMON and KALU coming on for CHUKWUEZE & MUSA Would be deadly against LESOTHO come Sunday. Note : The 4 4 2 formation above is premised on the fact that In either of our 4 3 3 or 4 2 3 1 formations being deployed previously, the Wingers have failed to Link up with OSIMHEN- The point Man effectively as they aren't good crossers of the Ball for great pull out domination. Though I would have preferred BALOGUN to EKONG but lack of game time in his Club has been his bane What do you all think about this? Have your say please. 1 Like |
