Watching Montenegro against England taught me to respect Gernot Rohr's tactical decisions against big teams.

The Montenegro team attempted to match England strength for strength, trying to keep possession and attack when they can, and the result is there for all to see. They played bravely, entertained thier fans, and lost woefully.

Rohr would NEVER lose to ANY team by that margin. Call his style boring and conservative, but he has never lost to any team by more than two goals. Not to England, Argentina or Brazil.

Rohr may not be dishing out eye-catching fantastic football at the moment, but he certainly gets his results.

Please let's respect Gernot Rohr.

Well, I'm always 50/50 onnRohr.

However, he is conservative against smaller teams. Against teams he should beat well well.

The just concluded AFCON comes to mind

AFCON Qualifiers: See What Joe Aribo Said Following Super Eagles Victory Over Benin

POST by Joba Ogunwale —

Reactions continue to trail Super Eagles victory over Benin Republic in the AFCON 2021 Group L qualifier that was played at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.

Goals from Victor Osimhen and Samuel Kalu secured the three points for Nigeria after Stephane Sessegnon had put the Squirrels ahead in the 2nd minute.

Following the win, Super Eagles players including Joe Aribo took to their social media pages to express their delight in the victory.

Aribo who was not expected to start after arriving on the eve of the match gave a man of the match performance in what was his first game on home soil.

After the match, the Rangers midfielder took to his Twitter page to express his excitement at the team’s victory.

“Good win in our first AFCON 2021 qualifying game! Always an honour putting on the shirt. Thanks for your amazing support!”, Aribo said on Twitter.

Meanwhile, Gernot Rohr has revealed why the former Charlton man started the game despite arriving on Tuesday. Responding to the question posed by Soccernet.ng Chief Editor, Rohr revealed Aribo told him he is ready to play.

“Aribo told me he was not tired after a long flight, and I have confidence in my players when they tell me they are ready to play,” Rohr began.

“Also his father was here and this his (Aribo’s) second time coming into the country, so it was important for him to play.”

Aribo and the Super Eagles will hope to make it two wins out of two when they take on Lesotho in the second round of matches of Group L.

What a great way to star in one's first match on home soil in the presence of one's Father with a pretty Win over a Stern opposition.

Noting also that it's the second ever home coming for JOSEPH ARIBO.

I agree wholeheartedly with your last paragraph.

He would be a legend for club and country by the time he retires. Many people here may not agree out of sentiments but na the truth be that.

You can't say for sure. He definitely has the talent but he's still young and we've seen a lot of young players who start their footballing careers very well and then due to different factors might not Fully fulfill thier potential. If he's young career is not blighted by injury then he can definitely go all the way

i guess cameroon, ghana and morocco too should go up in flames because they could only draw with benin 1-1 in AFCON.

According to information from CIES Football Observatory, Norway is the most preferred destination for Nigerian footballers.

Of the 327 expatriate Nigerian footballers in 65 associations out of 98, 24 ply their trade in the Norwegian Leagues.

Samuel Adegbenro, Babajide David (both Rosenborg), Jack Ipalibo (Strømsgodset), Akeem Latifu (Mjøndalen), Ifeanyi Matthew (Lillestrom), Leke James (Molde), Igho Ogbu (Sogndal) and Afeez Aremu are some of the Nigerian professional footballers that played for Norwegian clubs in 2019.

Nigeria national-teamers Fegor Ogude, Anthony Ujah and Nosa Igiebor plus former Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel began their careers abroad with Norwegian clubs before transferring to bigger clubs in Europe.

Surprisingly, Nigerian players fancy playing in Bangladesh and the South Asian country is the second-joint importer of Nigerian players along with Scandinavian country Sweden (16).

At least fourteen Nigerian players are on the books of Portuguese clubs including Super Eagles stars Mikel Agu, Nwankwo Obiorah, Tyronne Ebuehi, and Uche Agbo.

Turkey and Latvia are joint-fifth on the list of Nigerian expatriate footballers, with thirteen Nigerian players each playing in the countries.

Why should I compare Naija to Cameroon or Ghana or morocco? Am I a Moroccan, Cameroonian or Ghanaian?

If we can call ourselves giants of Africa, we should dominate.

Oga, quote me directly if you have something to say. Stop this backdoor thing.

I'm not French and thus they have the right to be mediocre and yes, I will make excuses for them.

But for Naija, No way. We have got to be better and yes it is possible. Algeria got transformed almost overnight by a determined coach. I'd like to see that from Rohr. Won't be surprised of Algeria makes it to the quarter final in Qatar.
