Nice question you've asked here, just noticed the post.
In these type of war we need more of MRAPs/LAV and more of IFV in wheeled and tracked variant.
But has the arm of the military tasked with securing land/border and to defend their nation from external attack and deter or attack would-be enemies. The realization of this function primarily entails the preservation of the territory, people, culture and the national security of the nation. Therefore we will need such military assets, we shouldn't wait till it happens, if we be learnt our lessons from 2009 BH uprise

where are the gatling guns, the army chief said were bought, some years back....is it audio buying?

who ever saw it, should please take 1 step forward and identify....2 of this guns each, at each fob , would go a long way, in beating back BHT, assaults

You surely must have seen me argue about its need in the war against BH.

But still, we can't lose conventional capability because we fight a present unconventional foe

Definately it can still be fixed.

Have you seen the structural damage on the image? Helicopters are also made of composite materials, you cant fix them like a car by just putting a patch over broken parts. An airframe is stressed extremely during each flight, even hairline cracks will finally damage the aircraft in short time if not found. (Thats why they do these X-ray inspections during their servicetimes)

Hopefully it can be overhauled.Since (1) Most of our Engineers know the aircraft type
(2) The most damage was in the tail section of the Aircraft

This!!!

Not to mention the engine will also be damaged beyond(affordable) repair.... Would be cheaper and better just to cannibalise what still can be used as spares

I agree 100% however I do feel Nigeria don't have any credible conventional threats at this moment to warrant spending money on tanks!! Personally I would rather see that money spent on assets that would be better suited for battling unconventional threats..... However I would definitely advocate the purchase of 4th gen multi role fighters like the Jf17(more than 3 though) which won't only be a great conventional deterrent but will also be a great force multiplier when battling irregular forces as well.

fixing gatling guns at FOBs won't change a thing.i would prefer a GPMG over a gatling gun.a gatling gun has a higher risk of getting over-heated than a GPMG.

NAF kills ISWAP fighters, recover four gun trucks

The Nigerian Air Force has killed scores of Islamic State West African Province terrorists in the Mallam Fatori area of Lake Chad in Borno State, and demobilised four of their gun trucks.

According to the military, the ISWAP commanders were tracked by the Air Task Force of Operation Lafiya Dole and troops of the Nigerian Army, 89 and 97 Task Force Battalions of Sector 3 during a joint operation on Wednesday.

While the NAF aircraft provided close air support and Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance platform, the troops engaged the terrorists, forcing them to retreat into the bushes....read more

In less than 24 hours NA Don vex o grin
*PRESS RELEASE*

*NIGERIAN ARMY TROOPS RECORD A SECOND SUCCESSIVE VICTORY AGAINST BOKO HARAM CRIMINAL ELEMENTS IN MALAM FATORI WITHIN 24 HOURS*

In what could be adjudged as another futile revenge mission, some uncoordinated and cowardly remnants of the Boko Haram/ISWAP criminal elements staged yet another unsuccessful attack on the location of the troops of 64 and 98 Task Force Battalions and elements of the Armed Forces Special Forces Battalion at Malam Fatori in Abadam LGA of Borno State. It could be recalled that on 13th November 2019, some marauding Boko Haram criminal elements attempted to infiltrate the troops’ location by launching an unsuccessful attack with Person Borne Improvised Explosive Devices (PBIEDs), Gun Trucks, Rocket Propelled Guns and other small arms but were decisively annihilated, having been made to suffer very high casualties in both men and equipment.

Within less than 24 hours of their devastating defeat however, the outgunned criminal insurgents launched another desperate attack on the highly spirited troops of Mallam Fatori in the wee hours of today, 15 November 2019.
In their swift and highly coordinated response, the gallant and relentless troops at the location once again brought their resilience, bold action and superior fire power/lethality to bear on the criminal insurgents as they handed them another crushing defeat. At the end of this particular encounter, one Boko Haram Gun Truck was completely burnt along with 3 of the criminal insurgents that were trapped in it.
Apparently, the vehicle was gutted by fire as a result of the high volume of fire delivered by the troops. Furthermore, 2 of the Boko Haram criminal elements were equally neutralised during the ensuing gun battle between the troops and the criminal insurgents. Some of the equipment captured from the criminal insurgents during this futile mission include one Anti-Aircraft Gun, one Anti-Aircraft Gun barrel, 8 AK 47 Riffles, one Rocket Propelled Gun tube, 3 AK 47 magazines, one bandolier, 2 rounds of Anti-Aircraft Gun ammunition and one Rocket Propelled Grenade bomb. Subsequently, the Air Task Force, Operation LAFIYA DOLE went on the trail of the routed remnants of the insurgents to ensure their total obliteration. Regrettably, 2 gallant soldiers sustained gunshot wounds during this encounter. Both of them have already been stabilized and are already responding positively to treatment at a military hospital.

The Theatre Commander, Operation LAFIYA DOLE Maj Gen Olusegun Adeniyi on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Tukur Yusufu Buratai once again conveys his message of encouragement to the troops for a job well done. He further enjoins them to continue to mount pressure on the insurgents until they are forced to total submission.

You are please requested to disseminate the above information to the general public for awareness. Thank you for your usual cooperation.

Upon all the images and videos showing the Nigerian military carrying out counter terrorist operations in Northern Borno, @Samuelanyawu would come here and tell us it is the military of Chad that is carrying out 90% of all operations in Northern Borno.

People just lie for no reason.

Bruz not so at all, unconventional war of BHT killing us wit conventional weapons, ISWAP Anti-Tank RPG (likely Tandem HEAT) is killing all our APC, MRAP, T-72M1, Vickers tanks.

Nigerian army needs 500 ARA MRAP, 1,000 MT-LB IFV twin barrel 23 mm to dominate 150,000 km² landmass N.E. wit theatre wide swarm of 1,500 vehicles $400 m cheap.

Plus NA needs CT-COIN speedy light tanks ERA-Ceramic mix armour to defeat ISWAP Anti-Tank RPG, light MBT like VT5 runs 70-90 kmh (varies HP) sees 7-10 km long range night thermal vision to beat Boko Haram dark night attacks, our army MUST see BHT far beyond AFSF SBS weak NVG 200 metres to win dis war. 5 battalions of VT5 high speed mini-tanks, $300 m cheap 150 CT-COIN tanks impregnable to any ISWAP weapon, den Nigeria STRATEGICALLY ends BH insurgency finally, wit total costs only $700 million cheap for 1,650 game changer 500 MRAP 1,000 IFV 150 light MBT.

ROYAL AIR FORCE COMMENCES FP-CAGE TRAINING FOR ANOTHER BATCH OF NAF PERSONNEL IN KADUNA

The British Military Advisory Training Team (BMATT) has commenced the training of a fresh batch of 758 Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Regiment and Air Provost personnel in Force Protection in Complex Air-Ground Environment (FP-CAGE). The one-month long FPCAGE Course 9/2019, which commenced on 4 November 2019, is being conducted by a team of Royal Air Force (RAF) Regiment instructors at the Regiment Training Centre (RTC), NAF Base Kaduna. The course is aimed at building additional capacity to ensure the protection of NAF Bases and assets as well as other critical national aviation-related facilities, like airports, with a view to further bridging the gap between Air Power projection and Air Power protection.

While undertaking an assessment of the ongoing training, the Air Officer Commanding Ground Training Command (AOC GTC), Air Vice Marshal Idi Amin, who was received by the Commandant RTC, Group Captain Isaac Subi, expressed satisfaction with the progress of the training and urged the participants to make the most use of the opportunity given to them for being selected for the course. He emphasized that, upon completing the course on 6 December 2019, they would be expected to add significant value to ongoing internal security operations across the Country.
