They re planning ahead for their impending demotion to the championship. From reports so far from Germany okoroji is doing very well in the Bundesliga 2

Hmm makes sense Sha. A January move would give him time to settle too.

Na ceremonial invite at this point. When Uzoho was injured against Brazil, Rohr fielded an 18-year old Okoye ahead of him

Man wasn't even in the last matchday squad

Who cares if it is ceremonial or not? Does he not receive his match day bonus? He does, thousands of US dollars for that matter. If your defence is that it is a ceremonial invite then that is just rubbish.

Excluding me because I never expected anything from the team.

Also the competition served as an eye opener to folks who over hype certain players.

Atleast Rohr and his team
will be appreciated a bit by the nay sayers who re currently in sifia pain grin

Hope alloy agu and imama is not part of that team....
They're both disgrace to indigenous coaches

Ezenwa's involvement with the team is as a back up goalie. Since he has been inactive how many games has he played for the super eagles?

Carry your sentimental excuse shift abeg.

So your problem is not 'inviting' inactive players but playing them?

All those trying to have a field day with Kelechi Nwakali.... You guys are just adorable. grin

The lad gave as good as he got after being inactive for months. The lad is clearly talented and can have a great future but just needs to resume his "club career" now and get back to optimum match fitness. Kelechi can still come good and he did a decent job in this tournament judging by his inactive situation.
As for players you could have invited instead of him... Well then... That is where Imama has his faults. He did not do his calculations well enough to have enough firepower and better quality till the 19th.

I said days ago... The U-23s we paraded in Egypt do not even make the Top 20 U-23 talents we have abroad.

And Azubuike Okechukwu is not a bad player. That lad is very decent. He can be better if he keeps his head down.

The team crashing out today is down to Imama and dare I say, the attack we paraded. Awoniyi... And especially Faleye missed big chances.

If Faleye converted that free header in the dying
Mins, there won't be a meltdown here.

Even if we had qualified... It changes not the fact that we paraded our weakest ever U-23 team at this tournament. Probably weaker than the 2011 set.

SMH so like play like play, we failed to qualify for the Olympics??
An opportunity to see and blend together our best young talents gone to waste. The Olympics would've done us a whole world of good with the WC only 2 years away after that.
Imama well done... Weeeeeell dooooneeeee!!

Are you trying to ignore the fact that an inactive player for the past 10 months was not only invited to the u23 team but was featured on a regular basis and also made the assistant captain?

I have never even liked the continuous inclusion of Ezenwa in the super eagles but his case is different from that of Xavi new mikel Nwakali because he has never manned the goal post for the super eagles since he has been inactive.

Not with the current coaching crew. They have a history of not inviting the best players even when they could.
But surely and certainly, If we had qualified, NFF officials would have taken over the list of invitees for the next OLYMPICS ooo because I'm very sure they wouldn't want to leave the selection to the mercy of the present Crew.

Lol.... I have no problem with calls for Imama's sack. My own concern was with the boys.

Anyway, come to think of it... Had we made it to Tokyo 2020, would we have paraded the best of our U-23 talents? You remember how the 2016 edition panned out. Even Mikel was victimised because he insisted on playing at the Olympics.
One thing for sure, the team would have been better than what we brought to Egypt but I doubt that would be close to our best too on display as clubs will stubbornly refuse to release most of our top U-23 talents because of preseason and the likes.

All the same shaa... I also blame Terzurum5 grin for seeing before everyone else that Tokyo 2020 will not be our focus on this thread. He did not include it in the thread's title modification during the thread renaming period. I remember I said Tokyo 2020 should be included... But somehow, it skipped his mind and me sef... I left it like that... Perhaps the inner me also saw this coming from afar... grin

I don't know the lad personally but his talents have long gotten my notice. I am not giving up on the lad. The fact you have given up does not mean he has lost it entirely. Let the lad be finished before you finally bury him. He is still 21.

Who says Huesca is his last chance? This is football. You never can tell all the time. I remember you were among those who approved Henry's move to Monaco with you very certain he could take a starting spot and smash the league but see how wrong we all have been proven on that move. Your dislike for anything Turkey didn't make you consider that perhaps Galatasaray is best for him plus the lure of UCL football. But now here we are...
I am sure in your mind, you had certified that move one of the best moves. wink

Now you are passing judgment again... Let Nwakali land in Spain first before you bury am Biko.

At least I believe my Super Eagles will give me Joy on Sunday.

I can endure the Tokyo 2020 Olympics football event without Nigeria taking part. We should be there but well... From that first game, it was already goodbye. Beating Zambia just delayed the inevitable.
The most important thing is we have enough young quality talents in our pool. Missing the 2020 Olympics football event does not hide that fact.

I do wonder what good local coaches I can trust with our age grade teams now. All just seem to have one skeleton or the other, which each one rivalling the other for how big their skeletons actually are. Na wa.

Anybody that wants the improvement of our players will always pray they move to leagues where they will have the opportunity to play with the best and improve their game.

No right thinking fan who knows the game will advise onyekuru to choose Galatasaray instead of Monaco.

Mind you I never said playing for the likes of gala fernebache or besiktas is not good enough but against out players joining Turkish middle and bottom table teams.

Atleast you can see how much the likes of omeruo and ekong have improved in just a season playing in the LA liga and Serie A

Your first paragraph is very true. We want our players playing in the best leagues. It shows in their game and definitely the players are never the same compared to the first day they made the step up.

I am just showing you that all is not set in stone that once he makes that move to a better league, then viola! He begins making headlines. Things could go wrong as we have seen with Henry and even before that, Iheanacho (Post-Pellegrini).

I know it is the beastly talents Nwakali has and seeing how he is struggling to get his club career right that is driving you mad. You just can't seem to bear how such a player with such genuine talents is struggling to truly rise.

I can understand that... But I impore you to just be a bit more patient. Let us see how his Spanish odyssey at Huesca turns out.

He can fight but the form of Ben Yedder and Slimani aren't making it easy. Even Keita Balde and the other wide players are preferred by Jardim.

More on fighting, Iheanacho is fighting but it is a losing battle he fights trying to displace Vardy.

Onyekuru may have to return to that comfort zone before launching out into another dare zone.

Oga you cant compare nwakali's woes to that of Henry and Iheanacho. Atleast Henry and nacho have at one point made themselves counted among the best in England turkey and Belgium whereas Nwakali is yet to do anything since leaving the shores of Africa for Europe for the past 3- 4 years now.

Iheanacho was once rated along side Rashford in the epl after his good performances as a wonder kid for city prior guadiola's hiring. Even when he wasn't deemed good enough by pep Leicester signed him for over 20m pounds.

Even now he is still linked with possible moves to decent clubs with Newcastle and besiktas trying to get him by jan

Onyekuru on his path destroyed the Belgian top flight on 2 different stints, first with eupen and then giants Anderlecht.
He proceeded to the Turkish league and also did very well with double digits of goals before leaving for Monaco.

Iheanacho also have a good goals scoring record in the national team. So there is no way you can compare nwakali to the both of them

I once compared Nwakali to Rabiu Ibrahim. Looking at the latter's exploits in Champions League qualification, and now Europa League, I must say Rabiu has just set a high bar for Nwakali.
They are not age mates, granted, but one has NEVER made the mark. Let's pray he does one day.

On Taiwo Awoniyi,

If he is ever going to fulfill his potentials, he needs to go to a team in a top 5 league that will truly play him. His agent should find him a decent team in a top 5 league that will give the lad ample opportunities. Perhaps, in France. Who knows?

He had had two good loan spells in Belgium. Very productive ones. Now in Germany, he hardly sees game time and the lad has the build we would be glad to have in that striking dept.

It is not enough being called a Liverpool player, he needs to really find a team that will give him the opportunity he craves to smash it big in a Top 5 league. If it means cutting off from Liverpool, then so be it.

He is still young but mehn.... His Mainz spell is frustrating so far.

The lad needs to leave the MLS Biko. He needs to continue his development in a decent Euro football environment and not in Yankee land where Football (Soccer to them) is kinda easy.

I know he was on loan from Bologna but Biko, he should never again go on loan to the U.S. Never!

nacho and onyekuru are struggling currently while nwakali is yet to do anything since moving to europe which is close to 4 years now if well calculated.

at least nacho have 2 goals in 2 games this season while onyekuru few times have made monaco's match day squad in ligue 1. to some teams both are known qualities who can still attract decent clubs from top leagues in europe unlike nwakali who is still basking on the euphoria of his exploits at the u17 level 4 years ago.

if monaco and leicester decide to sell nacho and onyekuru today they will get at least 10m each for both unlike nwakali who was released by arsenal cheesy cheesy cheesy cheesy
