At least we now know that Azubuike and Awoniyi are not ready to step up to the Super Eagles.

Rohr has taken us to 55%. What we need now is a coach that will take us to 85% and above.
What I mean is winning the nations cup 2 or 3 times and getting to tje semi finals of the world cup. Players like chidera ejuke and Alhassan Yusuf should be invited to see what they can offer. We need to take things to the next level.
LMAO, lofty height but I like your dreams

You go uniben?

Unfortunately did not have tjat privilege but my older brother did and a lot of my classmates. My Uncle lectured there as well as way too many of my cousins and so it's a place I went to quite a lot.

I was sent screaming and crying to university in England.

That’s the most important question and I don’t have any answers. We will probably have to learn lessons like this over and over again before people actually understand that we need to change.

My very basic view is that until the people change we are stuck with this situation for a long time to come.

The rulers of a nation often reflect the people of that nation.

U think say na everybody wey dey here dey watch Ball?

The championship lacks quality but very physical and intense. The league itself is like a war zone where there is little room for pretty football which is the reason they usually frustrates epl teams in cup games.

I never believed that a player like ejaria who looks fragile could cut it in the championship but his dominance so far in midfield battles this season have proved me wrong.

I don't think the term is quality but technicality.

But it's also a paradox, because the Championship is so physical it's very difficult to play technical on the deck skilful football.

However, it's also the best place to do it because if you can some how overcome the, intensity speed, hatchet men, the kick and follow, fight for the ball mentality, as well as the guys trying to break your legs and play skillfully when you go to the EPL you will find it much much easier.

It's the perfect training ground to excel in any other league.

Classic examples, Tomori, Maddison, Holgate, Tega, Mings, Gomez , Ademola, Pukki, Vardy, etc, etc.

Very soon it seems we will have Ajayi in the EPL he was the most outstanding player for Rotherham now at WBA. And in his best position CB.

I will not be suprised to see Dominic joining him in the EPL too.

At this point, Osimhen is miles better than Awoniyi. We saw what Osimhen brought to the under 23 when he played. I do not hold out much hope for the likes of Awoniyi and Nwakali, right now. I still rate Iheanacho far above Awoniyi. Iheanacho has scored whenever he was given a chance this season.

Really!? Was there ever a time you hold up hope for Awoniyi? I can still vividly remember how you told us he can not do well in the Belgium Pro League like Dessers did then but the boy proved you wrong big time.

The bolded is funny. You mean the EFL cup against Luton and Burton? grin grin grin grin

What did he do last season when he was given the chance in the EPL? cheesy grin

That kid is super strong and robust. I have had the opportunity to see few of his games this season and I must confess he impressed me so much.

Even with the robust nature of the championship he still have that confidence of showing off incredible skills every weekend.

I pointed it our few weeks ago after watching him and Eze that he seem more complete and versatile than the qpr play maker.

Ovie reminds me of a young Paul pogba emerging from man united's academy many years ago but he is more pacy and hard working than the French midfield maestro.

Ovie is too good to remain in the championship beyond this season. Even if he can't get an epl team to sign him he should move to the French or German league. Kid is super talented

He may be called back to Liverpool fc that will not be shocking, it's probably more likely now.

On the other hand he's a great guy humble and diligent, well liked by all the coaches.

ROHR’S SUPER EAGLES POLICY RESPONSIBLE FOR OLYMPIC DISASTER?
opera.com

Friday marked the end of a terrible year for Nigerian football, as the under 23 national team drew 0-0 with South Africa, a result that saw them eliminated from the race to the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

A disjointed performance by the Eagles saw them fail to create significant goalscoring chances of note. And on the rare occasions when they did, a combination of bad decisions in the final third, and their own profligacy combined to deny them even the slightest chance of a sniff of goal.

The worst of the lit came with time running down when Taiwo Awoniyi picked out substitute Sunday Faleye at the back stick with time and space only for him yo head wide with the goal and its keeper at his mercy.

While there was hope that this team would at least make it to the semifinal and give themselves a chance to get to Japan, the reality was that they never stood a chance.

Imama Amapakabo did not get the players he wanted for this tournament. Those he did get, were simply not good enough or not playing enough at their clubs. And it showed. Kelechi Nwakali, for all his talent, was a liability rather than an asset for one and a half games, clearly needing match time.

Same thing applied to Taiwo Awoniyi, whose lack of game time at Mainz 05 was plain to see. Most of the others huffed and puffed and failed too blow anything down. Of the team’s key components, only captain Azubuike Okechukwu looked decent enough to wear the green and white shirt.

It is a disappointing end for Nigeria, a country with some of the best under 23 players on the continenty. Infact, most of the entire Super Eagles squad is composed of players under the age of 23 who would have been real contenders at the Games.

From goalkeepers Francis Uzoho (21) and Maduka Okoye (20), defender Chidozie Awaziem (22), midfielder Wilfred Ndidi (22) and forwards Samuel Kalu (22), Samuel Chuwkueze (20) and Victor Osimhen (20).

Osimhen, Awaziem and Uzoho were particularly critical to the team’s qualifying run to the Afcon tournament when they did play. But, apart from Uzoho who is injured, and Okoye who was called up straight to the Super Eagles, the others would have made a world of difference to this team’s qualifying race.

Unfortunately, Rohr’s policy of calling up, and making young players the fulcrum of his Super Eagles squad in combination with CAF’s decision to schedule their qualifiers and tournament at the same time as the senior team, has hurt the Olympic Eagles. Fatally.

So the best under 23 players were not available to represent the country and try to qualify for the Olympic Games. Meaning they will also miss a chance to show their worth at that level.

Not that Rohr’s strategy is a bad one, mind. It helps build a Super Eagles team that will last for at least a decade.

The problem, the real problem, is with the conveyor belt that processes talent out of Nigeria.

And the proof is right in our faces. The Olympic Eagles loss follows swiftly on the back of failures by the other national teams across the board, all in the last few months of the year.
The domestic players lost out over two legs to Togo in the race to qualify for the African Nations Championship. By the slim margin of one goal. One goal.

This followed the same team getting beaten by both Togo and then Cape Verde in the WAFU Cup.

Paul Aigbigun’s under 20 team were unceremoniously dumped out in similar fashion, as did the under 17 team at the World Cup.

The the Super Falcons, who had dominated Africa for years, were also eliminated from Olympic qualifying by Cote d’Ivoire.

Oh, and as an aside, Amapakabo has now set the dubious record of being the first Nigerian coach to fail with three national teams in record time. His list of infamy includes the CHAN Eagles, WAFU Eagles and now U23 Eagles.
His future as an international coach does not exactly look bright.
At least, not right now.

Who wrote this trash,so Rohr is at fault, what if rohr had left those players to go to the under 23 and lost the game to Benin, this person wee still open his nonsense mouth and insult him for not calling our best players,if he calls players diff from the one he has been calling, they wee still cry that rohr doesn't know what he doing, for the past 3yrs he is still rebuilding, he doesn't know his starting 11,some people need slap

You said you knew Barkley Ok, Did you conduct the interview ❓ Because, what's the relevance of your statement " l knew Barkley in 2013"

Then your following statements tell us nothing of substance with regards to the interview.

What exactly is your point, your critics of what defines knowing a person has no minimal or substantial value....

The whole proposition of knowing in this context can be from a distance, can be close and can be by accidental stumble.

By having read about him, I took an immediate interest upon the character, thus knowing him more through that.. I never need to allude to speaking directly with him to say I know him.

Barkley, I paraphrase, said he could play for either Nigeria or England. This was in 2013. Now what is twisted about this that you cannot unwrap?

His Dad is mixed race with a Nigerian Father and a white mother. His Dad is half Nigerian in thay regard but Ross has a white mother.

His Dad unfortunately is an alcoholic and has little or no understanding of Nigeria. Ross himself is typical scouser and knows nothing about Nigeria and has no affinity with anything Nigerian.

So that idea that he looks up to Victor Moses is just not true. Even the Nigerian and African players in Everton don't really jell with him from an African perspective.
