No. Argentina actually won it in 2017 and for the second time in 2019.

Brazil had won it 4 times out of 6 editions with the tournament failing to hold in 2013 & 2016

So why the noise this time around or he was not part of the 2017 squad?

I know all about that. They speak about it that way because of their eternal rivalry with Brazil. Doesn't change the fact it is just a FIFA Grade A Friendly.

Yes and It's also because of the increasing pressure on MESSI especially after another failure in Russia 2019 World Cup for himself and ARGENTINA because their Victory over the same Brazil in 2017 wasn't hyped as such.

In other words, MESSI is only winning it for the second time out of 6 attempts.

But this is absolute madness.

Just arriving for a match taking place in the next 24 hours at 5:00 pm? Because it's just about 15 minutes to 5:00 pm by my time piece now

The Super Classico is like the Mandela Cup. Both international friendly cup games taking place between two teams. Both don't count when we talk of Major International football trophies/honors.

Nigeria beat Argentina 4-1 in 2011 and there was a cup attached to the game. The "Guinness the match" cup as it was facilitated by Guinness. Does it make it "a major international trophy" too?

The Euro Nations league title is recognised by UEFA and FIFA as a major international title. The Super Classico, like the Mandela Cup, is recognised by FIFA as Grade A Friendlies. Chikena.

The Superclasico is even between BRAZIL & ARGENTINA ONLY and no other country is expected to participate in.

It has held 6 times in 8 years with BRAZIL winning 4 times against ARGENTINA'S 2

Please,. like I posited the other day about NFF officials visiting us in here at any given time that might be unknown to us all,

And Interestingly the time could be now that the Nigerian football is in crisis and chaotic at present,

So, We should learn to be Civil always with the choice of Our words even if being provoked by the other. We should learn to ignore such provocation and replying with similar unprintable words too

As this is the ONLY WAY we can be taken seriously with our participation, deliberations and contributions in here because whether we like it or not,

They would always come around as the NAIRALAND NIGERIAN FOOTBALL SUPPORTERS AWARDS being organized for the second time running will ultimately endear them to this community of ours certainly.

Thanks all as we comply accordingly by everyone of Us in here

Why is it that you GHANIANS and SOUTH AFRICANS can't post or comment on any[ b] NIGERIAN FORUM[/b] without displaying that element of Rivalry?

Somehow only said something about how the Argentines were relating to the Superclasico Victory as if it's a World Cup triumph over BRAZIL

And all you could do is to reflect on Ghana and Nigeria? Instead of a simple affirmation to that which was passed out to him?

I get.

imagine as great as he's, only having youth graded trophies and medals for your country .

Na real nightmare

I think he has gotten to up to 4 finals and lost all

sad tales.
Sad Tales indeed full of nightmares like you pointed out.

Although ARGENTINA won it in 2017 too but he wasn't the Goal scorer unlike in 2019 that was a rebound from a missed penalty by himself against ALISON BECKER making it 2 wins in 3 years

Hence the seriousness with the celebration

.......In addition, Lionel Messi experienced a quiet game as Argentina ended bitter rivals Brazil's nine-game winning run in front of 95 000 fans in Melbourne, Australia.

2018 edition was in SAUDI ARABIA. Same as that of 2019.

previous editions had also taken place in CHINA and on home/away basis
