NairobiWalker:You need to calm down . your emotional inteligence is getting depressed. 2.5 million slums dweller in 2014 might not neccasrily be the same as 2019. Argue from that figure it will make you a little more inteligent. the square kilometre with population size you have For the the whole Nairobi suggest Nairobi Is a pack sardine where human are squeaing to fit each other . since the slums are most the largest concentration of poor individual. it make more sense to suggest kibera slums might have reduce but not as much.... The ugly incidence here is simply because of your national statistics authority . it has decided not to let the world know the ugly truth. 1 Like |

vaxx2: Stop using too many words to say very little. Didn't you say there are 2.5M people in Kibera slum? Isn't the area of Kibera slum 2.5 sq. km? Let's start from there. PS...............It is pretty clear that you're incapable of visualizing what 6000 people per square km is but that is a very low figure in the context of city population density. For comparison, the population density of Lagos is 6800 people per square km. Meanwhile, what you are suggesting for Kibera is impossible and I already gave you the total population of Kibra subcounty as 185k. I don't even understand what you are arguing about. |

NairobiWalker:You are idiot. USA, France, Austria a redominated their currency. it was simply a target to remove paper money volume and demonsrate the real value of the money based on purchasing power value and the control of inflation.. The redenomination was carried out as part of the government’s efforts to convince citizens and markets that hyper-inflation is a thing of the past. Inflation was as high as 116% in 1977, 117% in 1981 and 123% in 1983. Now inflation has been reduced to 7.6. will it not be intelligent to reduce the money volume and give it is actual rate.... 1 Like |

vaxx2: Stop getting emotional. I have no problem with you redenominating your money, but you can't come and boast here how your money is more valuable than ours when you redenominated it. The most interesting thing is, immediately after redenomination, the Cedi exchange at Kshs. 75 per Cedi. Currently it is a mere Kshs. 18 per cedi. Within the next 10 years, the Kenya shilling will already be stronger than the Cedi. |

7.6% inflation is cooked...like anything Ghana is doing nowadays. You're just busy re-basing - shifting the scale. But you cannot cook fundamentals. "The rate was calculated after the base year for the consumer price index was changed to 2018 from 2012. The new basket has 307 items compared with 267 before" https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2019-09-18/ghana-s-much-lower-inflation-rate-may-not-be-enough-to-cut-rates While the new number raises the probability of policy being eased “changing only the base year does not influence the underlying price pressures in the economy, so one has to be very careful when interpreting the new figures,” Cobus de Hart, chief economist for west, central and north Africa at NKC African Economics in Paarl, South Africa, said in an emailed response to questions. “What is important though, is the outlook for inflation, and in this regard price pressures are still balanced to the upside. The old rate reported for July was 9.4% after price growth started edging upward from a low of 9% in January. Government Statistician Samuel Kobina Annim didn’t provide revised inflation data for previous months and said comparative figures will only be released from next month. “The new rebased number is lower than anticipated,” Ridle Markus, a Johannesburg-based Africa Strategist at Absa Bank Ltd., said by phone. “Despite the new rebased inflation coming in lower the central bank will still leave rates unchanged given that there are risk associated with the currency and other global uncertainties.” vaxx2: 1 Like |

rvp20182:The only problem about you is you inefficiency in reasoning, lower inflation isnt the only factor to contro interest rate. theybare more to it as the amount of cash you have in your cover to stabilized continuous growth and the all overall economic performance... if there is anything cooked , it will be. from the known corrupt nation called Kenya.... You have stupidly rebased your economy for about 7 times. you were doing so poorly way behind Ghana in 2013 and fastforward 2014 , you suddenly bypass Ghana with your tea and flower economy .... 1 Like 1 Share |

Let me school you. Central Bank's job is to worry about what Inflation, Interest rate or etc mean to the economy Prof. Samuel Kobina Anim your Chief Statistician should not care about that. He should calculate inflation as it is. In this case - Inflation drops from 9.4% to 7.6% - not because prices of goods and services in Ghana are not increasing in prices monthly - but because he changed the base year to last year. That ordinarily won't be a problem but when you start re-basing 5yrs after another big re-base and start also changing inflation basket and series....then that is playing with Stats..like Yemi Kale does in Nigeria. In short the reality in Ghana is inflation is NOT DROPPING..it has increased from 9% to 9.4% this year and if old series is used..it probably heading to double-digit --- and this just underlying inflation. Food inflation is at nearly 15% - how are you Ghanians able to survive...I mean those without families abroad who receive remittance. vaxx2: 2 Likes |

GDP declining from 63B to 49B - happens only when GDP is over-cooked or a war ravages the country or huge disaster breaks out. Your chief stats are playing politics with numbers. Look at them playing with the inflation rate so it doesn't touch the redline of 10% - that would alert the IMF to start packing their bags for yet another rescue operation in ACCRA. But you cannot cook the CEDIS against the USD Just30: 1 Like |
