Do you think these are genuine mobil 1 and Castrol from USA or not?

My brother, I can't tell my just looking at it .. Have said that several times.. I was also informed by knowledgeable source. That there is foil or seal that covers the oil from spilling .. That seal has been very hard to duplicate....

If u like sell ur Mobil for 5k,i won't buy. I dnt follow d crowd. There are other brands that serve same purpose. Fact that u only have Mobil and Castrol does not mean they are d best.

When you compare quality and affordability .. They are one of the best out there... even if I decide to import the best oil or one of the best oil Royal Purple.. How many can afford it ?

You are only selling a product and you don't understand the technicality. I expect you to learn from those who know better than you rather than you defending the indefensible because you want to make money. May I ask you what is mobil1 TBN.

Mobil 1 data sheet does not specifiy TBN. Follow this link to understand what TBN is? Mobil 1 data heet does not have TBN.

https://www.amsoil.com/newsstand/articles/what-is-total-base-number/

Also mobil 1 has much sulphur ashes (0.8%) than Favoil (0.6%). I will repeat again, I am not here to sell a product neither am I here to spoil your business. If you want to defend or sell a product, I will advise that you prove your knowledge and rightly divide the word of truth Tim 2:15

So sulphur content is the only thing you can point out.. Now does Favoil meet or exceeds the following.. It is a simple yes or no..

Please note that I am not in this forum to discredit any engine oil or promote any other brand of engine oil. If you refer to my earlier post, I only asked for advise. Upon using the product, I was satisfied and decided to upload my experience.

Below is data sheet for both oils and I expect experts to analyse both data sheets and compare

It is one thing for a product to exceed specifications and it is another to meet specification... Favoil meets some certain specification... while Mobil 1 exceeds those specification..... Honestly dru 23, I should have stopped responding to you if we were in a private conversation but because this is a public forum I will respond because the public deserves the truth. The bible says “My people perish because of lack of knowledge”. I will repeat again that you are only interested in selling and not providing a service. You import engine oil at $22 (#7960) from US and sell to Nigeria at #17,500. You are only interested in making profit and you don’t understand the product you are selling. I will advise that you do some research on the internet to understand the oil you are selling.
Now going back to your question; you circled a part of mobil 1 data sheet and asked that does Favoil meets the following specification.

ACEA -A1/B1, A5/B5
API - SN, SM, SL, SJ

ACEA means (Association des Constructeurs Europeens d'Automobiles) represents the interests of European vehicle manufacturers. But remember at the beginning of the discussion you said and European oil cannot be used for American spec car and now you are referring to European spec. For you information Favoil meets C3 specification which is superior to A1/B1, A5/B5. Please note that Mobil 1 also have C3 specification which is more expensive that A1/B1, A5/B5 but you traders tend to import the cheap ones as long as it is mobil 1.
API – SN, SM, SL,SJ. The highest API specification for petrol engines is SN, (SM, SL, SJ are older versions). A new specification SP is due for release in May 2020 by API. You might wonder where I got all these information from; it is because I do a lot of research to understand what I buy. Favoil has both SN/CF (latest dual certification for petrol and diesel engines).

What the hell.. You traders tend to import the cheap ones? Smh lol ... Mobil 1 extended performace is the most expensive Mobil 1 brand sold in the USA ... that is why I import it compare to the regular Mobil 1 which cost less ..

Mind you USA engine oil is speficially for petrol engines alone... not petrol and diesel... it is again speficially for petrol engine, even the manufacture of the engine states that .

If you understand business very well , you know that importing this prouduct is very expensive.. Maybe you try import $10k dollars of worth of oil .. Who pays for shipping? Lol funny guy ....if Mobil 1 is sold for example $22.00 ,so how much you should be sold in Nigeria bro.. 7k naira .....funny guy grin.. Yes this is public forum let us discuss it out there.. There is nothing am hiding ..As a matter of fact my prices are the cheapest out there, that is the Mobil 1 Extended Performance, which is normally sold for about on average 23k Naira ...
Now the 17k naira Mobil 1 which is also import from the USA is what is sold in Nigeria .... The Extended Performance Mobil 1 has more additives to give you longer oil change. This is the reason I import it and not the other ones ...

You said something that was funny to me .. You said I just want to make money.. Mind you I have cars on uber and that is the oil I use on my uber cars.. It allows me to go for longer oil change.. And your favoil will not give you longer oil change interval.... Extended performace is good for 15k miles oil change.. But I don't wait till 15k miles to change oil .. I factor in highway, city driving stop and go etc and change my oil between 10k to 12k. Now if did high way driving majority of the time ,I will change oil at 15k miles... And again car owners should follow owners manual at all times.. Would I use Favoil on my uber cars or personal cars ? HELL TO THE NO.. I have nothing against favoil oil .. Dont know it and don't care for it .. Plus it is not sold in the USA...

Ps.. Customers will always be loyal to a particular brand no matter how hard you try to convince them .. I brought in the USA Castrol, sold out in weeks .. The castrol was cheaper than the Extended performace.. I try to convince some to buy castrol, many were too loyal to Mobil 1 ...

When buying any product out there. I encourage people not only to do research. But also to read reviews of the product. It is better to take a handful of reviews from different source before you conclude. Before I decided to import Mobil 1 oil Extended performace. I read reviews from Amazon, Wal-Mart, I Google users of the product . Amazon had about 1k users that reviewed it , and out of the 1k users they gave it 4.4 out of 5 stars. I even posted it on the forum for people to see .. When reading the reviews. I focus more on the negative reviews, so that I can know why those don't like the oil. I also YouTube it and the reviews by independent test lab give it good reviews. They stated that their are other oil better than Mobil 1 ,but for the price it is ok.. I think Royal purple, came out on top. But Royal purple is very expensive.. Keep in mind Mobil 1 oil is the official oil for NASCAR drivers. This is also part of advertisement that we can agree on .. But am sure for Mobil 1 is destroying NASCAR that will be bad ..

Now have search on line for hours.. I search Google and YouTube.. I couldnt find one review of your oil . Are we now supposed to take one person review on a product? Or do we collect data from different users of product. Do we just believe on written data without actually lab test like Mobil 1 oil ? Your oil has no reviews whats so ever .. It does not make it bad or good. But it makes harder for people to be convince enough to buy.

My conclusion: For anybody looking to buy any product out their .... My advice is read reviews of the product out there. Google is your friend ..not just one review but a handful of reviews from users. You can Google Mobil 1 and YouTube it .. The reviews are out there plan and simple.. There is nothing to hide. Favoil oil has one review . And it is from nairaland users ,.. The choice is yours...

You are actually missing the point. I am not here canvassing for any product or to discredit any product. I do not work for Favoil and I am sure you are not an employee of Mobil 1. I wonder why you are so passionate about defending mobil 1. Mobil 1 is a quality oil, no doubt about that but there are other quality oil of same quality as mobil 1. I just want Nigerians to make informed decision that they do not have to be taken for granted just because they want to buy quality oil
For your information, I have been using mobil 1 in the past but I stopped because I realise that they are taking us for a fool by selling it at very high price to Nigerians. They have taken Nigerians for a fool. Back in 2016/2017, mobil 1 sells for about #12,000. Beginning of 2018 when the dollar was exchanging at #500 to $1, they increased the price to about #17500. When the exchange rate dropped back to #360 to $1, they never reduced the price. This is where someone like you saw an opportunity to take advantage of the situation. You are neither a distributor nor staff of mobil 1. You asked your relatives abroad to buy the Mobil 1 because it is reasonably priced in USA and send to you so that you take advantage of the high price in Nigeria. There is nothing bad about what you are doing, you are taking advantage of an unfortunate situation to make money.
What I want Nigerians to do is to protest against Mobil 1 and how to protest is not to buy Mobil 1 again until they bring their price to what is sold in USA. You might want to argue that the cost of importation and clearing in Nigeria is expensive. That is not the case because Walmart selling it at $28 is already making profit after paying VAT, Taxes, staff salary and overheads However people like you are selling it for #17500
So my message to Nigerians is simple, stop being fooled. Do not pay excessively for a premium quality oil. Try other products apart from Mobil 1. Some other products are of better quality than Mobil 1

You got a few things very wrong.....

1. I do not ask my relatives to send me Mobil 1 .. Am based in the USA .. I export to Nigeria from the USA.. Which type of relative go get time to buy bulk oil for somebody.. Do you know the time I put in to export to Nigeria...

2. You said am passionate about the oil.. Passionate or advocate... I will say advocate for the oil .. Due to the fact that I myself use it personally for my uber fleets. Have been using for the two years for all my uber cars .. And the oil has done extremely well. I don't have to change my oil so often.. And it cut downs my maintenance cost .. I advocate for it because it works..
Plus not only it works, the reviews are out there from many users.. So my review is not from one person alone.

3. For your information.. Mobil 1 USA is not sold in Nigeria by Mobil. Mobil esp the low quality oil is what is destined for the Nigeria market.. It comes in 4liters and sold for 5k naira.. And it is limited by viscosity and mostly comes in 20w50.. The USA Made Mobil 1 is brought into Nigeria by people like me... So you can't blame the cost on the company .. Blame it on the people that bring it in.

4. You said you want Nigerians to make informed decisions .. How can Nigerians or anybody make informed decisions on a prouduct that has little to no reviews .. Your favoil for example has no reviews anywhere even for me to hear from other users.. I thought part been informed is collecting data from group of various users across the board..

5. If you think there are better oil out there that are equally as good. List the names of them and provide links of the review and how to get genuine ones.. Back up your unbiased claim.

Again anybody that is reading this. Do your due diligence when buying any prouduct. Read the reviews and Google it .. I

Going back to your question, you said Mobil 1 is not sold in Nigeria by Mobil. This is absolutely false. The official distributor of Mobil 1 in Nigeria is Mobil Nigeria (now owned by 11plc). Maybe you have been away from Nigeria for long and those giving information are telling you lies. All over Mobil petrol stations in Lagos, Mobil 1 is displayed on their racks.
I have used another product (Favoil) and I am satisfied with it. I don’t need review to make my decision because I know what I am doing.

The statement on #3 refers to the Mobil 1 at the bottom.. That is the imported Mobil 1 from the USA ... You don't see these ones at petrol station or fuel station.. The 4liters are the ones scatter all over fuel station, which is of different qualities of the USA brand.. The official distributor of Mobil 1 in Nigeria does not import the USA Mobil 1 .. It can't be competing with the USA brand when trying to sell the ones made for the Nigerian or African market....

Good day everyone,

Has anyone heard about an engine oil called Favoil fully synthetic engine oil. The oil was recommended to me and I was told that it was imported from UK. Though the oil is reasonably priced, cheaper than mobil 1 or castrol. I am just being careful not to use the wrong oil and at the same time I think the mobil 1 and castrol are very expensive.

From not knowing about the product to using it and it been better than Mobil 1. People in u.k don't even know about the oil yet. I really don't want to spoil you business, but just market in peace bro. You just registered this account recently for this

You got it wrong bro. I have no business that you can spoil. How do you know this account is just registered. I am in Nigeria and talikng about a product I used. I found a suitable alternative to mobil 1 and decided to use. I like it and it works for me. What is bad in talking about a product I used.

I wanted to buy Yuko before I finally bought Favoil. Though the description on Yuko meets the specification of the Oil I wanted to buy. I didn't buy it because the oil does not have address of where it was produced. It only have made in EU (where in EU?). EU is a big economy community. its just like saying a product is made in Ecowas. Upon further research, I discovered that the Yuko is a Ukaraine company. I have nothing against Ukraine, just that I expect the address of where it is made to be boldly written on it. It may be a very good oil though but I have not used it yet. If I get good recommendation for it, I will try it.

Those gallons cannot be faked here... there is no single fake extended performance Mobil or Castrol oil in Nigeria...

They only fake Mobil nigeria oil because it is easy to fake.

My brother, my brother.... Fake plenty for market.. Does China come to mind.. What about refilling the empty kegs of the Extended performace with fake oil ! And than reseal it and sell it back to the market..
Now according to a good source of mine.. I was told the hardest part of sealing the oil is the aluminum foil type seal , which prevent spillage and acts as tamper proof...... You be surprised... meself I open mouth

He does not have to be a marketer .. My thing here is that the product is raving about has no reviews.. I Google and YouTube the brand.. I couldnt find a review on it, so I guess he wants the masses to take his word for it...

Now if you check out Mobil 1 and Castrol on line. You can see the reviews both positive and negative.. You can see the amount of users that review the product.. You can than YouTube it . On YouTube you can see how the oil compares to other oil in the market... And most importantly the oil samples were taken to Lab . To see how it does under certain conditions.. But with Favoil we don't see that.. If you going to get value for your money don't you think you need to ur research...

I spoke to this young man about reviews.. He said he does not need to see review .. As a business man before I started selling the Mobil 1 oil .. I went on line to check reviews from Wal-Mart, Amazon, YouTube and online mechanics.. Some reviews were positive and others negative... The review that convince me was from Amazon.. It had about 1k plus reviews and it got 4.5 out of 5 stars.. When I reviewed it , I focus on bad reviews mostly.

In anything I do that will cost me money .. I check the reviews, it could be a product ,service , jobs, etc. I make sure I go online to check it out.. It has become an habit of mine ....

So for example now , am on a business trip/ vacation to Japan .. I needed to change my yen to dollars. So I was looking for the best rate. The best rate is usually at the airport.... The airport is far from me , so I went to Google to see the best rate I can get in Tokyo ... The Google search came up with 5 exchange rate location. I went straight to the ones that had 600 reviews, with a 4.3 star out of 5 .. I went straight to the negative reviews.. Most of it was just plain stupid complain .. Mind you the currant exchange rate for the day was not posted

So I took the train with my last 6000 yen in my pocket.. When I got there, I saw the rate to the dollar. My face lit up.. It was best rate ever. It was almost the same rate at the airport.. I commended them and told them to keep up the good job. Plus there was no service fees at all.. All these information I got was through reviews

PS.. Like I always tell people, when spending your hard earn money.. On a product ,service or whatever the case might be .. Take the time to check out the reviews on line and from real people.. Don't just take my word for it alone. Try to look for the most reviews and focus on the negative reviews first... Than go for the positive ones and from there you can make a form decision...

Dru 23 you have applauded me, so I decided to close the chapter with you but you have since re-ignited it.
From my earlier post, you have noticed that I am not an ordinary person. You should have realised that you are talking to a subject matter expert. I sit on the technical committee of API where standards are being specified. I am the only African in that committee and we do have bi-annual conference in USA . Asking me to read review is like asking the maker to ask the created for advice. As I have said Yuko oil is well specified but I opt for Favoil because the producer is confident to display the manufacturing address and the country from which it is imported is known for quality.

This will be my last post on this topic.

@Dru23 I am not surprised that you couldn’t believe the description of whom you have been chatting with. The bible says “a prophet has no honour in his own country”.
You live in USA owning a Uber fleet and I live in Nigeria influencing governance in USA. Refer to attached front page of minutes of meeting we had in May 2019. I have blocked the names for privacy reasons.
