Since you are new, Amazon Manchester is Recruiting through Adecco. £11.70 per hour night shift. £9.20 day shift. 10 hours per shift and 4 days a week. Packing, picking and stowing. Depending the one u want. U dont need any experience.
JanegirlN:

I appreciate your response.

Currently in Darlington. I have a degree in Geology. Been into customer service. Love it. My last job back home was a rep in an airline. I don't mind getting back into that career path.

Truth is I'm open minded as regards whichever I find myself in.

I wonder if this would involve heavy lifting and then becomes too strenuous since its Amazon or if it's quite ok and doable

lols...My sister, go for care job to familarise yourself with UK working environment. Either it's career alive or dead...the 9pounds per hour in carehome job with the quality training and other juicy offers is far better than unemployment in UK and even better than some minimum wage of 8.21 UK jobs, and if you are staying with your man after 2 months without been employed, hmmmmm. .. lipsrsealed undecided

Thank you!
Will think about it.

It's better than care. Though it will be a little bit challenging in the Beginning but it's better than not doing anything. No lifting what so ever.

Amazon has far more than that, just try and get blue batch first then opportunities are there for all sorts of job types.

There are so many opportunities in Amazon at the moment. From team lead to shift managers , Internet technology, Engineering and so on. It depends on the level you entered. I recommended picking and packing cause she needs something to do that will be bringing income immediately rather than staying at home without nothing as she is still new in the country..again, when you have a blue badge in Amazon, after one year, They will pay for 95% of your tuition fee for a selected course ranging from health care to it, businesses management and human resources.

Which is about £2,000 and you probably going to work part time if the course is full time course. A friend is doing that now.

I know, I literarily just quit as blue badge from Amazon early this month. For the picking and packing role you recommended, there will be lifting.

I paid for a Police ACRO certificate when I applied for Thailand visa earlier this year.
https://www.acro.police.uk/police_certificates.aspx

It shows you a summary of convictions and reprimands or warnings or impending prosecutions for yourself.
I think it took about 2 weeks from making the payment to getting the documents by post.

Two methods:
Method 1:
1. Go to Nigeria High Commision in London. Pay some stupidly crazy money. Get a ‘letter of Introduction’ to Scotland Yard.
2. Book a biometric test appointment with Scotland Yard (my previous experience, they gave me a 2.5 month appointment).
3. Attend your appointment. Biometrics are taken by Scotland Yard, who now give you to take to Nigeria police at Alagbon, Ikoyi
4. Bla Bla Bla....

Method 2:
Oyinbo fit dey follow this thread.
I no fit shout.

It's so sad to read, considering how early this is in your marital and UK life. I think the basic issues here is due to lack of communication and unrealistic expectations from both parties.

The reason why some are seemingly taking your wife sides is because some of the reasons (perfume and garbage throwing) stated by yourself compounded things and made it seem like you are the inconsiderate party.

You have to both sit down and talk about your finances right now before a child comes in because

A. She wont be earning so much during maternity leave
B. Babies or kids are expensive
C. If you go through divorce your Bill's is going to be double because of child support and her maintenance.

Have you sat down and talked seriously with her? You need to sit down together (shock her and
plan a romantic trip sef ) ask her what she really wants in the marriage and go from there. All this can easily be resolved from series of discussions and agreement.

Clearly, you were comfortable paying Bill's back in Nigeria and this shouldn't really change since you are the Man of the house. However, we all know that is not easy in this part of the world.
I can attribute her changes to hormones because we all experience it differently.

Just accommodate her till the baby is born and be prepared for huge changes because more chores is coming your way. Try your best to create and provide a peaceful home for your child. You owe HIM/HER that much

Involving the family should also be an option before separation or divorce. Like Ralph said this marriage was contracted in Nigeria in love so discover the love again.

Wishing you all the best.

Hmmmm... This thing called marriage. The one with a head has no cap, the one who's got a cap has no head, the one who's got a head & a cap,has no party to attend... All is well

Hgh interest rate and UK banks do not exist in the same sentence. grin

If you have a lump sum and want to invest for a few years, it's best to invest in shares for dividend and capital growth. There are a few shares with an annual yield of 6% at the moment and possible capital growth of 50%-60% within the next 3-4 years. I'm currently fully invested in Petrofac (PFC) and it's currently at the cheapest entry price at the moment. I get dividend twice yearly and I fully expect capital growth of at least 50% within the next 3 years.

Caveat Emptor though, the reason it's cheap now is because they are currently under investigation by the SFO for soliciting for oil contracts via bribery. The investigation will soon be concluded and they will be fined heavily, about a billion pounds fine. The share price will then shoot up as business confidence rises.

However, there are many other good shares that you can put in minimum of £20,000 and get a good 6% annual dividend yield cash money for doing nothing. Do some research on it.

Thank you for this. Aside Petrofac, please can you mention any other one? For Petrofac, I believe the price will crash if found guilty by SFO before it appreciates. I have been waiting for the investigation to be completed. People lost money when the news broke and the price hasn't recovered since.

The SFO fine has already been factored into the present share price. This is a company that was trading at circa 1000p before the SFO, it's now at circa 400p whilst maintaining a healthy biannual dividend.

There are other funds that I used to be invested in, but no longer in them now. There was one that paid a fixed £100/month for a £20,000 investment. However, no capital growth though. What you get paid monthly is all you will ever expect to get regardless of how long you leave money with them. £100 for £20,000, £200 for £40,000 etc.
