Take a break and maybe your remaining two functional brains cells won't overheat.

South Africa's Eskom consumes 30,000MW of power. But here I am comparing number of customers. Eskom has about 17M customers on their grid. All the Ghanians electricity companies have about 4M. For you to reach South Africa level...you need to double your number to 8M....that will mean you have covered all 6.5M Ghanians in their homes..not just 3.7M...and also you have covered another 1.5M office, business and kiosks.

You're about half-way - at 55% - when you get universal access - come and we shall celebrate.

Kenya is ahead of you because - we are already at 8M customers - and we are adding nearly 1.5M annually - the WORLD FATESTES ELECTRIFICATION for some years now.

You have no data about the number of electricity rates Ghana is holding you dimwit. how so you question everything as if you are sound yourself.... we aren't on the same chatter of life with south africa , our industries are even not highly power consumable except the valco industries which generate its own power and consume more power than the nation kenya. you can draw from there ....

When you foolishly check the pattern of distribution, you will stupidly see it is growing and it's not changing any time soon . Thiat is if go school enough to understand table. arguing blindly...

in actuality , most of the power we generate are not consumed, though the distribution rate and consumption rate is growing, Firstly, there is excess electricity generation which was procured during the last regime from Independent Power Producers, including the Emergency Power Producers. Go read about it.

According to our Energy Commission, GHANA has installed power generation capacity of 5,083 MW, dependable capacity of 4,593 MW and peak demand of around 2,700 MW. So, our installed capacity is almost double our peak demand

so on average, less than 40 per cent of the contracted capacity is used, meaning that we are basically using 40 percent of the remaining 60 per cent of excess capacity which we do not actually consume.

That is good enough reason. That is better than denying the obvious like your fellow countryman Vax. What is double phase meters. In Kenya you can split a meter for multiple dwelling if they are I think some 70 feet max - but each house in say an apartment will get their own meter. Some landlords in low middle class - single rooms - can decide to have one meter - and charge rent inclusive a constant service charge...maybe that is 'double phase'?

We heard Ghana doesn't like such multiple dwelling smiley - they prefer to live in single bungalows - but now they have double phase meters?

Just30:
It simply means that more households are sharing their double phase meters
because there is not need buying meters for each house you share a compound with.

Ghana (according to official estimate) had 6.6M household in 2014 - so now I imagine the number has risen maybe to 8M - so your REAL TRUE electricity access is worse than I thought.

You keep raising tangential issues. We can talk about peak demand. I tell you subtract what goes to mining - and come - and we can discuss what really goes to you Mama's or Papa's house in Ghana. With all GOLD/Aluminium/Bauxite processing that goes on - you peak demand is now 2,500MW. If you remove roughly 1,000MW ( I am being super fair) - you peak demand for household is about 1500MW.

But all your electricity distribution companies - household customers are 3.7M only - In a country with an estimated 6.5M HOUSEHOLDs. Ghana is about 29M people - with an average household having 4.5 people.

Now explain to me why your electricity distribution companies do not have at least 6.5m customers? Or there are people sharing meters?

Otherwise, the data from Ghana Energy Commission doesn't cross-reference with Ghana Statistics Office - alluding to cooking or simply wrongly methodology by your stats office.

http://www.energycom.gov.gh/files/ENERGY_STATISTICS_2019_Updated.pdf

Page 21:
Table 3.14: Grid Electricity Customer Population
Source: ECG/PDS, ENCLAVE POWER & NEDCo;

Contradicts Page 22.
Table 3.16: Electricity Access Rate (%)
Source : Ghana Statistical Services, Ministry of Energy and the Energy Commission.

Since we are breaking down the stats

the kinds of meters used in allows for sharing with at least four different houses in a parallel connection
that is for a single phase meter

whiles double phase or three-phase meters allow for more connections

No one needs different meters for their various houses that share the same compound especially when a meter is going for between 1000 and 2000 cedis for one phase meters.

so it is normal to have 6.6 million households and only 3.7 million of them with meters and 670,000 industrial users.
it doesnt make it less true that 90% of Ghanaian have access to electricity.

I am now beginning to understand your excitement on all the basic free social things. You see unlike most Africans who only remember IMF terror during SAP in 80s/90s (Structural Adjustment Prog) - you've been under 16 SAPS; Just imagine that. IMF has come 16 times and as always proposed austeristy measures that mean cutting back on budget spending on education, health, social welfare etc. Do you even have a functional social welfare? In kenya every 65 yr old get paid a monthly stipend, every disabled, every orphan, every hunger striken....and we do NOT HAVE IMF TELL US AUSTERITY SAP

Basic 101 To SPOT COOKED DATA; TRY TO CROSS-REFERENCE and Then COMPARE WITH ADVANCED COUNTRIES i.e South Africa.

Let try Electricity in South Africa.

Total population is about 56M. Average family size is about 3.2 - south Africa roughly have 17.5M households.

How many customers does ESKOM have in South Africa 16.5M? Let us assume all these are households wink - we know huge part of these are office & industrial power.

What is their electricity access rate 16.5/17.5M =95% access rate? Based on this we now know roughly a million South Africa households don't have power...or 3 million people.

Now go and get the figure from South Africa Statistic offices. If the figure doesn't play around there - THEN SOMEBODY COOKING DATA.

COOKING DATA FOR POLITICIANS SO PEOPLE CAN HAVE FEEL GOOD FALSE IMPACT.

South Africa's electricity access rate is 86%
- Which is about right - if you consider those yet to be reached are rural communities with larger family sizes - than average family size of 1-2 in cities.

NOBODY CAN ACCUSE SOUTH AFRICA OF COOKING THEIR DATA. THEY CROSS-REFERENCE. KNBS also does cross-reference household survey data and what utility data says.

You cannot just publish CRAP LIKE NIGERIA DOES EVERYDAY. VERIFT VERIFT VERIFY
except SA family unit is more of an individualistic kind of living

communal living is what Ghana have
whereby the family setting is not individualistic

so your analogy does work here. grin grin grin grin

the communities left for Ghana to connect are either border towns or island communities
and those provisions where made in our 2020 budget.

The insult per word ratio is coming down - keep it up. Your NHIS covers only 2% of the poor and 36% of current health expenditure is out of pocket.

As you can see you have a long way to go - because our NHIF which allows you to be treated in decent private & mission hospitals - already covers roughly 30M Kenyans.

Now, the 17M mostly poor kenyans have to pay out of pocket - and we are fixing that with Universal Health Care - meaning if you're so poor to go to public hospitals.

Now I got an article for you - dated 2019.

https://www.sightsavers.org/blogs/2019/08/universal-health-coverage-ghana-how-can-we-really-make-progress/
The NHIS was introduced to curb high user fees and their effect on the poorest people in rural and working environments. After more than a decade of implementation, it is estimated that less than two per cent of the poor are covered, and people with disabilities – many of whom are among the poorest of the poor – do not have any special provisions under the scheme. It is not surprising that about 36 per cent of current health expenditure is out-of-pocket payment.
