We have very diversified economy - including agricluture - I think outside south africa - by the types of goods we export - it's staggering. Horticulture alone is worth 3B dollars - and export there is surely approaching 2B dollars.

Look at Tea - this year it's down by 20-30% - nobody cares. We have well diversified export crops - maybe we export 200 types of crops

Imagine if your COCOA was to go down 20-30%. You will be pleading for IMF to come to your 17th rescue.

I think if they stayed here, went to local university, got local jobs, they would contribute a lot more good to their economy and families - than if they sent occasional dollars while building economies of abroad - both thro their careers and spending most of their earning there. The remittance will stop after one generation - their kids will cut ties with Nigeria. I only support sending a small % of kids abroad to the best universities out there - not community college riffraff- and bringing them back as soon as they graduate...or sending them for post-graduate - and bring them back to find or create jobs.
