Couple of things: 1. Lagos State doesn't have the money to complete it. 2. I heard (not confirmed) that there was a particular problem with the technical planning which needs to be corrected, but the correction will come at a high cost. 3. Best bet is for the state govt to shift to a PPP arrangement, and seek a private partner that can finance all or most of the cost. This is going to be difficult because not many companies will be interested in taking that risk, particularly as the project is unlikely to be sufficiently profitable, if at all. I would not be surprised if this project remained unfinished until well beyond 2025. Infact, I believe there is a small, but serious risk that this project will never be completed. |

The attitude of our government towards developmental projects is not encouraging at all! I can't imagine why up till now the Lagos blue and red line rail system have not been completed. So many factors could be responsible for this. One of such factors is lack of purpose for every project initiated. So many abandoned projects are lying idle all over the nation. The most painful is that the masses are the ones suffering this their inemptitudeness. May God help us. 1 Like |

We need to understand that for some people to remain wealthy lagos has to be in chaos, I do not know if it’s directly affecting them now. This rail project was supposed to make so much sense considering the number of buildings that has gone down. Ambode built that gigantic nonsense at Oshodi ignoring a bigger project he even bought new buses to further congest the roads. The bedrock of this backwardness is wrong choice of governors after Fashola. The man at Bourdillon still rules. Lagos is congested no doubts but where are the infrastructures put in place to make sure things move? 1 Like |

with the slow rate of development in Lagos, I think an end to dictate of the Lagos landlord who resides in bourdillon is the only through which the state can achieve maximum development and harness its full potentials and anything contrary to this would be an effort in futility. The state is continuously becoming its decrepit, thus to maximize its potentials Lagosians must RESCUE the state from his grasp. |

Very rich of zombies to accuse PDP of not completing any rail project in sixteen years (conveniently ignoring kad-Abj and Abj light rails) but jump to the defence of tinubu and co over the failure of this particular project. Alatenuje ni gbogbo yin. They even call themselves patriots!! What an insult to patriots everywhere on the earth 1 Like |

Ccecc are executing that contract at next to zero profit.anytime there is a variation, it is a looking looking story between them and lasg. You must think this is like your enugu assembly building projects, not so? Keep on wailing . that is all you will ever be good for. Some of the delays you are making noise over were due to your precious gej administration. |

AutoReportNG: Please do not compare Nigeria with Ethiopia's SGR. There's a big difference. Areas where the pillars for the rails are being built are disputed. There are complex relocation logistics where they encounter areas with pipeline. And since you are interested in Ethiopia's SGR. In addition to my earlier post, in order for Lagos to achieve mega-city status, it needs to have a great public transportation option. Not only should these lines be completed, they should have park and ride/bus transfer centers along the major stations. Also, tickets should be available for morning, afternoon, day and month and should be purchased online/mobile app/at the terminal to reduce the chances of hoarding and corruption. 2 Likes 1 Share |
