A former Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Hon Bright Omokhodion, former Deputy Speaker, Festus Ebea, former state chairman of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, Mr. Tony Omoaghe, on Thursday joined Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC)

Others were Mrs. Tawa Idubor, Chief Blessing Agbomhere, Etinosa Ogbeiwi, Emmanuel Momoh and several others.

They had announced their mass resignation from the People’s Democratic Party through a voice vote after motion was moved and seconded by Hon Festus Ebea (Edo Central) Emmanuel Momoh (Edo North) and Tawa Idubor (Edo South).

Giving reasons for leaving the PDP, Hon Omokhodion said they had an intense and exhaustive deliberation on the political wrangling and demise of internal democracy in the Edo state chapter of PDP as well as consulted widely across the three senatorial districts of the state.

Hon Omokhodion noted that the present leadership of the Edo PDP lost its political directions and all attempts to suggest ways of redirecting the fortunes of the party was resisted by the leadership of the party.

Omokhodion said the action of suspending top leaders of the party on spurious allegations were undemocratic and has reduced the morale of members to its lowest.

“That as a result of leadership failure, Edo State PDP no longer command the electoral sentiment of the Edo people.

“We, therefore in our numbers collectively resolve that Edo state PDP has failed in its objective mission to the people and we have this day resigned our membership of the PDP and have resolved to join the All Progressives Congress.”

Addressing party supporters, Pastor Ize-Iyamu said the resignation was not to give room for speculation or give impression that they were retiring from politics.

Pastor Ize-Iyamu cautioned them using against ‘throwing stones at the house we once inhabited, a house we have many friends and many associates.

He said, “PDP and any other political party for that matter are not our enemies. Please refrain from any attack that suggests that we are leaving PDP in anger or in bitterness. What is important is our primary objective in politics, why we chose to be in politics.

“Many people have different reasons for being in politics but for most of us in this group we see politics as an opportunity to represent our people, we see it as an opportunity to assess government and bring the dividends, the benefits of government to our people and we cannot be fulfilled if we play politics without being above to achieve these goals.

“People might call us names, but many understand why we have to do what we did. We have done what we have done because we believe that we just assist to bring development to our people. We must assist to bring solutions. It is not enough to just criticise and criticise. We want to be in the forefront of providing solutions.

“We want to assure our brothers there that we are not coming to a strange place. APC is home to many of us just like PDP was home. We are going into the APC with good intentions. We are not going there to join factions. We are going to join APC. We are going there to help strengthen the party and we intend to give our full allegiance to those in charge, those in authority. We will not undermine the powers that be. We will not join in any fight or name calling but we have come with the best of intentions.”

Obaseki should act fast and move to the PDP. The earlier he moves there, the better for him.

PDP is empty. Secondus should resign.
He is either compromised, or is confused about what to do.
The way the party is disintegrating under his watch, you will think he is an APC representative. All he does is wear fancy hats and issue lofty press statements.

98 % of Nigerian politicians don’t have dignity and pride at all. Any where they can eat is where there will go. Imagine this fake pastor sef don jump ship chai. Which way Nigeria. As much as I dislike Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I respect him politically.

PDP politicians working in tandem with Obaseki in Edo. This new move is to make Oshiomole irrelevant in Edo APC. The fight for control of APC in Edo is now much more messier. Ordinarily Obaseki would have left APC for another party but that will put him dangerously against the federal might of Buhari's government ahead of next year's election so instead of that, PDP in EDO has joined APC. Good move.

politics is a game of deceit and Ize Iyamu is trying cautiously not to use the wrong words because the internet never forgets anything. the last time he left the PDP he labeled them as thieves and during the last governorship elections those clips were put on air, reminding him of how he called the PDP a party of thieves and destroyers while putting on the khaki and fortunately he became the governorship candidate of the party of thieves .

now he knows he might cross over to PDP soon if his selfish aims is not actualised here and he is not willing to shoot himself the second time.

Well, Edo state is fortunate to have Obaseki, rather than someone like that Kogi governor.

Consolation over what? It is a good move by Obaseki's group politically, it's like they don't have opposition now except within the APC. APC and PDP are they not made of the same politicians? It is your like that foolishly follow these trickers without understanding their mindset.

By next year many Edo state house of representatives and political bigwigs will move to APC, oshiohmole is really smart to work with ize iyamu.

Even without federal might and unlimited funds, he was able to fight oshiohmole, obaseki and other politicians.

Ize iyamu will easily sweep Edo south winning all local government(I'm from orihionwon and I know what I'm talking about) obaseki is irrelevant here.

Oshiohmole just needs to work on his Edo north then gbam new governor

I don't think this Ize-Iyamu is a real pastor.. Pastor when no know him self no fit to be called pastor.. Any pastor in PDP ,APC right now is not a pastor, they hide under that name "Pastor, for their selfish interest.. Obaseki might not survive this anymore, and I was happy he is about deleting Osho Mo Ole from Edo politics. Apc really mean to kill all Nigerians ,if care is not taken...

Democracy to Apc Government means Government by FIRE by FORCE.. I just wish Army could take over, make hand touch some people small.. lipsrsealed
