Some guy almost got a seizure trying to prove that their tax man collects 12 billion dollars annually from their little economy, there tax to gdp ratio is totally shambles. This is not to say that ours is superb. Should have been at least 20% and above by now if not for Uhurunomics!

According to the report, South Africa is still the richest country in Africa, with the high net worth (HNWI) population of 39,200 people holding the most wealth at $649 billion.

This is double that of the second wealthiest African nation, Egypt, where the HNWI population of 16,700 people holds $303 billion.

Egypt is followed by Nigeria ($225 billion), Morocco ($114 billion) and Kenya ($93 billion).

Total wealth held on the continent amounts to US$2.2 trillion. Around US$920 billion (42%) of this is held by HNWIs, New World Wealth said.
I actually don't see how reflect in the economic pulse of the nation. measuring individual wealth has nothing to do with total economic output of nation. infact, to me it only indicates how some millionaire have increased their wealth while ignoring those who have remain poor.

south africa actually has the number that is great, but it fast moving down on that lake , Casablanca and Cairo seems to be the next preferred investment choice for investors. for the first time , Casablanca car production outspace that of south africa.. South Africa shouldn't just sit and watch. economic team mist rise up to their feet. something unforseen might be coming.....

i actually don't envy the ranks Ghana seems to have more millionaire than TZ and this millionaire have increased in wealth. what about the inequalities. the margin keep increasing but not as worse as kenya or your country . I think moorroc did well better than any countries due to little differences in inequalities compare to the rest of African state.

Africa leader should find way of closing the gap.... that is what capitalism breed.

These are facts the West Africans cannot handle

One dedicated kumasi idiot can't handle this, he's always straining his ignorance to sound smart yet he's dumb foolish, he's the same slowpoke who was screaming that total value of Kenya's wealth is $44 billion but when facts are verified, total value of Kenya's wealth is $93 billion, to make matters worst, his stupid tiny country ridden with ugly people like their president isn't even among the top ten wealthiest in Africa in terms of assets value.

This is yet to be addressed cause there are strong emerging markets in the continent with Rwanda and Ethiopia being the dominant player here.
We will switch to this when we cross the bridge.

Africa's most preferred airlines on the basis of number of passengers they've handled this year.

1. Ethiopian Airlines - 11.3 million passengers

2. Kenya Airways - 5. 3 million passengers

3. South African m - 4.1 million passengers

4. Royal Air Maroc - 3 million passengers

5.RwandAir - 2.4 million passengers

6. Egypt Air -1.8 passengers

Haiyyeee! Despite KQ's recent issues we're outdoing the Saffas while Egyptair is at the bottom?

Vax, My friend you don't have to be combative when we are debating issues. Anyway Minerals & OIL PRODUCTIONS -GDP even if you had ZERO corruption leaves very little footprint on the economic development of the country.

Let me give one good example. GHANA & Oil. Let us leave GOLD because obviously it has DONE NEARLY ZERO SINCE GOLD COAST WAS DISCOVERED IN ASHANTILAND about 150yrs ago (1860).

Let talk about OIL in GHANA and assume there is ZERO corruption in Ghana unlike NIGERIA.

Tullow Oil Ghana discovered Oil around in 2006 and as of today Ghana has climbed to be Africa No 4 Oil exporter as of 2019. It's exporting nearly 200K barrels of oil daily. About 10% of what Nigeria & Algeria does.

What is OIL GDP contribution to Ghana - roughly 200K barrels * oil prices (average this year is around 69 dollars a barrel - using Ghana projected values) * 365 days.

Total comes to about 5,037,000,000 - roughly 5B dollars.

The main oil field - Jubilee oil field - is offshore - located some 60KMs from the nearest Ghana shore

This the only FOOTPRINT Ghana Oil leaves in Ghana. 60 kms deep in Atlantic ocean - Ships dock on that ramp - fill up and head back to South Korea or India or wherever the refineries are..

Now out that 5B dollars - most of the money will go to Oil majors & international shipping companies..

And

What will Ghana get - they are projecting about 1B dollars - from royalties, corporate taxes and capital gain taxes.

Bottomline: OIL GDP has inflated Ghana economy by huge factor - for Oil alone - out of 5B - only 1B really end up in Ghana - plus say few staff & office expense the oil majors will incur in Ghana.

You want to keep growing cocoa a lot more. Don't be stupid like Nigerians.

vaxx1:
This isnt so well thought out ......minerals output center on corruption doea NOTHING, Congo and venuezela is an example. what inflate GDP is large amount of productivity of a country. we can see south africa GDP shrinking over time . but what is the essence of growing GDP when population exceed growth or almost in balance with growth. better economy is when your GDP grows faster than your population At least 7 percent margin for developing conntry) It will also implies an increase in productivity, which is the output per worker.

SAA has more serious issues than KQ. At least KQ restructured most of it's debt to equity. SAA plus Eskom have serious issues and there is no political will because South Africa unions are very powerful.

Check morrocco figures again....they are not even 150B dollars. Morroco GDP was 109B in 2017 - and kenya will likely overtake her in 2-3 yrs.

I think Kagame is real. Rwanda rise is REAL. Kagame is as good as Meles Zenawi. The sooner we accept that reality the better. Where Ethiopia have come from - from like the BOTTOM of every index - to now at least 10-20 places above it is commendable. I think Abbiy is also godsend - the leadership before that - were too weak.

Wrong! GDP per capita shows how much economic output can be attributed to each individual citizen. Not how wealthy the people are. i.e if Ghana sells 1 billion worth of gold, the money is divided equally among all Ghanaians giving the false impression that every Ghanaian citizen sold the gold and got the money. Yet we know the average Ghanaian has no idea who owns the gold mine or pockets the money. Per capita is not reasonable comparison among african countries.
it shows how wealthy a country is

You could be wealthy natural resources wise - like Gabon/Equitorial Guinea - but human development including basic infrastructure tells another story.

The richest Africa countries per capita (ppp) - the odds out are Equatorial Guinea and Gabon - if you subject it to KaziKazi GHANA PICTURE TEST - Eq Guinea having 35K usd per capita like developed world - will be EPIC FAILURE.

Kenya will remain regional powerhouse - but Rwanda is doing well - and could be Africa's Singpore or Hongkong in 20-30yrs if they keep Kagame for another 20-30 yrs decade.

I have visited Rwanda like every sort of 5yrs interval - and the changes at least in Kigali are noticeable.
