After verification, you would be given the verified copy which you would show custom officers any time they stop you rather than the real custom paper, and once they see that form, they automatically let you go. My understanding is that he made payment based on valauation issued by Customs.

Dont forget the process;
- agent does declaration;
- customs issues assessment,
- Custom does examination;
and final check at the gate.

the annoying thing is that even after paying those said customs that amount another set would still stop them and ask for settlement so imagine him going to calabar and calculate the amount he would spend before he gets to his destination, it will be extremely frustrating. Its better one pays complete duty and the only statement custom would tell you is " FIND ME OD i.e officer on duty" which varies between 500-2000 depending on the kind of ride u were going to deliver.

The reason why I said it's not fraud is because from what the OP narrated, his agent did pay duty, even though short payment because he did back door clearing (clearing with part duty and settlements). Assuming he didn't pay duty at all, then that is fraud. That's why I used the word "TECHNICALLY" in my statement. I'm not defending the agent, nor do I support his action. He has himself to blame for this problem that could have been avoided if he followed his customer's wishes.

This is not a valid explaination oga. Did he ask for the correct duty from the customer and the later refused to pay or short payed? The buyers of the car refered @adexfem for the clearing with the guarantee that they are trusted to always pay full duty

Kakakibuy has no blame at all in this! Its the agent who caused this. Our clearing agents are so selfish and fraudulent. However, your case is even good. I just cleared my 2015 Lexus RX350 through an agent. He charged me N2.5M. But only 900k appeared on my documents as surface duty. Just imagine! Thank God your duty is even genuine. All you need to do now is pay a top up and collect your car. THEY CANNOT SEIZE YOUR CAR! Rather, the customs officers who gave the valuation should be arrested. You will need to pay a DN of about N1.2 to 1.5M. Congratulations on the safe delivery of your car by Kakakibuy.

Am not labelling you a criminal your defense is. Read what the op write up again the part he categorically asked if the Money will do and the Adexfem agreed. Also try and assimilate the part where he called the Adexfem again to verify if there is any hiccups in the clearance and if the car is road worthy even in regards to customs palava and the said Adexfem gain is approval. Afterwards when the customs burhaha started the said Adexfem was still forming I know people to the customs just to pull wool off the eye of the helpless op. And from there when the customs did there worse Adexfem was talking about paying them 200k if he had known and he agreed he didn't pay the duty as agreed on but he decided to rub palm (which is crime ask Icpc). You defending this Adexfem is based on one thing, the fact that you can do what he did which brings you down to the level of a fraudster, cunningman and above all a criminal who will bridge agreement for his own personal interest. Google the dictionary meaning of fraud and thank me later.

Sir, let me tell you what you don't seem to see. With Nigerian customs, for duty payment or clearance of your goods, you have 3 categories which I call:

1) Full duty (full duty paid)
2) Acceptable duty (more than half full duty paid, less settlements)
3) Non - acceptable duty (less than half full duty paid, more settlements)

Assuming for this case now, the agent paid maybe duty of N3.5m (acceptable duty), no customs would have impounded the car, they will just collect roger of like 2k and let him go. But paying N1.9m duty out of N2.750m for a 2014 Gx460 is non - acceptable duty. FOU Customs will always disturb on that car.

We were given an assessment duty of N1.440M to go pay into the customs account at the bank. My boys told me to sit back and allowed them resolve the issue themselves. God willing, the car will be released to them any moment from now.

To all those that reached out to me, offered advice on this thread and wished me well; i say thank you. May help not be far from you in your time of need.

Let me assume you paid N100k for shipping and terminal charges; and your agent fee is N200k. Y[b]ou should have about N550k left unaccounted for[/b].............. I won't say anything here for now but bear it in mind that it is not every bone you can swallow and go scot free; some will choke you.

When cases like this comes up, then u will know the thieves and good people on NL.

yes, you can walk right into custom office with the photocopy or original and verify if its been logged into their data base. If you are in ibadan, their office at ikolaba-bodija area offers such services. I have done that severally and they charge only 3k for it. Once verified, a verified copy is issued to you, and you can kiss custom wahala goodbye afterwards. Once they see the new verified papers, they wont even bother asking you any further questions because they know you've japaa.

I thought it was Benin Bypass the incident happen.. The customs guys for bypass no dey hear "ESPIRIT DE CORPS" but this one you are crossing 11 custom check point.. NA MAIDUGURI THIS LEXUS DEY GO?
