i have been following the super eagles right from the mid nineties and from that period till date it will be ignorant to address me as a novice in matters related to nigerian football except our female teams which i don't follow much.

no matter the hate it takes nothing from us admitting the fact that rohr have done well since taking over the coaching responsibility of the super eagles and based on my personal rating i will give him 7/10

i knew little about him and wasn't really sold out on him when the nff brought him on board but after watching his first 2 games against tanzania at home and zambia away i knew the man has something to offer which grew my confidence in him and the team.

i will be a drastic decision if the nff decide to allow him leave

I agree with the part about Rohr's leaving causing a big gaphole in our team

bros make we reason abeg, can you name coaches from the local scene who you deem better than rohr?

are you referring to the period we were made to believe by a certain coach that the likes of uchebo, reuben, oboabona, kwambe, oshaniwa, nwofor just to mention a few were better than:

imoh ezekiel who took the belgian league by storm then as a rookies in the colors of standard liege?

abdul ajagun who was doing very well in the colors of greek giants panathinakos?

taiye taiwo and haruna lookman who were ever present figures in dynamo kiev then?

obafemi martins who was scoring for fun in levante and continued with the same form in the mls?

otigba who was a young defender then playing regularly in dutch club heereveen?

sone aluko who was doing well in glasgow rangers and continued with the form when he joined championship side hull city?

ejide who was miles better than chigozie agbim?

So, Otigba , Ajagun , Imo etc were the players that were gonna win the world cup for Nigeria...come on, soul brother! The truth is that that era was the drought period. Dont sugarcoat anything. In reference to those players , where are they today? Their world class quality suddenly disappeared? Shouldn't we be criticizng Rohr for ignoring Onyekuru who was one of our hottest players in Europe ,while he paraded a spineless Simon. Why arent you up in arms screaming corruption ? Africans worship white people like God starting from the white Jesus in your catholic church...its deep brainwashing...lol..works like magic.

Those average players you listed up there werent gonna make any big difference and its ultimately a matter of preference. Haruna Lukman , Taye Taiwo and co were mere pretenders and we saw how they fizzled out with time. Every coach has his preferred tactics and players. If I were a coach Iwobi will be selling gala, Ndidi will sit for Zuby...my choice.

I have always rated his player call ups highly (80-90%), and that tells you I say things as it is. Granted sometimes wetin I go say no go sweet many here. But if I were really against this team I would have called for his sack. Rather I have always opined that if we are to go far in the WC (which is what I am really interested in) he will need a tactically sound assistant. But what is the guarantee that we will a employ a better coach if we lose him? The NFF has not been good at employing good coaches for the most part, or maybe we have just been bad at keeping coaches long enough.

i am sorry to say this but you sound racist to me. southgate who is currently doing well with the english national team was he the one that discovered the likes of rashford, kane, sancho, sterling and co?

deschamp who won the last world cup with the french les blue was he the one that discovered griezman, pogba, kante, giroud, umtiti and co?

assembling a team for the senior national team is different from assembling one for youth teams. national team coaches have no time nurturing players but monitor them in their various teams and will only invite those whom the deem good enough for their project.

it is the sole responsibility of grassroot coaches and youth coaches to unearth raw talent who re transformed to better players by featuring them in youth teams. no right thinking head coach of any national team will comb the surburbs and ghettos to discover talents when he has riches to that regard doing very well in top leagues and teams in europe.

days are gone when senior national team coaches indulged on such archaic methods unless the country in question lack good players plying their trade in europe. this is the main reason why the nff established the u15 team where scouted unpolished young talents are assembled with the aim of graduating the set to the u17,u20,u23 and the senior team in the future.

You subtly lobby to keep the post when you envision a bright future and you do this with your body language/non verbal cues. Rohr is not necessarily after money like some shortsighted and visionless African coaches who have no interest in living a legacy but want quick money to stuff their pockets. Unlike Africans who eat while the pot is still on the fire white people think about future. He want to make history as the white man who was the first coach to lead an African team to world cup glory....common, brother you are brighter than this. That man want to steal the sweat of our indigenous coaches.

Let's not forget to give credit where its due. The two time a Nigerian club won the prestigious African Champions League they were led by our indigenous coaches in the person of Khadiri Ikhana MON and Okey Emordi MON. Again , the root of corruption in Nigeria cant be traced to Nigerian coaches. They work in a broken system. The government are responsible for the decay

It's simple. Let's be a little balanced, else you will end up being in the other extreme side.
List the current SE players, and those you think that should replace them. I bet you, you will not be able to replace up to 5 players.
In the past, we could do this easily.

oga its not about winning the world cup with the players i made case for but inviting players on merit. what do you have to say about gabriel reuben who was a pereniel bench warmer in lowly scotish side kilmanock making the 2014 world cup team at the expense of haruna lookman and ajagun who were playing and performing regularly in better leagues and clubs in europe then?

its not about those players making the difference but giving those who deserves a chance an opportunity in the team

do you know imoh ezekiel then scored double figures in consecutive seasons in a better club in the same league where uchebo was flopping week in week out prior to the world cup but was included in the team at the expense of the former?

do you know nwofor wasn't making heereven's team and played mostly with the teams 2nd team when he was included in the world cup team ahed of ike uche and obafemi martins who were still balling hard?

bros leave matter abeg. making a team competitive brings out the best in plays and the end result is bulding and forming a formidable team

You may have missed my point. I am saying that the current set of players Rohr is working with are some of best talents in Africa and even across the world to stretch it. We agree on that but I want us all to understand and agree that the success of this very set is not in anyway rested on the tactical abilities of Rohr. He inherited those players from our "corrupt" Nigerian coaches. Keshi , Siasia , Eguavon didnt have these sort of talents, when they coached the Eagles....you know ,like Pep struggling to win matches at the Champions League without his Barcelona special talents...lol. In essence, Rohr was simply lucky-in the right place at the right time. He is not a genius! However, I think he knows how to manage players attitudes and behaviors.

Tell our government to stop bribery. Why should everyone be forced to leave just to make it when we have a league?

I personally don't care who coaches because at the end of the day we only look at results.

he started with fighting all the senior players we had then, the likes of mikel, moses, osaze, enyeama, martin,ik uche, taiwo, yobo just to paint them black before the media and to the fans so that his decision of bringing in carpenters in the team will be justified.

I Still Get N5m Monthly Pension As England’s Ex-player –John Fashanu
The shy-looking Fashanu, who talked about how hard it was to convince players of Nigerian descent to dump their adopted countries to play for the Super Eagles without attractive welfare packages, backed his claim with the challenges some Nigerian football legends have been facing even after their sacrifices for the country.

BY SAHARAREPORTERS, NEW YORKNOV 23, 2019

John Fashanu

Nigerian-born former England international footballer, John Fashanu, has disclosed that he still gets a monthly pension of N5m as an ex-player for his adopted country.

The shy-looking Fashanu, who talked about how hard it was to convince players of Nigerian descent to dump their adopted countries to play for the Super Eagles without attractive welfare packages, backed his claim with the challenges some Nigerian football legends have been facing even after their sacrifices for the country.

Fashanu told Daily Trust, “Till today, I still get my benefits, my pensions. I get N5m monthly as pensions for being an ex-footballer in England and I am now in my 50s.

“Tammy Abraham knows why he hasn’t played for the Super Eagles and it’s because there is more financial benefits playing for England, there is more glory and less wahala. Why do we ask the boy to play for Nigeria and torture him?

"We need to step up. Tammy is a massive miss for Nigeria. Nobody went to London to talk to him and explain to him the benefits of playing for his motherland.

“And when you hear what happened to Kanu Nwankwo, Jay Jay Okocha, did anybody come out to defend him over his tax bills, did anybody come out to defend Kanu when he had issues with his hotel?”

taiye was still the best leftback we can boast of then and was still playing regularly fpr dynamo kiev then in ukraine, a team who were competing in the uel team steady instead he settled for oshaniwa.

do you have an idea of how hard he tried forcing the likes of mikel, yobo, odewingie, martins and uche out of the team but couldn't succeed with mikel because he was calm and gentle guy who doesn't speak much and as well our best midfielder then playing in a top club

if not for the late nff's intervention before the world cup list was made public yobo and odewingie wouldn't have made the 2014 world cup team.

what about the case of ameobi who was washed off but made our world cup team?

@the bolded, we are here because we Super Eagles, so let's not forget the reason why we are here
There are various threads for other topics. We should learn to discipline ourselves to follow the purpose of the thread. If everyone is to express their "other interests", there will be no place for you to express your love for NPFL.

taiye was still the best leftback we can boast of then and was still playing regularly fpr dynamo kiev then in ukraine, a team who were competing in the uel team steady instead he settled for oshaniwa.

do you have an idea of how hard he tried forcing the likes of mikel, yobo, odewingie, martins and uche out of the team but couldn't succeed with mikel because he was calm and gentle guy who doesn't speak much and as well our best midfielder then playing in a top club

if not for the late nff's intervention before the world cup list was made public yobo and odewingie wouldn't have made the 2014 world cup team.

what about the case of ameobi who was washed off but made our world cup team?

Keshi was a very corrupt creature
