Linzo: As much as I wouldn't want to discourage any private university applicant - I am one too - I think the recognition your university has home and abroad matters a lot. I avnt gotten to the VISA stage, but I will share the knowledge I recently gathered from my MSc application to one of the most recognized university in Canada. I graduated with a 4.44 in Biochemistry and applied for MSc Chemistry. I got a supervisor, she was super interested in me, even connected me with a Nigerian whose her teaching assistant. The guy directed me through my application process, even confessed my application was tighter than his, and he had no doubt I wud get in. I was refused admission, no reason mentioned. When I called him to gather more info, he told me on a low-key that the Supervisor accepted me, the program also accepted me, but the College of Graduate Studies didn't recognize my Nigerian private university - it had no international accreditation, recognition or so. He advised that I take a one-year program in a popular federal university, keep up my good grades and reapply next year (b4 I finish the program) bcoz the supervisor was still very much interested in me. I told him I'll think abt it and will try other universities (I can't go for colleges bcoz the information I gathered here confirms that I would av 70% chance of Visa refusal bcoz my grades are good) at the meantime. He didn't think that was a good ideas. His reason being other universities might also not recognize my university; but if I wanted to try that, I should speak to the Uni's Graduate Studies Coordinator first, asked them if they recognize my previous private university before applying. Mehn, application fees are bloody. Anyways, that was my first application. I've only tried once; Imma try again. Hope this helps. Peace. 3 Likes |

Which is better, a diploma or a masters degree... |
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 16 by Orlarshaynee: 8:45pm On Nov 23, 2019 |
I would say that it is subjective. It really depends on what one wants to use such qualification for. If you really meant ‘which of them is higher in rank’, then I believe it is masters. Olayinkaji: |

If you have already gone through the biometrics and medical stage, then this is good news. You will likely get the visa. However, it came to my notice that CIC still does another vetting before making a final decision. In my case, it took about 15 days after submitting my passport before CIC finally sent me a final decision mail, which stated that a counterfoil had been attached to my passport. I hope this was helpful? sotonte18: |

Olayinkaji: The answer to this question depends upon your highest level of education. Let's take for example, assuming you've a bachelor's degree and graduated with a 2.1, your best bet is to apply for a direct master's program in a field that is in tandem with previous/current job role. On the other hand, if you finished from the University with a 2.2 or third class, then you should be looking at applying for a post graduate diploma/Certificate program. Personally, I wouldn't advice you to go for an ordinary diploma because this drastically reduces your chances of securing TRV. 2 Likes |

Urielbam: During the time of your application process, did you link your application online?. You need a refusal letter from the embassy before a tuition refund can be carried out by the school in Canada. Since you didn't receive this letter, I would suggest you send a CSE to the Kenya (Nairobi) Immigration office via this email nrobi-immigration@international.gc.ca explaining the delayed refusal letter from their office. The subject of the mail should bear URGENT, along side your FULL NAME, UCI NUMBER, APPLICATION NUMBER AND DATE OF BIRTH. Also send your enquiry via THE NAIROBI WEB FORM. It will end in praises |

I dont wanna mention anyone for now but I have noticed a subtle hint of people trying to form approval via agent hoping to get dms for link to the agent and possibly scamming people's. House pls be careful of who you private chat' throw all your questions out here in the open so if anyone tries to mislead you, we can all see and point you to right direction.
