EFCC should stay out of this , even the Americans are not accusing Onyeama bof corruption or theft but just of laundering money in their Economy. 1 Like |

Almajiri1: You should take a chill pill and let the drama unfold Invictus was a mentor and a motivator till he was busted. You don't know anyone more than you know yourself This guy wired $20 million. Do you know the conversion in naira? Instead of defending him, allow him to defend himself to the world 32 Likes 2 Shares |

I cant believe what im reading from these backward uncivilized village people. You say travel more than any other ethnic group but the jungle has not left you. Serious! 25 Likes 5 Shares |

Akiara: Abeg stay on topic. This is Onyema thread. How is onyema a national asset? You are so rural you dont even know what is meant when you hear the word national asset. Do you even know how national assets are quantified? 22 Likes 2 Shares |

Akiara: This is the problem of the Igbos. One of your prominent sons is on trial and all you can do is mention Tinubu who is in no way connected to the plight of Onyeama. When Obi was indicted by the FBI, we can all remember Igbos flooding the net with a list of Yoruba names on death row in Saudi Arabia. Obviously a pathetic attempt to point fingers at others and detract from the crime of their fellow Igbo man. For some Igbos, facing up to the criminality of their fellow Igbo is not an option. This approach only confirms Igbos are comfortable defending their own criminals and miscreant like no others do in Nigeria. You only discredit yourselves with this myopic approach. Sometimes, dignified silence, till aware of all the facts, is wise. 36 Likes 4 Shares |

izzou:What is $20 million dollars to a man of Allen Onyeama's status and connections with diverse interests in the largest economy in Africa with over 200 million population? Do you even know the huge amount of silent billionaires in Nigeria. Real wealth and not the credit wealth in America. 1 Like |

candidtalk: I hate Nairaland mods for censoring intelligent and cogent inputs on grounds of political correctness. Ibos need to be told the truth....most of their so called accomplished entrepreneurs are criminals behind closed doors. Their leaders need to wake up and address the issue. Otherwise if America sees that Ibos are always in big criminal busts they will all without exception be profiled....and im sure it will be an embarassment. It is already an embarassment but they can contain others in future. If they had done the right thing since Invictus and those 80 thieves maybe onyema's could have been better managed, instead they busied themselves combing internet for Yoruba criminals. 19 Likes |

Almajiri1: I can't believe what I am reading !!!! Look my friend, not all ethnic group believe in the blind support of their rich and successful kinsmen. It may be hard for you to fathom but some of us think no one is above the law and no one should escape justice. Onyeama should therefore face his US prosecutors and clear his name. He is no national asset let alone warrant your senseless talk he "must be protected at all cost". Anyway, I am not surprised you seem to have a casual disregard for the law. The law is something you obey when it favours you and disregard when against you. This is why many Igbos ,including prominent elders who should know better, can just pretend our court processes do not matter with their noise urging the FG allow Kanu, a man who broke bail, come to Nigeria to bury his mum and leave "without arrest or harassment". You people are too unreasonable biko. 23 Likes 7 Shares |

All of you making this a tribal matter r sick in the head. This is sad!...Does it mean that if more Nigerian big business men r investigated they might not come out clean?...These are worrying signs indeed. Please my brother,Allen Onyema, I want to give you benefit of the doubt. Biko, nwannem, show these Americans that they are liars n that you are innocent. Because if this comes out otherwise I will be very disappointed. You are one Igbo business man that I like n admire. I like your patriotism, tenacity n ingenuity. You are like the only white cloth the igbos have right now...biko don't allow mud to be rubbed on it. Ogwuna k'oram n'onu 11 Likes |

Flier:You sometimes wonder why they defend thieves. Some people just don't realise the evil laundered and fraudulently acquired money does to the economy and society. It's the same stolen and laundered funds that make it possible for an individual to build an entire estate, puts the rentage at exorbitant cost and doesn't mind if no one stays in the entire estate or chain of duplexes for years; Same criminal act that makes it possible for someone like that to outbid you with that struggled to make your money and saved for years or borrowed funds, out of a landed property, with an outrageous quote;etc. Nobody has pronounced Onyeama guilty, even the US authorities stated in it's indictment, but if he is guilty on trial,it should be applauded by any honest, hardworking individual in Nigeria. Indeed,we should even be hoping the the US can help us do what the EFCC has spectacularly failed to do down the years, despite cases that even a kindergarten would know the individual concerned spells fraud from a mile off 14 Likes 1 Share |
