I know the history of Charlie's Angels. The original one was a classic.

However, this 2019 Charlie's Angels is nothing more than a cash grab on a once popular movie franchise.

A movie isnt feminist because of its cast. In fact, there is a whole feminist literature that criticizes capitalism. Using feminism as a marketing tool is wrong. Why not be fair to women for the reason of fairness and not for profit? Be good for goodness sake.

A film that has strong female lead(s) is always going to be pro-feminism, it's inevitable... It doesn't matter the genre or premise, the overarching theme that will invariably shine through is thus; what a man can do, a woman can do it better... A woman can be stronger and more astute than a man, and so on.

If you're going to reprehend Charlie's Angel (2019) for promoting what you dubbed "fake feminism", then you may as well paint all the other films that have strong female leads with the same brush, including Anna (2019) that you loved so much.

Charlie's Angels suffer from poor script, mediocre directing, and editing amongst other things, not because it promoted fake feminism. In an alternate settings, it would be a masterpiece.

I had to go and read up on Sisyphus to understand the metaphor of the Ghost Ship. The long and short is Jess is dead, and I think she was condemned to the Aeolus because she was abusive to her autistic son. She is trying to come back because she wants another chance to be a good mother, especially after witnessing the abuse from the stand point of an outsider (presented when she watches from the window the second Jess abusing Tommy).

Like Sisyphus, she will keep doing the same thing over and over again for eternity. There are variations to the actions, but the outcome will remain the same: she will always return to the Ghost Ship to act out her punishment.

AWESOME, MINDFUCKING MOVIE!!!!

1. It discusses central feminist issues

2. It subverts sexist cliches

3. It passes the bechdel test

4. As a subset of number 2, it has to be a good movie. Female driven movies were rubbish and few.
