Greetings, Is the Stambic dollar fund guaranteed like the Eurobond (guaranteed by Govt)? And what rates are you guys seeing? |
Re: Eurobond by 234ng44uk(m): 3:15pm On Sep 28, 2019 |
Chucklive: Dollar Fund by any assets manager is an assorted portfolio of Eurobonds both government and private issued. In essence, they use your dollars to buy Eurobonds in a way similar to Naira dominated mutual funds. 1 Like |

234ng44uk:hi.. Please what is the current interest rate on the sibtc dollar fund? I have a mmf account with them, will I need to open another account for this? Thank you |
Re: Eurobond by ImperialCovfefe: 4:07pm On Oct 12, 2019 |
RealityShot: The rate on the SIBTC dollar fund is calculated a bit differently (in comparison with a money market fund). You don't have an annualised yield that accrues daily. Instead, you get appreciation in the fund's net asset value (NAV) and a yearly dividend payout, just like equities. That said, the annualised total return (NAV + distribution paid out in April) as at today is ~ 6.64%. In general, you should expect c. 6-7% annually. You need to complete a separate application to sign up for the dollar fund. Additionally, there is a minimum 6-month holding period and online redemptions are not allowed. Hope this helps. 3 Likes |

How much is the fees if you are starting dollar fund with $3k. I learnt there is a fee you pay before you commence. |

ernie4life:Oga hope you don't mind, hw much is the minimum and what's their interest/dividend and at what minimum duration |
Re: Eurobond by ernie4life(m): 11:10am On Nov 15, 2019 |
baroun04: Most dollar funds(not euro-bonds) accept a minimum of $1k with no guaranteed interest rate but the target is usually to perform above LIBOR ( London Inter-bank Offered rate) and minimum duration of 180 days, please still confirm from whatever firm you are dealing with to understand their terms |

Beautiful thread. Following and reading religiously. Amazing when people talk about finance and investments like this. Although I haven't make money to the point of investing at the capital and money market, I have this conviction that money will come and I will apply all that I have learned. Thanks to everyone who has been sharing the information here. 8 Likes 1 Share |

ernie4life:I called GTB there rate is 0.05%. I called somebody in stanbic and was explaining that at first I will lose some money due to some transactions- I really don’t understand this. Are you saying if I open a dom account with stanbic, I source for dollars and give it to dem, I won’t transfer from my dom account into another account (which would cost some charges)? |
Re: Eurobond by ernie4life(m): 10:06pm On Nov 16, 2019 |
igbizen: Transaction/ transfer cost is different from the cost for investing in the fund. When you make a transfer in naira there is a cost same applies to dollar transfer |

I find the Euro Bond quite complicated, can someone pls break it down to me? |
Re: Eurobond by igbizen(m): 8:50pm On Nov 25, 2019 |
ernie4life:So what’s the transfer fee for a $1000? In naira (360k) online transfer is #52.50 ($0.146). So that one can understand the journey before embarking. 1 Like |

igbizen: To move money from one account or bank to another is a function of how you got the money into your account, where you are transferring it and how the other bank treats such transfers (inflows and cash deposit are treated differently). If your bank says it will cost you $50 to move money then it is $50. You have no control over it. If you are moving between the same bank, it is cheaper since you will not be paying off-shore charges and telex. All you pay is commission and VAT on Comm (the % for GTBank and other banks are regulated so what you have above maybe the same for most banks). Trust your bank to give you the rate when you are making the transfer and do your calculations. 1 Like |

igbizen:I was charged 135$ for transferring 13k$. Banks have different charges for cash deposit or inflow into your account. I was charged 3.5$ when I withdrew 7k$. The 7k$ was cash deposit while the 13k$ was inflow. 1 Like |
