Give pre_nan it's a formula for low weight babies. Give her till she's at least 2.5kg before going to nan1 or any other formula. At 1.5kg her system needs delicate milk that she can easily absorb to gain weight in addition to breast milk.

Thank you mama... She is 1.9kg now... Will the pre Nan do?

I guess the cord didn't fall off Completely. Keep cleaning with spirit and allow a pediatrician check it out. She's too tender to just assume.

Yes Prenan and breastmilk will do but ensure you feed your baby on regular intervals through the day. Target feeding 2 hourly through the day and night unfailingly. Increase the protein content of your diet, I was by a reliable source told it improves the calorie of your breastmilk hence your baby can gain weight. Most importantly wear patience like a garment, your baby will gain weight with time.

Its normal so long as there's no foul odour or pus coming out. Keep cleaning regularly and apply what you were given at the hospital.

The blood was probably caused by force of the cord when it fell off.

Still see your doctor if it doenst feel or look right to you.

Thanks. I will try the feeding immediately after food.

This phase will pass. Since you are pushing for 3months, drink lots of water and take oats like twice daily. Hot steamed rice and yam works for me.

Wow... You just inspired me.. Am also working on making pap myself for her and possibly mix bm to make it tasty.. I will try this combination too.. We'll possibly start one food for a 4days or a week then I will see how she respond to them... Though she seems to be eager already... Always looking at me or anyone while eating lol

Whenever she looks at me while eating I give her to taste. If it's rice I will mash it and give her to taste so that when I start feeding her the taste will not be new.

You must not start with cereals. And even if you want to start with cereals, then buy one at a time. E.g, buy cereals and wait for her to finish it, and if she seemed to like it you can buy it again, and if she didn't, you can try a different one. Don't start off with three different brands at once unless you like to eat baby food cheesy

You can also just ignore cereals and start with purees and semisolids, blended bananas, Irish potato purees, boiled and blended apple. There's an nl thread for baby food, search 'baby foods thread nairaland' on Google and click on the first result.

I started with gerber rice cereal. She love it. And I introduced oat cereal we are still eating it. I made Guinea corn and millet pap. That's what she takes mostly. Since she was 4months her milk consumption reduced. I had to give her pap with milk. She lives the mixed fruit puree, banana puree. I just introduced the egg custard pudding. I bought a pack of 6. If she no like am eh I either. Give it out or keep it and try again

Hello mamas,
We are 6months plus 2 wks already so far so good and blessed. We made tombrown today but in preparing it, it was watering that I had to place it on fire to cook it before it became thick.

Please how to you prepare your tombrown for consumption?

HepatitisCURE:

All nursing mothers are advised to practise exclusive breastfeeding for the first 6 months of life. Exclusive means no water, no nothing aside breast milk. Breast milk contains all the essential nutrients the baby needs and it’s also the best meal suitable for the baby’s digestive system at that early stage of life.

The breast milk also contains an ample amount of Lauric acid which is antiviral in nature. Therefore, I advise all nursing mothers to do the right thing to strengthen the health of their babies.
Thanks.

What about the ones that are alive and aren't producing enough milk. Lets stop putting newmums under unnecessary pressure please, making them feel less of good mothers if they cant do ebf.
Most of the doctors n nurses preaching ebf don't even do it, at least the few I've met
Ebf is good no doubt, but if it's putting too much pressure on you, don't kill yourself.
All that matters is a healthy and happy mother and child.

My sister if you ask me who I go ask? The matter taya me. Even the people preaching it stated taking akamu @ 3 months. Cos personally, I believe my mother gave me akamu at that age and nothing do me, ayam perfectly okay.

Some babies even reject breast milk from birth self, I wonder why it's now do or die affair.
