I need to cancel one of my TB to clear an urgent payment... I bought it in September this year (400k TB @13% rate (364 days)

How long would it take Stanbic bank to credit me and how much should I expect?

United Capital Plc has a bond fund. This is the link https://investnow.ng/Products/AM_BON#collapseExample

They quoted an interest rate of 15% as at yesterday. I have been told that it is a high risk though because it doesn't guarantee the principal. I don't understand why especially since it's invested in Sovereign bond and not equities.

I'm still doing my homework sha. Will chook head when I fully understand. But the rate sounds good.

Really interesting. The rate looks real good but capital not guaranteed is a minus o.
I'll dig deep to get more info & do proper findings about it. If I am convinced based on personal findings, I go follow chook head.
I appreciate the hints

Is what she is doing not wrong and against the rules and regulations of the Bank?. Stanbic is not the normal and average Nigeria Bank. If this is discovered, i hope you will bail her out if she is fired?. What she is doing is fraudulent.

Am sure she doesnt have the authority to accept or decline bids, the right thing will always be done by the right people. Her own is to send customers request.

As a customer I have the right to place a bid at any amount with the intention of crediting my account to the tone of the bid figure before auction day.

Like I said initially , let's see how it goes, u r taking it too seriously.

And you think the bank does not know that customer will want to or do this in order to game the system?. Why do you think the bank does not allow you to make a bid when you have the intention of covering it up with the expected upfront interest?. For instance, you have 900k in your account but you want to place a bid of 1m so that when it succeeds, the upfront interest of 100k for example would have covered it to the 1m.

I have to take it seriously o. Iam involved in financial applications and so iam interested in the loopholes clients and staff of financial institutions use to game the system.

consult your stock broker bro, and do your due diligence before making any decision.
But if you desire good profits within range of 14% and above on your capital, then you can look the way of Zenith bank.

From the look of things, small or large school business is the best for now. Property business is not a bad business. It all depends on the area the property is sited. It's very good for those with large capital because some properties do stay for long period of time without seeing someone to buy them. My landlord's apartments has been lying unoccupied for months now.
The essence of this new MPR introduced by CBN is to tighten everywhere and to limit the circulation of cash in the system.
My cash can't just be sleeping in the bank. I'll channel part of it to laundry business grin grin

MPC meetings needs to be followed up keenly if the reduction is temporal, mid or long term, at most three years if its going to be a long cycle, rates would still go back up

Nigeria will still need to borrow money till the next 30 years

Power production proposal to produce 24hours power alone by KPMG runs into trillions

Road and Infrastructure

Railway infrastructure

Census looming

2023 elections

Pi & D crisis which if we lose, all of use bears the burden

There's lots of reasons for Nigeria to keep borrowing money

Although I believe FG is honing in on free. Money by the initiators of the CBN stamp duty initiative as a replacement for treasury bill loan money... Smart govt. Loan without repayment grin

Here's why FG found a veritable replacement for tbills.

50 Naira transactions tax times million daily transactions for example. Or 10 Million, for example. You can see the FG is raking in trillions in no repayment money. Times this per month, its even crazier. FG is saying lenders we have our own money now and don't need you, although I disagree with this posture been a perogative to lessen TB rates

Let's all keep our hands crossed. Maintaining funds in investment cycles regardless of how low the rates maybe or diversifying financial portfolio may be a smart move while the watch continues.

The stock market is wide open!
go there...loose 20% in 2weeks to 1 month...

then come back here and manage the 8% with us.

Emefiele thinks he is smart.
Next year... Many will lose money in
ponzi.. Stocks.. Shops.. New businesses...

then the economy will tumble and he will have his hands full with excess liquidity plus derranged citizens..

what is the assurance?

at a certain point..The presidency will halt CBN on the rate dropping because cash flow will be tight ...

This low Tbills discount rate scenario cannot last for long....

We have structural problems which can only be solved by long term Fiscal measures and not by any monetary maneuvers from CBN.

I am never gonna reallocate my Tbills funds for other risky ventures......(am getting older too and would not want to increase my risk appetite now)

I will just go short on any of my matured Tbills and wait this out. We have seen this before.

we would just take higher risks with our risky funds, maybe trade more aggressively on my Cryptos to make up for the loss in income from Tbills (more sleepless nights). Squeeze and monitor the keke guy more, etc

This too shall pass..

Three years is what my gut first instinct says.

Regardless its an excellent repository for zero-risk appetite funds. The stamp duty on transactions has become an eye opener to the FG so much so that it would rather hone in on its optimal benefits than seek loans with stringent Conditions

Its all written all over the wall..Too much money chasing same thing , the CBN don make up their mind that's what they want to do for Now ..We either endure with them or look for other options ..Till they are done with their magic
Imagine locking ur money for 1 year for 8% compared to 13/14 %....After u don collect ur upfront intrest and finish spending person eye go clear and wan go terminate am grin ..Some people will still prefer this anyways ..Nothing too small
Diversification still one of the best way ..All of us don dey used to the every 2 weeks Tbills Auction with good rates ..Hopefully it will come back one day

Despite tbills rate crashing, tbills is still being oversubscribed lol. Nobody wants to invest in any real sector especially with the way cbn is playing ludo with the economy, with unstable, unsustainable policies.
Emefiele is only concerned about protecting and making money for banks and pleasing his employers. Interesting times

We should blame it on the lack of good will in the stock exchange system... Of which its over 13years, it still lacks depth, direction and is not insulated from big forces that have the capacity to manipulate it.

Till the stock exchange is revamped and properly structured to prevent mainupaltive forces, funds flow in the country will continue to find expression through tbills investment, unless rates on savings are on par as tbills with additional incentives.

Even down to 5% per annum, its way better than savings or stocks where even after ten years capital can never be regained let alone gains yet we see listed and issuing institutions declaring annual profits. Spits. tongue angry What a fantastically corrupt financial system/country

This scenario played out in 2007/2008 when there was too much money in the hands of citizens not knowing what to do. All of a sudden the entire airwaves every now and then was adverts of Initial Public Offerings of different commodities. While the foolish (including me) were front loading their money into and open ended pipe in the name of buying into an IPO and admiring the certificates, the financial crooks were at the back end of the pipe off loading the money in the name of trading (by hyping and manipulating share prices). Recession was the result. Sometimes i wished all my capital then were even in just a savings account without interest. The loss was too much. AFter then, i discovered Government Securities.

One thing to note is this. Money is like energy. For everyone that lost money, some other person gained it. The sad part is, 100 people can loose money to 1 person. The reverse is never the case. With the latest trend, there is likely going to be another experience of too much money and myriads of scammers. Even when a legit investment come your way, there is likelihood of funds over saturation which makes an investment company become obsessed. Only those with track records will be able to hold investors funds in keeping with promises.

I have series of BONDs and TBs maturing From February 2020 and Bonds coupons going on with the next one in December.

None of those moneys will be used for any other investment other than what i am used to. I will rather keep them trekking (short TBs or MMF) and wait for the prime time or nothing.
