Folks am trying to make a choice on air-condition to use on my inverter system, between GenCool and GenPal which one of them is more energy efficient? Anyone with usage experience?

simydan:
Both will work. But for my personal experience, I'm using a 1.5hp lg gen cool on my 2kw generator and the gen does not blink when ever I put on the AC. Unlike when my 100w refrigerator comes on the gen slightly surge.

I use the 1.5HP GenCool. Its great. I have a Power Meter attached to it. I noticed if you put it in the GenMode, It will peak at 850Watts or slightly less. It is great. You can give it a try.

My battery charge current has a maximum of 45amps so I had to limit the controller to 40amps which is around 1.2kw, I only get to see more Hervest if I load it up intentionally but even at that I don't get beyond the range you've indicated. Wonder if that means my panel is too cheap wink

I had considered this when I was about to procure my AGM batteries but some literature suggests that one should not put it in the household due to its occasional gassing.

i thought you said your bank is 24v 300ah?...i guess you have 4 units of 150ah 12v battery,, what tyoe of batteries are they, cos am certain u can send 25amps to most 150ah deep cycle batteries, and since you have 2, thats about 50amps. some would even take more, so cross check..so you be sure

the gassing you talk about occur more during equalization, which is every 1, 2, 3months..as you desire, i do mine every month, u can simply open the windows, and place a standing fan to blow the fumes away, for the 4 to 8 hrs, you may choose to do the equalization

Yes you are correct 4x150Ah 12v = 300ah 24v. The battery has max charge written on it to be 45ah so I was using that to determine the limit for the string. However from your message it seem I should double it so my charge limit will then be 90ah correct?

It means it does occur during normal operations? The house is relatively small and have got kids but will look into that option in future though.

Yeah 45amps per batt, since ur string is in parallel and series, then u can send 90amps charging current to the bank theoritically, though personally i wud try n keep it under 80amps,
However..your 2kw array can only do 60amps @24v. Since ur CC is 60amps, so you shud be fine.

@ gassing yes again.gassing is minimal during normal charging,, unless if you set ur charging voltage setpoints rather high, then u will perceive acid vapours more often..
People hv been ingenious and designed workable systems for indoor installation of fla batts from using compact cooler container, to waterproofing the insides of a wooden rate and running piping to evacuate the gas

Question for the guru's in the house: If I have a setup of solar panels of 600w and my battery is 200ah, is it possible enjoying the surplus wattage generated by the solar panel while the battery is charging?

It all depends on the type of inverter you're using as well as the load. As long as it does not exceed far more than the excess power from your panels.
But know that, you pay for what you get as most inverters with this function comes with a cost.

You can see from the picture below!

Hmnn. There is so much to learn about this DIY stuff. The challenges I had with my solar installation was simply due to wrong settings on the pwm cc. I give God the glory for giving me the insight on what to do. And I am grateful to all who gave me advice one way or the other for me to arrive "here". As of this day, I have had power for 72 hrs nonstop except of course when I go to sleep. I consulted extensively on different platforms, but I didn't get that settings could be the problem. I don't know what made me decide to change the settings. I think its because my battery came with 11.7v. So it occurred to me to reduce the voltage of the cc without really understanding what I am doing. All i thought was "if i reduce to below the battery voltage, maybe it will be forced to pick up". I also adjusted some other settings and voila! Light 24hrs. TV morning till evening with only a 200ah battery! And the battery only dropped to 85% once!
If I had contracted the installation out with money that is not available, I won't know what I know today. Still, I am glad I opted for DIY.

Thank you all who helped one way or the other. God bless you all.
How much does this your 24/7 light cost you?

Actually my CC is 80amps but yes I have a array limitation for now.

Pls does inverter cause lines in TV. An inverter has just been installed for m, after which this fault started. The thick comes and goes. I notice it clears off after a while then comes back. I don't know if it's just coincidence. My inverter is Prag pure sine wave by the way. Has anyone experienced this issue on their TV before ? How can it be fixed.. It's really disturbing because this isn't a period where we planned to get a new TV.
there is a video on youtube on how to correct the line
Dont need to call anyone do it yiour self it requires cleaning a particular place

You need to know the wattage of every thing you intend to use and the hours of usage before you get a reasonable quotation.

Thanks for your response, do you think if I get a 1HP there will be significant reduction in the consumption compared to 1.5HP that does 850w?

So my mustpower 4kva 48v inverters has started acting up..
Its back feeding its3lf, and powering itself+other household loads not on the inverter load line..
The problem is puzzling in that. Digital meter readings at its ac input side is normal/zero.....however once the breaker is on..somehow the circuit is complete and a reading of 230v is obtained.

Am wondering if this is a house electrical fault or an inverter fault..am leaning towards an electrical fault in the house, but strange that it would suddenly just start, since no work has been done on the house wiring lately

Yes. It will likely be between 640 -700 Watts or less. Just give it a try. Am sure you will be glad

I think you should disconnect the ac input side, then check it for any faults with your multimeter when you power it on

For a 750w to run 18hrs:
750×18=13500w
13500+2700=16200w

For 750w to run 24hrs
750×24=18000w
18000+3600=21600w

To run a 16200watts or 21600watts load, you need about 15pcs to 20pcs of 200ah battery
2kw inverter.
Charge Controller
3000watts panels or more...
Cables and breakers.

That will cost a fortune, seriously talking of millions.
But, in the real sense a 750w load will not be run at once so, practically you may end up running say about 400w or even less at any given time so that makes the system cost effective and more realistic.

You can contact me for proper costing and advice.

Hello All,

Is it possible to connect the AC output of an inverter (5KVA) to the AC input of a second inverter (1.5KVA)? Planning to do this to charge a second battery bank that does not have solar attached to it. Also, the second inverter and battery bank will power other isolated equipment.

What do you experts recommend?

Is it possible to do that? Yes. But is it advisable to do that? The answer is NO. If you have little power from PHCN, I'd suggest you charge only the 1.5kva with it and use it as a backup inverter while running the 5kva 24/7. Or if the solar panels is enough, you can always add the other batteries to the 5kva and run only one system. I'm assuming the batteries are of the same age, size and everything. But it is not a good idea to try to charge another system from a bigger one. Are you trying to pull off a perpetual motion machine? grin JK.
