ahiboilandgas: my boss...small thing Don enter for Xmas ooh. AM done for the year. Hopefully rates would climb back up before 2nd quarter 2020. A friend was telling me that the border closure is helping the govt save A lot of money in subsidy payment cos the amount of petroleum pdts bunkered into Benin, Ghana, etc was becomiing alarming. Nigeria was subsidizing fuel for Benin Ghana Niger but all that money will be saved now and redirected. This he said has empowered the CBN to cut rates. So by the time they open the border things may begin to worsen for the govt , thereby increasing rates to attract fdi. What's ur thought on this 4 Likes |

Akin3891: Don't waste your time, fbn eurobond is stressful. They don't have internet access where you can monitor your funds, everything is via email and their customer service is rubbish. Stanbic has a lower entry fee of 1000 dollars , internet access, better customer service Sorry folks for derailing, learnt a lot from everyone here, so must give back 10 Likes 1 Share |

zamirikpo: And you think FG will be foolish enough to reopen the border to start subsidizing fuel for Benin, Ghana Niger all over again knowing that things will get worsen so they can increase rates to attract fdi. 7 Likes |

zamirikpo:true oil marketer smuggle fuel to chad ,niger and Benin and the closure had reduce it ..only small quantity is slipling out...this is reducing subsides payments but there are new cost (the recently approved minimum wage ) ,the cbn govenor is using unconventional tactics to stimulate the economy and save the naira (via fdi )so he directed foriegn inflow to omo markets (they still have good rate here ) while we the local investor are suffering bad rate to force money out to the real economy ...but the paradox is that they havent created the enabling enviroment 5 Likes |

Rate will surely go up they can't generate enough cash to fix the deficit (no nation state can do it )they money from vat ,stamp duty , subsidy saving etc can generate 500 bn annually to the three teir of govt .... 5 Likes |

ahiboilandgas: Rate will go up when demand slows down. For now too much money is chasing Tbills and rate can only go lower. The CBN is doing a good job but they can only continue with this if oil price stays up.. 4 Likes |

I remember attending a presentation in Lagos like 2 or so years ago promoting this product as the next big thing. The Nation Newspaper Buhari seeks Senate’s approval for $30bn external loan November 28, 2019 President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday asked the Senate to approve an external loan of $29.96 billion to execute key Infrastructural projects across the country. Senate President Ahmad Lawan read President Buhari’s letter at Plenary. Buhari in the letter said he decided to represent the request for external loan of $29.96billion, part of which was rejected by the Eight National Assembly, to finance key projects in different sectors of the economy. The letter titled: “Request for the National Assembly to reconsider and approve the Federal Government’s 2016-2018 external borrowing plan” reads in part: “Pursuant to Sections 21 and 27 of the Debt Management Office (Establishment Etc) Act, I hereby request for resolutions of the Senate to approve the Federal Government’s 2016-2018 External Borrowing Plan as well as relevant projects under this plan. Specifically, the Senate is invited to note that (a): While I have transmitted the 2016-2018 external borrowing plan to the eight National Assembly in September 2016, this plan was not approved in its entirety by the legislature. Only the Federal Government’s emergency projects for the North East’s four states projects and one China Assisted Railway Modernization Projects for Lagos-Ibadan segment were approved out of the total of 39 projects. “(b). That outstanding projects in the plan that were not approved by the legislature are nevertheless, critical to the delivery of the government’s policies and programmes relating to power, mining, roads, agriculture, health, water and educational sectors. “These outstanding budgets are well-advanced in terms of the preparation, consistent with the 2016 date. “Sustainability analysis undertaken by the Debt Management Office were approved by the Federal Executive Council in August 2016 under the 2016-2018 external borrowing plan. “Accordingly, I have attached for your kind consideration, relevant information from the Minister of Finance, the specific outstanding projects under the 2016-2018 external borrowing plan for which legislative approval is currently being sought. “I have also directed the Minister to make herself available to provide any additional information or clarification which you may require to facilitate prompt approval of the outstanding projects under this plan.” |

CBN is ok with stamped duty cash and cash derived from other tax sources. Why is the President now asking for external loan approval? I strongly believe the cash already gathered should be enough to finance all the projects. I'm still looking. 4 Likes |
