URGENT PLEASE: Resumption date (with respect to assistantship duties): January 5, 2020 Start of Classes: January 27, 2020 First available appointment date(as of now): January 3 (Abuja), January 7 (Lagos) Valid date of appearance at the embassy (at most): December 30 Program: PhD I heard that application for expedited appointment would require original I20. All I have now is the draft. Original will probably get to me on Friday next week (Dec 6), as international office would be sending it on Monday next week. Mailed International Students office already with regards to getting an extension, but got an auto-reply: office to reopen on Monday next week. Dear house, what do I do Deferment is not even an option. Thanks! |

Deegayes: With Access Bank, request that the statement be printed specifically in a portal meant for printing bank statements. It helps to reduce the time spent on confirming the authenticity of the statement. Dunno about other banks. That's probably what the account officer meant. 1 Like |

Hello guys! I must commend the richness of this thread, you guys are really doing a great job. I currently have an issue at hand, my Visa was denied on November 27 and I need to reapply. I have a Research Assistantship offer, which covers my tuition fee and living expenses. I believe the reason for the denial could have been that I didn't present an evidence to show that I would be back to Nigeria after my PhD program. It's a pity I had the document right there with me but there was no cause for me to present it as the conversation with the VO was smooth without her requesting for any supporting document. I was able to establish that I am currently an Assistant Lecturer in a Federal University here in Nigeria. Perhaps, I should have been forward enough to present the letter of introduction I got from my Registrar. The issue now is that I need to resume latest by January 06, 2020 and the only feasible location now is Abuja but my Ds-160 was initially filled using Lagos. I humbly request for your kind response on the following: 1.) Do I need to revisit my Ds-160 and change the location to Abuja? 2.) Does changing interview location affect my chances? 3.) Do I still qualify to request for an emergency date, since I used it for my last appointment. I look forward to your constructive responses. Thank you. 2 Likes |

SMREXY: Even with full funding Please share your transcript. As for your Q3, the rule for getting an expedited appointment is that the said applicant must have NOT been refused a visa within the last 6 months. |

Hello. Please I need your advice/help. My school rejected my sponsors financial statement because it was a company account. They said they don't accept company account and my sponsor doesn't have much in his personal account. And am sure moving it from his company account to his personal account will be a red flag. Please what can I do?

Good day every one, I must confess that naira land is the best place to be for visa enquiries and the rest, I am kinda new on the platform but have been following up ever since I joined the platform. I was denied of visa on the 15th of November 2019 but have rescheduled for another visa appointment at Abuja embassy for 5th of December, although the previous visa interview was at Lagos consulate but due to the fact that my school resumes on the 13th of January I reapplied but didn't see a good date at the Lagos consular so I went for that of Abuja, I will be sharing my first visa experience although it was quite brief but I will also be sharing my supposed visa conversation for my next Visa interview. At the Lagos consulate, appointment time was 6:45am I arrived by 6:05 am but was delayed as I didn't print my SEVIS proof of payment , I went to the cafe and those guys frustrated my life when they said that my SEVIS payment has not reflected on the site , since on August 2019 , ah I nearly piss for my trouser, they printed a made up letter and gave to me to present on the place of SEVIS proof of payment and collected 2k from me, so I joined the queue and got to the point where I was asked for SEVIS proof of payment , I presented the made copy the cafe guys gave to me and the man looked at me like what!!!! and he wrote no SEVIS on my DS 160 and asked me to proceed , I went in for the interview but later discovered that some of us on my queue skipped the thumbprint session, so we had to go back for the thumbs print, I was praying that I be directed to the guy on window 9 as he was so calm and relaxed unlike the guys on window 6 and 7 but unfortunately , I was directed to the guy on window 6 and this was how the interview went. Vo: Good morning Me: went straight to meet him and I responded good morning sir. Vo: your i20 and passport please Me: quickly passed it to him Vo: so why are you going to the us Me: I am going to the university of central Oklahoma to do my masters in public administration to major in public non profit management. Vo: why this course? Me: the degree will help me with qualities such as * fund raising capabilities and at this point I went blank and couldn't remember anything , so i had to repeat same point again and he cuts in vo: who is your sponsor? Me: my father chief Ezenwa I was about to complete my sentence and he gave the yellow paper and said sorry at this point you are not eligible for the us visa , try again. God I felt as if I was in out of life So I got home and immediately got another visa appointment same day but this time around Abuja embassy for the 5th of December 2019. Total school fees :$23600 But I gain a Global diversity scholarship which is $8000 About 32% discount from the Total school fees and this will last for two years of my masters program as I will be given$4000 each year of my study. So my new proposed transcript is as follows. Vo:where are you going to Me: I am going to the university of central Oklahoma (uco) for my masters in public administration and non profit management. Vo: why this course? Me: this degree will prepare professionally to widen my horizon in The aspect of leadership and management skills, as I have The intention to return to Nigeria after my program to apply for the office of chief protocol officer in the ministry of labour and employment federal republic of NIGERIA, and with This degree I will stand a better chance for such job, and I will serve as a leader or attain key roles in the government Bodies, this degree will not limit me to government organization alone, as some private corporations such as the news and broad casting organization loves to hire those with masters in public administration for policy analysis and international organization management. Vo:how many school did you apply to Me:3 schools Vo: name them Me: Oklahoma State.university(osu) in still water, University of North Texas(until) in long beach and University of central Oklahoma (uco) in Edmond. Vo: why did you choose uco Me: I made my research and I discovered that uco has a flexible system of learning as students are allowed to create a customised system of learning such as * field studies, * internship*work shop* and independent studies so that they can be able to complete their degree faster. Vo:how will you utilize this degree back home. Me' after the completion of my masters, I plan coming home to take over from my family business and move it to a thriving State as I will be the one to do so in few years to come, and I also will go into partnership with the the (NDE) and some higher institution so that we can be able to establish an (Ngo) where I will be raising young minds on how to create a business of Their choice and also training them on how to become great leaders of tommorow as opposed to what we have currently in the country. Vo: who is your sponsor? Me : my uncle Vo: in your previous application you stated your father as your sponsor , why now your uncle? Me: my father has been so very ill of lately and I can not ascertain the outcome of event in the future , so my Uncle chose to take the responsibility. I am so sorry if this is quite long but I will be so glad if the professionals in the platform can look into this, I am open to take corrections and adhere to any necessary development , thanks. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Lizamegabush: Your "why this course" and "how you'd utilise the degree" isn't tallying, it should!!!. At one point you want to take up a job at the ministry of labour, another time, you want to take over your family business. Work on that. |

frapzkid: In this journey, you need to do certain things yourself and one of it is searching for schools, after searching for schools, you can then come back to ask about people's opinion on the schools you chose. Go on usnews.com, filter according to the course of your choice, go to each school's website to see the ones that fit your interest. All the best 1 Like |
