Just30:Good development, africa should be allowed to developed its resources. we can't just talk about infrastructure without energy. energy is the main foundation and pillar of any successful economy. Springfield company is becoming more successful. that is a great quest for Ghana private indigenous company . this should motivate others... On another news , Ghana refinery ( The tema oil refinery has bounce back . The Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) has secured a deal to refine crude oil for a local oil trading company and its international partner, after years of stop-start activity. Known as the tolling crude oil processing agreement, the contract requires the national refinery to process 11 million barrels of crude oil for the wholly-owned indigenous oil trader, Woodfields Energy Resources Limited, and its international partner, Vitol, the world's largest integrated energy firm. The Managing Director of TOR, Mr Isaac Osei, in an interview with the Daily Graphic, described the transaction as a "landmark" and a major milestone in the new life of the refinery. He expressed optimism that it would inspire confidence in TOR’s operations among other stakeholders, as the refinery was back to consistent refining of crude oil, thanks to a string of measures that made it an attractive partner to local and international oil trading companies. Confidence rebound Since August this year, the refinery has refined about four million barrels of crude oil for Woodfields Energy under the special arrangement that enables TOR to earn fees, retain its human resource and utilise its equipment. Mr Osei said the deal exemplified the growing confidence that the oil trading industry was reposing in the ability of TOR to deliver value-for-money services to third parties. "Similar arrangements are also being finalised with other international oil traders," he said in the interview that discussed the fortunes of TOR and its journey to sustainability. "Generally, confidence in TOR is picking up and more firms are willing to do business with us," he said. source. graphic news paper... 2 Likes 2 Shares |

Africa Roundup: Nigerian fintech gets $360M, mints unicorn, draws Chinese VCs November 2019 could mark when Nigeria (arguably) became Africa’s capital for fintech investment and digital finance startups. The month saw $360 million invested in Nigerian focused payment ventures. That is equivalent to roughly one-third of all the startup VC raised for the entire continent in 2018, according to Partech stats. A notable trend-within-the-trend is that more than half — or $170 million — of the funding to Nigerian fintech ventures in November came from Chinese investors. This marks a pivot in China’s engagement with Africa to tech. We’ll get to that. Before the big Chinese backed rounds, one of Nigeria’s earliest fintech companies, Interswitch, confirmed its $1 billion valuation after Visa took a minority stake in the company. Interswitch would not disclose the amount to TechCrunch, but Sky News reporting pegged it at $200 million for 20%. Founded in 2002 by Mitchell Elegbe, Interswitch pioneered the infrastructure to digitize Nigeria’s then predominantly paper-ledger and cash-based economy. The company now provides much of the tech-wiring for Nigeria’s online banking system that serves Africa’s largest economy and population. Interswitch offers a number of personal and business finance products, including its Verve payment cards and Quickteller payment app. The financial services firm has expanded its physical presence to Uganda, Gambia and Kenya . The Nigerian company also sells its products in 23 African countries and launched a partnership in August for Verve cardholders to make payments on Discover’s global network. Visa and Interswitch touted the equity investment as a strategic collaboration between the two companies, without a lot of detail on what that will mean. One point TechCrunch did lock down is Interswitch’s (long-awaited) and imminent IPO. A source close to the matter said the company will list on a major exchange by mid-2020. For the near to medium-term, Interswitch could stand as Africa’s sole tech-unicorn, as e-commerce venture Jumia’s volatile share-price and declining market-cap — since an April IPO — have dropped the company’s valuation below $1 billion. https://techcrunch.com/2019/12/01/af...ws-chinese-vc/ 1 Like |

According to legatum prosperity index 2019, Ghana is the best ranked index in economic and governance improvement this year behind small island cape Verde in west africa, and ranked ahead of any east Africa country, but behind Botswana, south africa and Namibia. it is not positive index to Ghana anyway, as the country drop four tables from last year.. but still far better than many African country including Algeria, Libya and Egypt. only morroco and Tunisia perform better than her in north Africa. legatum is a well reputable private investment firm ..... go here to read more about them and their methodology.... https://www.prosperity.com/rankings.. 1 Like 1 Share

Kenyans have deceived themselves for so long, hiding the starvation, unemployment, slums, deprivation, poor economy and lack of ownership of their own country. All it took to burst the bubble is a Nigerian creation, nairaland. Now the Kenyans are stuck here in a never ending war with several countries whooping their arse with ease. Giving back to the society. gains of foreing company. SENIOR MINISTER AND ITALIAN PRIME MINISTER JOINTLY COMMISSION TVET PROJECT IN DORMAA EAST The Senior Minister, Hon. Ing. Yaw Osafo-Maafo with the Italian Prime Minister, H.E. Prof. Giuseppe Conte jointly inaugurated an agri-business Technical Vocational Education Training (TVET) center at Kyeremasu, Dormaa East in the Bono Region on Thursday, 28th November, 2019. The TVET project was built by Eni Ghana, an oil exploration and production company and named as the “Okuafo Pa Agri-Business Center” with the capacity to train 800 youth in crops and livestock production. The center is designed to provide a diversified agricultural development and entrepreneurship to the teaming youth in Dormaa East and other communities. In his address, the Senior Minister said, “Ghana is basically an agrarian economy having large tracks of land suited for various crops and good vegetation for rearing various breeds of animals. However, we have not done enough in adding value to our primary produce especially in the area of agribusiness”. He added that the country has paid lip service to the TVET sector and have not moved away from the colonial model of education which the focus being more on grammar and clerical skills over technical and vocational set of competence. Hon. Osafo-Maafo clearly indicated that His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, President of the Republic of Ghana recognizes that many of the Asian Tigers such as Malaysia, Singapore and South Korea took the fundamental decisions to transform their economies from production of raw materials for export to value-added and industrial economies. Senior Minister mentioned that as Chairman of the TVET Committee, review has been done on the entire TVET sector and reports were submitted to Cabinet. As part of the review of the TVET sector, a 5-year strategic plan was developed which has been approved by Cabinet. According to Hon. Osafo-Maafo, the strategic plan involves the setting up of TVET Service and TVET Council with whole division designated to technical and vocational education being managed by Director General. Again, as part of the implementation process of the TVET reforms; 20 TVET institutions to be equipped with modern equipment is being developed; a comprehensive skill-gap analysis in close collaboration with Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) to develop a curriculum and training content to meet real needs of industry; and all TVET schools being part of the free SHS policy has been initiated. 1 Like 1 Share
