Please someone should help me with this calculation.
If somebody invest 7.5m for 3yrs fgn savings bond @ 14% for example and hold it to the maturity date, what will be his quarterly and annual interest?

why not invest that sum in LAPO mfb fixed deposit at a much higher rate, and shorter time. 3years is lengthy. I will offer you a lucrative rate for a shorter time. you can harvest the interest every month and re-fix the capital on a monthly basis.

Good morning, everyone. I was hoping someone here could help clarify a couple of things regarding the Savings Bond.

1. I read that one has to subscribe through a stockbroker. May I have an idea of what that will entail cost-wise (fees et al)?

2. Is it at all possible to subscribe through a bank just like treasury bills?

CC: Kolping and any one knowledgeable about this.

Thanks in anticipation.
Re: FGN Savings Bond by Kolping: 2:12pm On Dec 02, 2019
1. Yes, you must subscribe through a stockbroker that is recognized by the Debt Management Office. The list of stockbrokers can be foud on the DMO website.

Regarding cost of registering with a stockbroker, it varies from stockbroker to stockbroker. You may have to check each one to find out their requirements.

2. No, you cannot subscribe through a commercial bank.

I hope this answers your questions.

Is the current rate 9.091% for 2yrs?
Again, if 5m is logged in for this rate, yearly interest I'm assuming is #454,550 and quarterly interest is #113,637.
Please someone should confirm this calculation for me.

Thank you.
I've heard of Primary and Secondary Market in Fgn Bond but I've not heard of primary market in Fgn Savings Bond.
Does it mean individuals are not allowed to bid for the primary market of Fgn Savings Bond and that is why it's not pronounced or it doesn't just exist at all?

You can't bid. The rate is fixed during the offer period. Once it is listed on the stock exchange you can then buy or sell.
