Nigerian youngster Samuel Chukwueze has missed out on the Kopa 2019 Trophy, awarded to the best player under the age of 21 by France Football.

At the annual Ballon d'Or ceremony held at at the Theatre du Chatelet, Paris on Monday night, Juventus central defender Matthijs de Ligt won the coveted prize now in its second edition.

A Netherlands international, de Ligt takes over from PSG superstar Kylian Mbappé as the winner of Kopa Trophy.

Chukwueze was on a ten-man shortlist along with Matthijs de Ligt, Jadon Sancho (Borussia Dortmund), Kai Havertz (Bayer Leverkusen), Lee Kang-in (Valencia), Joao Felix (Atletico Madrid), Vinicius Junior (Real Madrid), Mattéo Guendouzi (Arsenal), Moise Kean (Everton), and Andreï Lounine (Real Valladolid).

The Diamond Academy product broke into the Villarreal first team last season and helped them avoid relegation by scoring 5 goals in 26 appearances in La Liga.

Chukwueze represented Nigeria at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations and became the youngest player to score in the competition after finding the net against South Africa.

The Kopa Trophy was named after Raymond Kopa, who was the first French footballer to win the Golden Ball.

Mujtahida:

I find the gang mentality against komekn puerile and repulsive. It smacks of weakness and cowardice. It has become fashionable to attack him and particularly kellycute and ChrisKels more often than not respond to his posts with disgusting shower of put downs. Yes komekn is infuriatingly biased and unrepentant in his coloured views. Personally most times I just skip past his write ups as I cannot bear his prejudice and sanctimoniousness. However, I still believe that those who chose to engage him can do so without the derisive hurling of epithets and insults. Please the continuous insults directed at komekn should please stop.

Oga, dont cry more than the bereaved....it reeks of pretence and holier than thou. These claims and insults you make about those attacking a well known bigot and proven Nigeria players antagonist is very careless and ignorant and you dont set moral rules here , my friend.
Dont barge in here and call people "weaklings" and "cowards." There are proper and more civilized way to caution people. Practice what you preach because you have just broken your own rules. That ffool deserve every and anything that is hurled at him...I dont even know why he is here.

I think people are allowed to have diversed opinions and make remarks based on their current beliefs. I think komekn has a bias but I think we all do to some extent.

However, we should kill that belief we are always right because it hinders our ability to learn from others.

We might not agree with some of komekn or each others opinions but we should reduce the backlash. Backslashes can make a person hold back when he has an opinion.

Diverse points is what will keep this thread going on for long time.

Please house, we need to reduce the abuses to appreciate each other.

Finito.

I do what I feel is right, especially ,when I have no intention to disrespect any danm person. Did you read any insult in that post like mujtahid's ? No. I don't want a situation where somebody feels like they can reprimand people here like we are in high school....these are grown men.
You want to talk about elderly manners ? Do you know how many times that man has made various disparaging remarks about our young players and many people ignored him while he continued without any regard for us...spewing senseless, unreasonable and flat out deception.

For some time many here had relegated his nuisance to the trash can but recent turn of events in the form of our players had echoed back the many ways that man had written these players off and condemned to the abyss of eternal failure....that man is a very bad business for us here as fans and pundits. He brings a very negative energy here that is filled with hate , biases, bigotry , disloyalty , deception , manipulation ,mockery and degradation.
He brings absolutely nothing good to this gathering. That man is a terrible creature!

As for Mujtahid...he will be fine.

This is beyond hilarious.

Do you believe when I was younger, I turned down the chance of Coach Monday Sinclair taking me and my brother to the field to train us to become pro-footballers.

I bang my head anytime I think of it. Men, I would have been Don Papa Pep Sinclair by now.

European giants Real Madrid are interested in signing Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze.

According to Don Balon's Alberto Rambla, Real Madrid supremo Florentino Pérez is keeping tabs on the Nigeria international ahead of a potential bid.

Despite the fact Isco Alarcón has impressed in some matches and Rodrygo Goes has been one of the revelations of the season, Los Blancos still want to bolster their attack.

Chukwueze is rated in the region of 30 million euros by transfer market experts but the Yellow Submarine inserted a release clause of 63 million euros into his latest contract.

Apart from the interest from the Santiago Bernabéu, the Super Eagles rising star is also on the radar of Premier League and Bundesliga clubs.

Since making his debut for Villarreal, the Diamond Academy product has scored 11 goals and produced 5 assists in 52 matches.

Chukwueze was shortlisted for the 2019 Golden Boy and Kopa Trophy eventually won by Joao Felix and Matthijs de Ligt respectively
