In farming, what works for me, may not work for you, and what works for you may not work for me, so be open to ideas at all time, I always advice aspiring farmers like myself, "be a internet farmer" before you go Into the real thing and also try to gain knowledge and guidance from other farmers around you if you can, both online and offline [/b] early November I lost 12k worth of seeds [/bA] due to ignorance MY MISTAKE I BOUGHT ETNA F1 HABENARO SEEDS 10k worth and EFIA HABENARO SEED 2k worth Cocopeats 3k 25pieces of seedling trays 13750 Hired a small room in the village my farm is located.. and I started my nursery indoor, Procedure 1) dissolve the block of cocopeats with water and distribute the cocopeats lightly into the tray, 2) soaked my seeds in warm water for 6 to 12 hours 3) distribute 1 seed per cell into the seedling tray 4) apply water via knapsack sprayer every 3 days Problems I encountered 1) rats destroyed 30% of my seeds because I did the nursery indoor and felt theres no need for me to cover them with net 2) excess water and lack of sunlight led to leggy seedlings and damping off 3) I saw traces of fungi bacteria (white mucor) in most of the plants At 2 weeks old, all my old all of my plants stopped germinating, they were all looking unhealthy and stagnant, so I quickly called @okoroemeka and other co farmers I know in this forum explained the situation, they showed me my mistake which was lack of chlorophyll due to lack of sunlight and excessive watering.. though the seedlings could still be saved I was told but I decided to dispose them off and start afresh |

So I bought 2 sachets of efia seeds 1700 naira each went to search for dry cow manure in the area (compost) This time around I sprouted my pepper seeds with paper (paper towel method) pls note this process Is tedious when you're doing 1 to 3k pepper seeds Here is a link on how it's done https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Qg9RlStYTQ At 5 days old the roots of the seeds were already germinating in the paper towel( savet, news paper, toilet roll), so I transferred them to my nursery tray containing mixed cocopeats and dry cow manure at the 5th day.... I instructed my manager to only water the nursery when he sees the surface of the tray is dry And at 7 days old I applied zforce fungicide So today there they are at 14days old,.. including the 5 days on paper The first true leaves are already visible

Did you soak the efua seeds too for 6-12 hrs |
Re: Drip Irrigation Set Up by Nobody: 9:35pm On Dec 03, 2019 |
Barusho:Theres no need for soaking the seed when using paper towel method. But if you're going to plant directly, soak the seed 6 to 12 hour |
