Yes you did. But as at then, the jury was still out on him because he has not really got it going in Ligue 1 until lately. Awoniyi have had two fine seasons in Belgium so that surely formed my stand on they being practically at par in terms of talent and readiness for the Eagles.

But for now, Maja seems to be coming into his own in Ligue 1 and may shoot further ahead of Awo if he keeps this up.

In all, talentwise, I still see no big gap between Maja and Awo. Awo just needs a coach that trusts him to play consistently.

tbaba1234:

I remember i told you that i rated Maja much higher than Awoniyi at the moment. His runs and positioning are top notch.

Seeing how this lad takes his goals in France so far, it is obvious his finishing is wickedly good.

Spot on Brother. And to think Maja was initially on my Potential Long term bonafides make it all the more interesting...

The other four you listed made my list of Solid Bonafide backup options with Maja classed with Odey and Awoniyi. He may just leave those two behind soon enough... Lol

Sweet things ahead... grin

Hat trick for Maja...

Am l seeing correctly Maja has scored a hat trick and it's only the 65th minute of the game.

That's A HUGE STEP UP.

grin

Indeed he has... No way is he going back to the bench after following up on his goal in the last game with a hattrick so far today... Mbanu! Not happening. Lad have obviously been working and improving in training.

Indeed the bonafides backup list just got upgraded....

We now have Cyriel Dessers, Kelechi Iheanacho, Sadiq Umar, David Okereke and Josh Maja battling it out as the genuine leads to step in permanently as Osimhen's true backup going forward.

Did I initially say sweet things ahead? Mehn... Scratch all that. Sweet things are already here.... Sweet things na NOW! grin

He has not really been given minutes.

Minutes or no minutes you score hat trick and an assist.

Even if you have a manager who hates he will now do U - Turn and profess undying never ending love.

He has not had much opportunity, but l bet he will start the next match. Confidence is a great ingredient that all strikers need. His confidence must be on top now.

If he can maintain this trajectory then much to my suprise there will be two Nigerian fighting for top scorer in the French league.

I remember that, we got called all kinds of names. The league is a agricultural farmers league poor quality, etc.

It's quote apt to notice that we could effectively have two essentially league one players in the SE.

First Aribo now Maja. Both have stepped up and are bossing thier leagues.

Uhmmm... You do recall Maja was also used by Komekn to downgrade Osimhen right. grin To talk trash about Osimhen, Maja was touted as the better player and a better option due to his league 1 stats. Have you forgotten? I remember how all that went and we have been proven right on Osimhen simply being the best player among all our options.

Truth is some of us have seen Maja even before League 1. I have known of his talents since the time he was at Sunderland youth with a certain Joel Asoro. He played in the Championship at a point. Maja always showed good potentials but hyping the lad above a player (+using him to rubbish a player) who has now emerged as the Super Eagles No.1 striker today was a serious faux pas.
