The issue is your hypocrisy and tribalism that you people have now taken international. See this yoruba drug dealer (from 8 mins) telling the same police man that Igbos are bad people in Thailand. Years ago my colleague's brother who was studying for his Masters in Malaysia was arrested in the street and accused of being a criminal. He showed them his ID card but they ignored and took him to the police station. They contacted his family in Nigeria and said they will charge him to court (innocent or not) unless they "settle". Ask me....Who was the person that was doing the negotiations on behalf of the Malaysian police? A Nigerian with a yoruba name...So don't be surprised that they are now taking this behaviour to Ghanaian websites. It's nothing new.

I'm not surprised.

I was once in a plane flying from Abuja to lagos, this yoruba guy beside me was with sitting beside a German in the plane, while I sat close to the aisle on the same row.
I think the German was talking about travelling down Igboland to do a certain investment, the yoruba guy kept telling the guy how the East is eroded and cannot be business friendly, how the place is brimming with kidnappers and thieves, how no sensible person lives there and why he should invest in yorubaland only.

The German guy showed him pictures of his sister who is married to an Igbo man in Enugu and their kids and wondered how his sister must have survived in the East for 15 years without getting kidnapped, if the place is as bad as he paints it. This happened in 2014.

Did he have to badmouth the East in order to gain acceptance from a foreigner? Does it mean that for his own region to progress, the other regions must be railed against? I mustered all the restraint in me to keep my cool that day.

It's a pity really.

Your tribe is notorious as the criminal arrowhead of Nigeria. You are being profiled everywhere a bad image of Nigeria is projected.

You can choose to blame the bad image on the Yorubas, but all the nation rising up against the Igbos cannot be wrong at the same time.

Thailand, Malaysia, Europe, South Africa, and Ghana to mention a few!

Six persons have been arrested following a bloody clash between Ghanaian and Nigerian traders in Accra.

Three persons, according to the police, were injured during the Monday morning fight at Kwame Nkrumah Circle.

The fight follows the closure of shops belonging to some Nigerian traders.

Earlier report suggested that the aggrieved Nigerian traders attacked their Ghanaian counterparts with guns and cutlasses.

ACP Abraham Acquaye, the Nima Police Divisional Commander, confirmed the arrest and injuries to DGN Online.

There has been tension between Ghanaian and Nigerian traders in recent time.

Shops belonging to Nigerian traders in Kumasi were shut down this year allegedly by the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA).

Ghanaian traders feel foreigners, particularly Nigerians, Chinese and Lebanese have taken over their retail business.

Vice President of All Chairmen Association, a Ghanaian Traders’ group, Kojo Dankwa, told journalists at Circle, that Nigerians have succeeded in taking over business from Ghanaians through unfair trade practices.

He said Nigerian traders in Ghana were recruiting their relatives from Nigeria and placing them at vantage points to gain hold of the market over their Ghanaian counterparts.

A Ghanaian trader, Kwabena Adjei, in an interview with DGN Online could not understand why Pakistanis were even into retail deal in Ghana.

You can choose to write a lot of crude comment against the naturally adorned Yorubas but that dosen’t stop the fact that the Igbos are famous for being shady minded and they are known international drug pusher second to Mexico.

The north contributes to the Nigerian terrorism index around the globe while the Igbos are the arrowhead for shady deals and drug deals across continents.

You can choose to deny from now till eternity but it dosen’t stop the self evident truth about the criminal mindset of you folks.

Wake up and smell the coffee, every country have learnt to profile the Igbos separately from the rest of the Nigerian tribes. We all saw on front page when one of you was crying that he was deported from Pakistan for being Igbo.

I don't speak against yoruba, but why does it seem that for some yorubas to promote themselves they must slander the Igbos? Why not market yourself without trying to demarket other regions.
It's good you didn't deny that your brothers do this, because it happens EVERYDAY and you even see it sometimes where you live or work.

The yorubas are the pioneer of drug dealing, Queen salawa abeni, kwam1, sunny ade, kollington and many yoruba artists and fuji musicians all hid drugs in their musical instruments when going to perform in London and USA in the 80s and 90s. It's common knowlege

I also wonder why the yoruba guy in that video didn't tell the Thai authorities how yoruba pilgrims are always on the death row list in Saudi prisons for drug related offense.

I guess it's the 'magnify the Ibo crimes and hide our crimes' methodology that will help yoruba become a world power.

If you could access me properly on Nairaland, you will agree with me that I’m not always on an offense against any tribe, I always react when I see someone is trying to demean my tribe.

You posted a narration about a Yoruba guy which I don’t deny, it could be true or false. The guy said it based on his own experience and perspective. Just like you will tell a foreigner never to visit the north coz of the Boko Haram crisis (a northerner living in Kano will see you as a bigot coz to him Kano is different from Borno?.

This thread is about an imaginary Ghanaian profiling Igbos and you and your kinsmen suddenly made it about the Yorubas. You attacked first coz I don’t know why you think the Ghanaian can’t actually say that.

Wake up Bro, the Igbo image is battered around the globe, it’s not only Ghana. There are multiple countries that have already started judging Nigerians by their tribes and recent happenings give credence to that fact.

You can choose to deny all you can, it’s none of my business.

I also do not insult any tribe, I only try to set records straight so that fallacies and revisionism do not permeate into our consciousness and become reality.

In 2015 immediately after buhari came into power, a yoruba guy was sent back to Nigeria from a US airport by the American immigration even with a valid visa, he even came on TV and newspapers to lament about his ordeal.

Do we then assume it because the immigration must have read about cybercrimes, human killing, rituals and fraud common place in the SW?

Every tribe has bad people, but pointing fingers against others in order to gain sympathy and acceptance from foreigners is hypocrisy and propaganda. It's like gossip that bad women and wives do.

The case of the Igbo guy from Pakistan is totally different from the example you gave above. He said it himself that they ask him what tribe he belongs to before deporting him.

Can you provide the source to show the Yoruba guy you claimed to be deported was profiled based on ethnicity?

To conclude, there are lot of Ghanaians that understand Nigeria politics and terrains and some of them are even on Nairaland. Don’t you think there might be 20% chances that a Ghanian actually said that instead of blaming it on the Yorubas!

Seems you’re not getting the trend here. It’s a common knowledge that the name Igbo is the Nigerian tribe name that is synonymous to drug in the international scene.

Are some Yorubas into drug, Yes. But what is the percentage relative to the Igbos? For every news that grace the Nigeria media space about drug trafficking, almost 85% are usually related to the Igbos.

Like I said, I’m not here to argue a self evident truth. You can continue to deny all you can, but other countries knows best.

I am surprised by the comments on the front page. Ghanaians know most of the tribes in Nigeria. They know a lot about us. They are the closest country to Nigeria in terms of relationship. Many of them even lived or visit Nigeria from time to time while some have lived here all their lives. So it should not surprise Igbos if Ghanaians know which tribe does business the most in Nigeria and bring his brothers to form a nucleus of traders. The are also well grounded on this forum to know some igbos behave unruly in Lagos,Kano or SA and the fact they call themselves Biafrans.

The issue here is that even if the Igbos know the news actually originated from the Ghanaians they will still blame the Yorubas.

We have suffered a lot of accusations from them even for ordinary things such that the liberal Yorubas among us are starting to wake up to their antics.

Normally this thread shouldn’t have any Yoruba word attributed to it but they all started dragging the Yorubas into this from the very first comment.

What should I do with the names mentioned?

Why are you trying so hard to erase the drug emblem on the Igbo image? You can’t erase it by bringing out Yoruba names coz if I start bringing Igbo arrested for drug trafficking, Nairaland website will malfunction from too much posts.

You should rather be an advocate in your local community meeting to sensitize your kinsmen to desist from the culture of drug trafficking so as to save the little image left of the Igbo name in the international space.

Although there are lot of well respected Igbos that are clean, but unfortunately the criminal ones are usually loud mouthed thereby overshadowing the good ones!

Look at this liar. Dignity no dey your dictionary. NOBODY asked him anything about Igbos. Show us when he was asked about Igbos.
The gist of the interview is that the guy was caught for using his Thailand wife as his drug mule and tried to use tribalism as a way of escaping justice

You are a hypocrite. Go and sensitise your people in Saudi tongue you are not fooling anyone.

I'm done with you
