TimD: Very unlikely. Google UK skills list and see if Social Work is there, if it’s not, it means it’s impossible. Social work is only an option when you’re a dependent of someone that’s on Tier 2 or a citizen is sponsoring. But if na you want the tier 2 visa, you gats do the “comparison” courses wey you mention. |

claremont: I think what Ralph is saying is that he wants UK’s immigration policies to apply to everyone that is not a Brit. At the moment, other Europeans are treated better than non-Europeans. But if they push for brexit, all foreigners may be treated the same. I’m sitting on the fence on this brexit thing because I know it doesn’t favour their economy to carry-on with brexit but I also know that if they succeed, maybe after 20 years they will start enjoying the dividends of the separation. |

Aphrodite007: Na oyinbo accountant you dey use? Business expenses must be wholly, reasonably exclusively and necessarily incurred for the sole purpose of the business on paper . Please get yourself a switched on Accountant. However, you cant afford to mess around with VAT. You're just a tax collector for the government. |

wonlasewonimi:Sometimes I don't get receipts for some expenses like food. These are not big expenses but it adds up, how do I claim these without receipts? |

dustydee: Bro, you have to protect the environment! I use revolut card to pay for my meals. If hmrc wants to see receipts, I will print the statement for them. At the end of the month, I add them up and take out of business account. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Aphrodite007: You should listen to your accountant or it will cost you more if an enquiry is done on you by HMRC you will have to pay back all the wrong deductions. 2 Likes |

Does anyone know if the Nigerian High Commission in London shuts down for an extended period during the xmas holidays, or only during the bank holidays? I've checked their website and there's no info about it. |

spacyzuma: I have never seen a very useless organisation like this. Based on the sensitivity of their services, they should be communicating such information ahead of time. 1 Like |

Horlaidey007: Where are you applying from? What are your qualifications? What experience do you currently have? Know that the answer to your questions can greatly vary depending on the Answers to the above. Generic answer. 1. Arrange CV (google UK CV for your desired position) 2. Write a cover letter ( as above) 3. Utilise LinkedIn ( populate it with your experience etc) 4. If you have some project showcase it on git or a portfolio website etc. 5. Search and apply for Jobs on job websites (indeed, reed, jobserve etc 6. Search and apply on IT recruiters website 7. If you get a job proceed with visa application. if not go to step 1. Above. Good luck |

LagosismyHome: More reason why I wont even trust the so called Australian Point based system offered is because of their curren half baked post study Visa permit to be introduced in summer of 2021. Reading the fine print, those 2 years doesnt add to your "yr of continuous residence in the UK" so if you cant switch to Tier 2 in those 2 years like this another course/money loading.... for the next 8/9years |

fatima04: Those 2 years of PSW previously didnt count to residency and somehow people hussled the work visa for 5 years and naturalised . Especially if they can bring back HSMP that didnt tie you to an employer 2 Likes 1 Share |

fatima04: The 2 year PSW is a ‘dead end’ route. It has ALWAYS been like that. The Australian-style PBS is a different kettle of fish. |

LagosismyHome: Oh my goodness, I can’t imagine what you must have gone through. Imagine paying for VAT that you never collected + interest: Just Wow. I read a lot, even before my accountant advises me, I must have checked the whole google and YouTube for answers, they are very good and have a great reputation but I don’t trust anybody (like you said, during investing, they vamoose) but thanks so much for the advice. I know they don’t joke with VAT so I don’t intend touching the VAT money, it’s not mine. What I was actually asking is if they Check every receipt and can find out that the Uber I entered in Swinton is not wholly for business purpose .. |

Rubyventures: Of course- if there’s ever any wrong deductions that would be paid back- the issue is how they will ascertain that the deduction is wrong, when they did not put blackbox in my bag to be following me around |

wonlasewonimi: Wait, revolut makes receipts without you actually collecting the receipt and snapping it abi you’re talking about the fact that you just print out your bank statements as proof of expenses? Is like I’m hearing double.. |

Aphrodite007: Me I an madam research but not for one sec did it occur to me to check what I was told to do. I had false comfort that shebi he is an experienced accountant and I am paying £100 a month so he will know his job. When HMRC started they first printed out the lines which states clearly flat scheme returns on total earnings....it was there black and white . ... I changed accountant after that and now check with my eyes On this your question. Even a magician can not tell . Shebi it your business so if there is receipt as backup then yes . If I go to naija for personal and one day I log into my company bank account to look at it ,no be work too.... HMRC cannot tell you that it is not . Worse case they ask for evidence of fare payment 2 Likes |

And I’ve been announcing to all my friends to come.. let me go and retract my announcement please- it’s not me they will swear for And if you see how their school fees have shot up, masters is now 24k |

LagosismyHome: work to log into company bank account Sorry o. I can’t imagine what you went through. My own sha told me to go with my flat rate because I will only remit 13% of VAT for now, then next year, I’ll switch over. But I won’t even touch that outstanding 7% They say fear-fear is the beginning of wisdom |
