That’s Nigeria’s number one bane, people will think corruption should come first, but illiteracy is actually the problem. From the illiterate people in power whose sole aim is to milk her populace dry, to the illiterate people who keeps voting in the same set of old people ![]() 2 Likes |

How are you going to set up so many schools? How are you going to ensure that you get well-trained teachers? Who is going to pay for the buildings, their maintenance and the staff? How will you equip these schools? What role will digital media play in the classroom? Honestly, I am so tired of politicians telling us what needs to be done without presenting a proper plan on how to do it and a budget plan. Even my child can tell you why education is important. Tell us something new. Show us that you have potential and reasonable and realistic solutions. You are paid to do it. |

[Oga, I bet to disagree. I have lived in kd a bit, visited many northern cities. This is a fact. The world has gone far far away living the north behind. Remember Pakistan, indonisia, morroco, and many other countries are Muslims, they are far more educated in whatever language. Spoken English alone is not bases of education. Education is to broaden the mind, thinking. The ruling class in the north are not serious to educate their people so they can sheepishly follow them. quote author=Danzakidakura post=84610839]Northerners are not illiterate as they may want you to believe, illiterates rule the country locate all the military high institution to north, monopolize every resources from south to north, control every institutions of government. Systematically cause fight between two major educated group while they keep fighting. And you call them illiterate if this is signs and symbols of illiteracy them i want to be an illiterate too.[/quote] 1 Like |

Firstly im a hausa guy from Kaduna, He is right but this shouldn't be an avenue to make mockery of the north, the question is what is the way forward? If poverty can be reduced I think illiteracy won't be a problem anymore, I'm a northerner and one funny thing about our people is their I don't care attitude, giving birth to kids that you dont have the financial viability to train, for some the primary and secondary objective is to feed, quality education is an added bonus. Its not just about sending kids to school, as a parent you check what your kid is being taught and assess his progress, but given the fact that most parent send their wards to government schools where they pay little or no amount for tuition, they don't care about their education and how their kids are coping , all they know is my child is in school and that is what's wrong about the north. But thank God today there's noticeable changes in the number of students going to schools most especially the females, I believe the next generation will be better. The wise trace their steps and amend their errors when criticized, only the fools will get defensive and keep languishing in self delusion 7 Likes |

titiloyeblog: But this "BA TURENSHI PEOPLE OF NORTHERN NIGERIA" like political power too much. Despite their lack of education they know how to strategies and keep power in the north. See the way they dislodge Ex-President Jonathan from his presidential seat in Abuja. They even went as far as his state, Bayelsa state to claim power. |
