Good evening mummies please I dont understand how my belly is measuring 8 weeks ahead oh. I'm currently 24 weeks but today when doctor measured he said 32 weeks and I have been worried..am I expecting a massive baby ?...I dont eat anything out of the ordinary so I'm wondering how this baby keeps growing bigger and bigger.. please anyone with similar experience?..how did you manage it and was your baby too big

First of all scans can lie!!! Especially when the pregnancy has gone far. Go to another centre and redo the scan. one of my 3rd trimester scans told me my son was weighing 5k!! And threw me in panic mode ( he came out 4kg).


Secondly go check for gestational diabetes, GD is the number 1 culprit when baby weight goes off the chat.

Try and check at another centre and have them measure babies head size and femur length(something called percentile or so) to be sure the weight is not just a tall baby rather than big.

If you can pack your baby's bag now, beautiful, cos you will be amazed at how tired you'd get when you decide to wait till around that time. Don't be the mommy that will be rushing to pack amidst labour pain, my mom is a culprit of that .

I saw a hot water flask in the market "mega", heard its super dope.
Don't forget to pray, pray, pray. Even all the medical instruments that will be used on you, pray for them.

I think it's govt hospitals that insist on 12wks. Mine asked me when I wanted to start. Then I was still 7wks but ulcer landed me in hospital. I told him to decide and he said December but if any issue before then I should still report to hospital. Actually I landed back the next week and was diagnosed with severe malaria which he treated and gave me another appointment date. It's private anyway

That's surprising though coz mine is a private hospital too.

I'm new here and my first preg. 6+3weeks gone counting from LMP.
I've not been able to eat well lately and be feeling malaria-symptoms kind of pain

I put a call through to my Doc after missing my flow and he said I should come over to the hospital for drugs or buy folic acid
and come back in 2months time to reg for antenatal.
I hope I'm on track?

Thank you for your response ma. I haven't even done the scan yet just planning to do it today..its the fundal height or so that doctors measure with measuring tape that put me at 32 weeks, which doctor said could be a sign that baby is very big..my GD test is in 3 weeks so I guess I'll know by then. Thanks for responding

Hello mummies..Can I still do ultrasound to determine the sex of my baby at 36 weeks?

I am not a good story teller but I will try and put it down anyways .
on the night of Friday the 15th of November my husband came home with pineapple as requested by me , I ate more than half of it not because I was craving for it but because I was just tired of being pregnant. No sooner had I taken than I started feeling funny. I soon started feeling guilty for wanting to trigger labor lol . In my mind I praised people who fell into labor through their own doings , I was like " people can be hard hearted Sha". lol

long story cut short, I started feeling little contractions in the midnight and I couldn't sleep well . In the morning 16th of November , it stopped .
some minutes past 8 in the morning I went out to go and get bread only to be hit by whatever down below while I was coming back. I stopped in my tracks and someone had to go and get my neighbor to help me move . I was helped home and then the pain stopped. In the night of that same day the contractions become regular but I waited little at home hoping I will fall into real labor in the morning.

on the 17th it became stronger so I headed to my midwife's place but she was no where to be found . we went to the hospital where she works still we couldn't find her and by that time I was feeling teeth gnashing pains ! I had to be taken to a government teaching hospital thanks to a good man who advised us to do so . I got there and I had to be wheeled into the checking room . The doctors were few and I had to keep screaming for like 30 minutes before I was attended to . A doctor and some nurses came to ask WHY I WAS SCREAMING SO LOUD , I was asked to lift my cloth and they realized I was in the 2nd or third stage can't remember which stage. Immediately I was asked to stand up and walk to the delivery room . I was half way to the place before I felt a strong urge to push , I stopped and tried to stop the urge before I knew what was happening a very wicked and concerned doctor (lol) drew my hands and dragged me along while I was shouting at him for lacking Human sympathy . I got to the bed and on the first contraction I pushed and baby came out .

I thought that was the end until one of the team told me I had a tear and internal tear. Kai ! I begged for pain relief but they didn't give me . let me not bore you with the gory details but I was stitched on two occasions when the first round of stitch couldn't stop the bleeding.

Alhamdulillah. I came back home with my Baby Girl the next day. Glory be to God
