She has 5kids. For that, a nanny would be cheaper than daycare. I highly doubt if the government wil subsize payment for nanny services.

There are websites offering Nanny and child minder services. One can also find by joining Facebook groups within the community. I know a nanny could cost around 2k and up for maybe 2 kids. I don't know if they will want more money for more kids.

I am seeing $30 bucks an hour. Chai.

This is where I'd join in deriding Canada or "badmouthing", hopefully I don't get caned for airing my honest views. I could share some awesome Christmas abi Winter pics but fact is that all the fun starts and ends at it looking picturesque. The experience is often lacklustre if not outrightly boring, it can easily leave a Nigerian complaining or just realising its empty lol. Winter and its snow might look pretty but trust me when I say the true beauty is the summer sun, lol there isnt any sane person who loves Canadian winter. Anyways, I digress.


Our christmas at best has the vibe of a workers day public holiday in Naija.... It is even worse for our bros who are muslims, their salah here can easily get them feeling homesick & dejected. In my opinion, Canadian christmas is awfully quiet. It's a caucus kinda thing, mostly happens indoors with your family and close friends only, unlike naija where you can be a stranger and still catch the festive feeling even weeks before. This could be a good or bad thing, depending on your kind of person, and your networks here.

Personally I miss the pomp and liveliness of not just naija's christmas but any celeberation in Naija and with it's people. But then again, Naija comes with the chaos that caused me to run away to Canada. Hence when we complain, its often with a tongue in cheek.

3 good meals a day , I really don’t see how you could spend less than that in GTA / Ottawa / MTL.. Can’t speak for other places

na to born two max and zip it up. Except you already had them from naija where support dey. Cost of raising a child here is not beans. With the rising cost of everything one can think of. The child benefit is hardly enough, and once you start earning something substantial, the benefit goes down to less than 100 bucks a month to close to nothing. Post secondary education is not cheap either, especially if the kids decide to school away from home.

My question though, is for people who work or know of Senior Nursing Facilities or Adult Day Care or any thing like that.

My workplace here has been so gracious to allow organize group exercise classes for Seniors which is what really interests me. However, what I'd like is more information from landed colleagues who have gone this route.

It may be a total change in career from Physio to Adult Care or even just working as a physio in a Senior Nursing Facility.

We intend to land in Alberta because we have family there thus making settling a little less stressful. I checked the Alberta website and I saw that mostly what is required is a post-secondary education and some 18 months certification from a college / university in Alberta. Some organizations even let you learn on the job.

Any one with more information? I'd really appreciate it. Even from other provinces.

Register your company Inc. or Ltd, get your HST account number to receive HST for the govt and start hunting for jobs. No big deal. Licensing requirement if any is a separate thing which should be specific to your niche .

I don't know where you got your info from. I believe this depends on your profession/industry e.g. In construction, winter months are the slowest, For healthcare, winter months are good, some are not even affected at all etc
