VaughnSangrey:We could argue about who ducked who all day. I struggle to believe that Ortiz could not nail a top 10 Heavyweight all his career. And remember beating Ortiz also boosts their CV Christian Hammer is the only half decent guy he's faced bar Wilder. The rest are tomato cans VaughnSangrey:Good you pointed that out. Wilder in his 29th fight was fighting a 42 year old Fraudley Harrison. Regardless neither of them fought enough competent guys that could expose them Ortiz had his chance. He ducked Wilder and so we would never know. When opportunity comes you don't tell opportunity you're not ready so Ortiz's excuse is ducking VaughnSangrey:Fury got hit in the 4th and came back. Ortiz controlled the fight up till the 7th round. Mike Tyson was not a one punch guy either. You do realize combo hits are actually likelier to lead to a referee stoppage and harder to recover from. Wilder can be touched and last fight showed that more than ever. Best believe AJ has a very strong chance against Wilder. |

KNIGHTBlaed:Today's fight if not anything else just showed how badly unprepared AJ was for the first fight. It's almost like he didn't train at all |
Re: The NBA Begins by KNIGHTBlaed(m): 1:40am On Dec 08, 2019 |
VaughnSangrey: As much as I love AJ, you have spoken the truth. Right from that first round after AJ's landed that that gave Ruiz that cut, I was thinking it would be a KO the next round or next couple of rounds. AJ had more than 4 chances to go for the kill but he held back and stuck to dancing. Definitely the gameplan was not to get caught and just to reclaim his titles, but this fight should have ended in a KO. AJ needs to work harder, he fought smart tonight but he was so scared and it was obvious and like you said, he ran from Ruiz all night. He should have his confidence back now but he should train and work harder. |
Re: The NBA Begins by A40(m): 1:43am On Dec 08, 2019 |
KNIGHTBlaed:My main issue with Fury is his lack of power. That lack of ability to put Wilder away is what makes me worried. Ersan is not wrong in the sense that Wilder only has to be perfect for 2 seconds. However the real antidote for a guy like Wilder is a hard hitter like him. Go and check that fight with Fury and see how he came back from the 12th round knockdown. If Fury had KO power he knocks Wilder down or out and that might just have won him the fight |
Re: The NBA Begins by A40(m): 1:46am On Dec 08, 2019 |
AJ threw almost 50 more punches Threw three times the jabs Ruiz threw but he ran. If he didn't run nko? Anyway I hope they sort this out in 2020 once and for all. This would never have been possible in the good old days. We would have seen these guys fight and these forum debates would be unnecessary |
Re: The NBA Begins by Nobody: 1:55am On Dec 08, 2019 |
A40: But Whyte admitted to ducking Ortiz for whatever BS reason. Heavyweights don't have to fight him to boost their CV because the division is thin, they just have to keep winning and eventually they will get that fight. Ortiz being avoided was one of the worst kept secrets in boxing. I remember people saying it will be wilders first real test, claiming he was going to be exposed. And then he beat him and Ortiz immediately became an old man. Wilder went to the Olympics after less two years of training, even his olympic teammates were laughing at him and he ended up with a bronze medal, the only American to get on the podium for boxing at that Olympics if I remember correctly. Of course his handlers had to keep him busy, he fought multiple times a year to build experience since he turned pro after that. This is a guy that was originally supposed to be a basketball player and got into boxing to take care of his special needs daughter. Point is he needed the experience and had to work his way up so he fought as many bums as possible. Fury went down twice, in the 9th and then in the 12th. Point is as good as he is he still went down. Please don't compare flex mentallo to Tyson. Their styles are not similar at all. Tyson style was suited to the sort of power he carried. He was a swarmer who fought on the inside and got in your face and tried to soften you like a pressure cooker. Plus the way he bobbed and weaved, his movement, a well rounded fighter. So of course he landed flurries and was able to avoid getting hit while doing it. AJ tries fighting like that he dies. |
Re: The NBA Begins by A40(m): 2:20am On Dec 08, 2019 |
VaughnSangrey:I didn't claim Whyte didn't duck Ortiz I'm saying it is not possible for every mid-tier boxer including those with nothing to lose to duck Ortiz. Beating Ortiz would have boosted their CVs and put them in the title conversation as well. Of course Ortiz being Wilder's first test speaks to the tomato cans he fought. How can your 40th fight be your first real fight and we won't question who you have been fighting all along? Ortiz is 6 years older than Wilder, of course he's old. VaughnSangrey:I know Wilder's story. I'm a fan myself but you're propagating that he's some unstoppable force. He's not and fighting some of the dregs of the division for 85% of his career has no doubt helped him. VaughnSangrey:I'm not saying AJ is like Tyson in terms of overall boxing style please don't get it confused. I'm saying AJ like Tyson relies on multiple combinations and has one of the best uppercuts I've ever seen. AJ is not a swarmer or pressure fighter like Tyson but if he wobbled Wilder he has the combination and hand speed to drop a guy like Tyson used to |
Re: The NBA Begins by Nobody: 2:20am On Dec 08, 2019 |
A40: Dude, even AJ will admit he ran in that fight. Even when Ruiz wanted him to meet him in the middle you can see your man didn't want any part of that. Like I said, kudos to him, he did what he had to and he has his belts back buy let's call a spade a spade. Mayweather would be proud, take that how you want. |
Re: The NBA Begins by A40(m): 2:25am On Dec 08, 2019 |
VaughnSangrey:That was not a close fight my gee. You want AJ to stand and trade with a desperate fighter like he foolishly did the last time. He really boxed today and his inability to KO Andy was more of a testament to Ruiz's granite chin. If AJ boxed like this in the first fight he would not have lost his belts He out jabbed Ruiz, out punched him by a country mile and that's that for that. |
Re: The NBA Begins by Nobody: 2:33am On Dec 08, 2019 |
A40: I didn't say it was close. If he can't stand in the middle with Ruiz who will he stand in the middle with? Like I said, he boxed well and got his belt back. But the question here is how that fighting style will help him against the big 2? |
Re: The NBA Begins by Nobody: 2:44am On Dec 08, 2019 |
A40: Before Vlad who did fury fight? He arguably lost to John McDermott too. Before broken Vlad who did AJ fight and please don't say that frauds name. Like I said, the division is a wasteland and that's why they're not doing themselves any favors not fighting each other. Credit to fury, he has the biggest balls amongst them all. I'm not saying he's unbeatable. Fury can beat him and depending on where you stand may already have. I'm just saying it's highly unlikely AJ can. Well I'm wondering where those combinations were today. If he's afraid of ruizs power or hand speed then what about wilders? |
Re: The NBA Begins by A40(m): 2:50am On Dec 08, 2019 |
VaughnSangrey:Lool you're grossly underestimating Ruiz. No smart fighter would stand in the middle with you. Fury would never do that. I wanted to see how AJ would respond to Ruiz's hooks and I was impressed. I'm convinced while his chin is still suspect he's no Frank Bruno and that gives him a chance I don't know how he fares against Fury since Fury is more evasive than anyone AJ ever faced but you see for Wilder. I know he's never faced anyone with above average skills and elite KO power. I have zero fear for Wilder after that Ortiz fight, a younger boxer would have KO'd Wilder |
Re: The NBA Begins by Nobody: 5:30am On Dec 08, 2019 |
A40: Nigerians from the casuals to those who have never seen a boxing match in their life have been saying the most absurd things all over twitter. I guess people are excited, I'll leave you lot to your fantasies. Better yet if the fight does happen, after your man gets pummelled, i will try as hard as possible not to say i told you so. |
Re: The NBA Begins by A40(m): 7:04am On Dec 08, 2019 |
Overeem was cursed by the MMA gods with a glass chin. Or in this case lips as he is going to need a new pair after Bigi Boy tore this one in half He was literally 4 seconds away from winning that fight. Not impressed in Jairzinho though. Ngannou would drop him Round 1 |

Re: The NBA Begins by A40(m): 7:25am On Dec 08, 2019 |
VaughnSangrey:Lmaoooo why the hell is Tito still fighting? Is CTE a joke to these guys? I heard Samuel Peter is still fighting. WTF Even Overeem should strongly consider retirement. |
Re: The NBA Begins by Nobody: 7:29am On Dec 08, 2019 |
A40: Exactly my thoughts on overeem as well. Didn't even bother watching that one. I think its a little too late for Tito as far as CTE. The thing with these fighters is they have horrible financial planning and end up broke a year after they retire so they keep scrounging for paychecks. A few just miss the high and what not but most of them fight because they have to. Its really sad. |

Been looking at the Gracie Barra BJJ progression ladder to see how much longer before this happens. Truth is with the level of JJ hes shown against elite competition he should be a black belt but i understand he joined a new organization and he has to follow the right steps. I knew it was only a matter of a few weeks since he reached the mandated time period. Congrats on your purple belt Jonny.

If Ben Simmons plays like this every night, look out the rest of the NBA. Dude looked like Mini Giannis out there tonight. He played extremely aggresive like someone lit a fire in His belly. Tbf to Him, His Defence has been stellar this season(DPOY Level) He just needs His offence to catch up to His defence. Once it does, He'll be a perenial MVP candidate. |
Re: The NBA Begins by A40(m): 1:31pm On Dec 08, 2019 |
VaughnSangrey:It was a decent fight if you could get past the sight of Bigi Boy's butt crack. Not a classic by any stretch but it's incredibly rare to see two heavies go the full nine. I was impressed with Overeem till that last 4 seconds happened. He fought smart and controlled proceedings. The juiced up Overeem would have won this fight easily As for Tito I guess he would be fine if he keeps on fighting bums like Alberto Del Rio. He reminds me of Ken Shamrock who Dana White famously said he would pay not to fight. Look at our guy Samuel Peter who got KOd in the first round last night. Just sad |
Re: The NBA Begins by Nobody: 1:49pm On Dec 08, 2019 |
chic2pimp: Ben Simmons for Rookie of the year. On a more serious note, he shows these flashes every once in a while and hes always been a great defender. But without any form of a jumper his scoring is too one dimensional for him to consistently score 20+ a night. Rondo is shooting about 50% from 3 this year on 3 attempts a game, i think theres hope for simmons, he just needs to put the work in. Glad to see he made another 3 pointer and a few Js as well. |
Re: The NBA Begins by Nobody: 3:31pm On Dec 08, 2019 |
A40: I guess that says more about his opponent than it does about the reem. He had a stellar career, champion at almost every promotion hes been with, i just don't know what people like him and BJ Penn are still looking for in the octagon, it certainly can't be worth the damage to their body. Have you heard Tito speak recently? That mans brain isn't fine. |
Re: The NBA Begins by chic2pimp(m): 3:34pm On Dec 08, 2019 |
VaughnSangrey: It's just mental with Simmons. Once He Figures it out mentally, they'd be no stopping this man. He has all the tools and talent to be 30+ scorer on a nightly basis even without a Jumper. Just needs to be more aggresive. He plays better without Embiid on the court it seems. If Philly don't get to the NBA Finals in the next 2-3 years, they really should consider trading one of them. Most likely Embiid as whereas Ben is Ironman,Joel it looks like won't have a Long NBA career. |
Re: The NBA Begins by Nobody: 3:42pm On Dec 08, 2019 |
chic2pimp: Dude, in this NBA a point guard or point forward definitely needs some kind of a jumper. Not just about scoring 30 against the cavs but i'm talking about performing in high stake games in the playoffs. Like i said part of his problem is with embiid harris and richardson hes a fourth scoring option and has to create for these guys and that has affected his output and growth offensively. You're right, the sixers are in win now mode and if that doesn't pan out and their stars still aren't reaching their ceiling they have very tough decisions to make. |
