10 cubes of sugar in a 5cl cup is the same as 10 cubes of sugar in a 10cl cup. If you consume the entire contents of either cups, it's 10 cubes of sugar in your system.

Same as 25% vol alcohol only in a cup or in a large cup mixed with juice

I kills the drinker , the body breaks the sugars first before taking on the alcohol, basically 2 hours longer intoxication

Wrong, very wrong @ the text in bold.

Your volumetric analysis was very correct, but wrong inference.

Analytically, you are obviously a good chemistry student but poor in drawing inferences.

The alcoholic content per unit volume was reduced but the overall alcoholic content is intact.

Content is different from concentration bro.. Concentration is in per 100 ml..

Now it's assumed not all will b consumed but 100ml. If taken all, then all 30% are consumed.

So I was chilling in one beer parlour today when two guys came in for drinks, one of them ordered for a bottle of Goldberg while the other ordered for a bottle of Stout. While the girl was about going to bring the drinks, the stout guy asked "Do you have nutri milk?", she replied with a yes and he asked her to bring it, explaining to his friend that it reduce the effect of the alcohol in the stout and the guy just nodded, but I was thinking of how that would be possible when the full bottle of stout will get into your body system with extra sugar from the nutri milk, and I felt it should be more damaging but I decided to mind my business and bring it here. Doctors in the house, is the guy correct with his ideology?.

To answer this, let's understand these basics
Alcoholic drinks are labelled with their alcoholic contents usually in percentage. For example to determine the alcohol content of beer of 5% alcohol in a 50cl bottle. 5% alcohol is same as saying that there is 5grams of alcohol in 10cl or 100mls of beer. Therefore if someone consumes the 50cl or 500mls, he has taken in 5 x 5 =25 grams of alcohol ie 25gms/500mls
When he "dilutes" this beer in question with a non alcoholic drink, say sprite of 30cl or 300mls and drinks the whole content, although the concentration of the alcohol is now 25gms/800mls, he has still taken in 25gms of alcohol.
Now the physiological effects of these two concentrations ie 25gms/500mls and 25gms/800mls may differ in their time of action. While it may take 25gms/500mls faster to intoxicate because it is more concentrated, 25grms/800mls may take longer because it is less concentrated. Note that their intoxicating effect is as a result of the concentration of the alcohol per unit volume of the total drink, it is NOT that the sprite has a special power or ingredient that neutralized the alcohol.
Using the example the OP sited therefore, the lady may not feel the effect of the alcohol until after sometime when the concentration of alcohol in her system reaches the threshold that leads to intoxication.

Very good.

You have stated it more succinctly and very graphically.

I read through all the comments, this here clearly explains the case in very few words. Thumb up.

it depends on the your level of intake,,its called diluting since u wont be taking much of alchohol when u dilute it

It is called dilution of the alcoholic content through chemical reactions . Hence, it reduces d effect of the alcohol. Thank me later.
there is no chemical reaction, in diluting alchohol

why are you comparing mass and volume
,40% alcholic content is 40ml/100 ml of the content is alchohol
that is 40ml alcholol and 60ml water or base solution ,thats d meaning
which primary school did you attend

I remember sometime in 2016 I drank black bullet(the blue can) I drank 2 within 5 mins, after that, a lady at the bar told me in the next 20 mins, I wouldn't know myself again.

I had 10k in my pocket and I didn't wanna lose it to pick pocketers.

I left immediately, and took bike straight to my home. I paid 800, something that should be 150 by bus.

I reached my home, alighted from the bike, paid the bike man, opened my gate, closed it and went in.

Immediately I pulled my cloth off, I couldn't get myself again, my eyes just closed and it was asif I couldn't control my body again.

That experience was horrific, after that day I decided not to drink or take anything alcoholic.

But before then, I took coconut water, it didn't work.

That bullet drink is so powerful. So even if you mix full bottled water or juice, it won't stop the alcohol from acting in you.

Please and please, all the ladies should be very careful this watchnight or new year's eve, always monitor your time, don't stay too long at a party, and if you notice you are high; just lie to ur BF that you wanna pee, from there go straight home.

Remember disease such as STD, STI , without the exception of HIV/AIDS are on the rise .

Don't let one night flexing ruin your life.

content of alcohol in the mix remains the same, but alcohol concentration per volume decreases because of the non alcoholic drink added. For instance, if you mix and drink a 33cl bottle of stout rated 5% alcohol per volume with a 33cl bottle of zero alcohol malt drink, you would have drank the same whole quantity of alcohol from the stout bottle, but in a different concentration of alcohol per volume of 2.5%. You can only down less alcohol from the mix if you reduce the quantity that you eventually drink. Mixing can however make the alcoholic beverage easier to drink and relish.

Same Alcohol have been consumed...but they will have different physiological effect, especially intoxication. The higher the concentration, the faster the likelihood of getting drunk. When alcohol is diluted, faster rate of metabolism may neutralise the effect in the system...
5% Alcohol in 35 cl, and 5% Alcohol in 70cl....Same concentration, different volume....so, rate of metabolism can delay or completely neutralize the intoxicating effect of the 5% in 70cl. Duration of consumption also matters...If the person takes his/her time in taking the alcohol...the full effect may not be felt

Yes and it's simple science expressed by the formula
C1V1 = C2V2

C= Concentration
V=Volume

So if you add a non-alcoholic drink to an Alcoholic drink there will be an increased new Volume (V2) while the new Concentration(C2) will decrease.

Proudly a science student cheesy

Sensible ...

Most people talking above don't drink alcohol and don't know how water reduce concentration...

The highness of 33cl bottle of henessey can't be compared with same 33cl bottle of henessey which already has fruit juice mixed in it....

The active ingredient of all alcoholic drinks is ethanol and the part per million (concentration) changes when you dilute with water.

Some alcoholic drinks are 45%, 12% depending on concentration.

By diluting it with water or non-alcoholic drinks, the concentration of alcoholic drinks is reduced and you tend to drink less and get filled up faster.

it’ll reduce it to some extent because the volume is already increase thereby reducing the concentration
