As someone that want to learn Staad Pro, I am confused as to which version to learn with as there are so many versions out there.

Please I would like to know the different versions and which kind of structures (whether steel or concrete) I can use them to design.

I know there is the V8i version, the RCDC version, the foundation design version, and the connect version, just to mention a few. I stand to be corrected though.

Please can you throw more light on these concern of mine??

staad pro is a structural engineering software that analyse structures ( plane, space or truss ) and it designs structures made with different materials (concrete, steel, aluminum, timber and whatever type of material that comes to your mind).

staad pro is majorly used for modelling, analysing and designing the super structure ( you can model the foundation, but iT would be difficult to assign the support due To spring stiffness etc)

staad RCDC is used for detailing ( i do not use the detailing that the computer gives me. i give a draughtsman to do it)

staad foundation: as the name implies, it is used for designing all types of foundation. i can confidently say that staad foundation is the best software when it comes to foundation design

I noticed the the bug also. The only mat foundation you can do in the staad foundation is the flat Slab mat

Yeah. It only analyses and provide the beam moments and shear force which you can use for manual design. I did the design in staad once but I'm still concerned on how to determine the slab shear design. The slab records very high shear forces at the column position. Do we ignore it for the slab design?

Use Orion 18, it has a module for designing raft slabs and beams.

It is supposed to consider the high shear when it’s designing the slab

Yes! It considers it. If include physic beams, it would still show you that the slab fails in punching which is what the beam is suppose to cater for
