obidark:I can't remember specifically which Asian country had an earth quake that affected their nuclear power plant. They're still battling to clean up the place. I've still got the BBC documentary on my system. They had to hire Toshiba to build two custom robots, including one that swims like a fish, for autonomous detection of radioactive substance. We're not ready for that shit! Ogoni is still a mess after 30 years or thereabout. |

Russians will build you a nuclear power station and go back to their country. Do stupid govt officials expect them to show up when there is a nuclear crisis? It seems to me its just another white elephant with no real plans to complete because the people involved know the risks or they might just take their share of the money after it is commissioned and disappear with their family members |

ERA/FoEN Deputy Executive Director, Akinbode Oluwafemi said: “Once again, we have another reason to ask the Nigeria government to halt the nuclear misadventure spearheaded by the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission (NAEC) without the consent of Nigerians.” Oluwafemi explained that it was very disturbing that at a time the global community is pursuing clean and safe energy options, including wind and solar technologies, Nigeria is doing back-flipping by choosing to embrace nuclear power which is neither clean nor safe nor cheap. |

Is Britain no more protecting Buhari's interest that he now goes to Russia? A dictator, Buhari, is ready to sacrifice much of Nigeria's population and land for his ethno/religious pursuits. Nuclear power plant in a country that still imports foreigners to build roads is a disaster waiting to happen. 1 Like |

According to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the project will be financed by Rosatom, under build, own, operate and transfer (BOT) basis and then transfer the cost to Nigeria to pay back. It is estimated at about $20 billion, each of the four reactors, while four of them amount to $80 billion which Nigeria will pay back, implying that the country will continue to service the debt (loan) for the next generation, if Nigeria goes on with the project. Why is borrowing and putting burden on the next generation now a priority. |

Solar plants would have been another alternative but it will be difficult to maintain due to its high maintenance cost, if they can construct the panels and the individuals buy their own inverter and batteries, that will be better. |

They should build one in the core Northern State and one in any Southern State. This Fulani government is wicked, they want to build 2 nuclear Power plant close to the South East. That's the only project thay won't allow in their land(Core North) After that they will channel the power to the North West. 1 Share
