Why I Pulled Out Of Wole Soyinka Centre Award – Osinbajo by Zeemam: 7:21pm On Dec 09, 2019
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has explained why he had to pull out of the Wole Soyinka’s Centre award ceremony slated 9 December, 2019.

In a statement issued by Laolu Akande, spokesperson to Prof Osinbajo and titled “For The Records”, the Vice President explained why he couldn’t grace the award were he was to receive an anti-corruption award.

“I am extremely grateful for the recognition and award of the “Integrity Specialty of the Wole Soyinka Centre for Investigative Journalism’s Anti-corruption Defender Award of 2019” to me.

“The award, I note, is for our Justice reform efforts in Lagos State. I had accepted the award with pride on behalf of the excellent Justice Sector team we had.

“However, two reasons explain my absence. First is that I am currently in Abu Dhabi for an international meeting under the auspices of the government of the UAE where I am the keynote speaker.

“Second, in view of the developments on Friday in the Sowore case, I think it would be insensitive and inappropriate to attend the ceremony.

“Please accept my heartfelt apologies and extend the same to the other members of the organizing team. God bless you.”

cool

I love how Osinbajo distanced himself from the recent foolishness of the cabals and the President who is being pushed off track again like sycophants did to him in the 80s till he lost everythig including his mother's life and his marriage

Last last, people with common sense and not moronic Dunce (Ipobians) would remember when Osinbajo became an Acting President, he did the right thing by releasing ungratefull Nnamdi Kanu, and other people with pending bail court orders like james abiri the journalist, he confirmed CJN Onoghen as stipulated by the law, and he sacked Lawal Daura the DSS boss when he violated the premesis of the National Assembly

And where is the source of this news? A story with no direct source and not even a press release!

And I guess someone rushed to send this out to counter the release of the organisers.

I just bought a bag of foreign Rice for N16,000 here in the north. Trucks of these comes in on daily bases.

The Northern border is either not close or there is a bias policing.

Border closure is simply to witch hunt the South.

It's very obvious somebody is doing damage control for our VP ACADEMICS.

The rescinded their decision to give him the award because of the show of shame displayed by the DSS, and Osubanjo's silence was too loud, as he never issues a statement to distance himself from that show of shame.

I can see some paid MISCREANTS hailing him, yet the write up is without a credible source.

That shows how low zombies IQ ARE

Rubbish.
The proper thing for any honourable man that does not support the policies of the government of the day,to do, is to resign.
He just worsened his case.
Impeaching him would be in order for trying to portray the government in bad light by this press release.
You either support the actions of a government you are part of,or you resign.

If starboy want to be taken any serious, let him resign from his position as VP first, & then perhaps he can talk to sensible Nigerians

Only a big fool would suggest a Vice President who won a joint ticket to forego his constituitional right because his Principal decided to act in manners deem as in apporpraite... resignation only shows admission of guilt or why else hasnt Pence resigned? why cant you chimpchomps think beyond Peter Obi's loss and think straight... did Atiku resign during the heat of Obasanjo's days or didnt Atiku with the help of Akeredolu SAN take Obasanjo to court to remain on his seat as VP? Or did Jonathan resign when turai yaradua made him useless when yaradua was terminally ill?
