lionlee216: Yeah, your valid naija passport is like diamond to a fellow nigerian who has overstayed, there's a slang for those who have overstayed in dubai, it is called "teco" hence you have to guard it jealously. If u go to Palm deira, u will see a lot of stranded naija guys and girls everywhere, some already into prostitution, some into drug selling. Back to the overstaying thing. What they do is remove your data page details that has that nylon foil and affix their own data page details, some yahoo boys I met then also who have overstayed but suddenly were paid substantial money by their Magas can approach you to sell to them to enable them travel back to naija. Buying a naija passport was then 400k in naija equivalent to Dirhams The way it works is, you can leave DXB (Dubai) without the immigration raising any eyebrow cos they don't scan passports with that their infrared scanner when u leave their airport, but when you arrive murtala airport, it is a must, these guys that are traveling on these false passports already know this, also our immigration guys at murtala airport also know about it and make a lot of money from it. I remember when I landed at Murtala airport in 2015 there was a guy in front of me on the queue at arrivals, his passport was scanned and was detected false, he was asked to step aside, he was making noise and bragging about why they should ask him to step aside lol the immigration woman said to him, "you know the right thing thing to do or I will call the police" meaning she knows he used a false passport. I left the queue after I was cleared. I didn't even bother to know how it ended, I'm sure he would settle his way out of it. 21 Likes 3 Shares |

A lot of emphasis is being made about withholding of passport as if that’s the primordial issue. While it is true that passport are personal property and should be in the custody of it owner at all times, I think it’s diversionary and even unnecessary to the intent of this post. That notwithstanding, I strongly advise that no one should travel to Dubai for greener pasture as there’s nothing for you there. UAE is as useless and tough like the Nigeria you intend to elope from. You work under harsh conditions for peanuts and for most they can’t even afford a decent room without sharing with people to reduce cost and for many they are average of 5 sharing a room. I have close friends in Dubai whose story are all same and are living in squalor. Please for your own good avoid UAE, India, Russia, Cambodia, SA and Indonesia by every means possible. Better retire to your village and farm than embark on a journey to any of the aforesaid countries. Don’t say you weren’t warned. 30 Likes 4 Shares |

three months ago, i returned to Ilorin from Lagos, one of my friends told me that he is going to work in Dubai, he left Nigeria in early October. we chat last week, he told me Dubai is not easy at the moment..... he said that cost of living in Dubai is too expensive, to get work self nah wahala. he paid certain amount to get the work he is managing now.. my guy spend more than 500k for passport, fly ticket and visa, he never make a phone call to Nigeria, he always chat using Facebook, call tariff there is high die. this thread will live longer than buhari.... 17 Likes 1 Share |

Na to leave Naija? Are people not succeeding here? You can't succeed where you were born. How sure are you that you will succeed in another man's land? Akiliogidi: 3 Likes |

mohlanforex:Yes call tariff in Dubai na die. Tell him to download SMILE app and he will be assigned a Nigeria number to make and receive calls. I was the one that helped my friend in Dubai registered the SMILE and i’m the one helping him to recharge like 1k or 2k monthly. But he must be connected to internet in other to make calls and receive calls. If not for my friend in Dubai, i would be preparing by now to get a visa. But what he has faced and still facing there alone is not giving me any impression of going there. Yes my friend is just a secondary school cert holder maybe that’s why he found it difficult there. 15 Likes 1 Share |

yommen: It’s possible though, some people are lucky in this country while some aren’t. Besides, the guy is just a secondary school cert holder no handwork or any skill than general cleaning and fumigation skills. May God help us |
