Faculty?? Grade Year of graduation??

How is the environment for IT professionals and the salary range. I have noticed an increase in the number of recruiters from Dubai on linkedin. A couple of them regularly reach out to me but i don't know what the IT landscape is like there. Do they pay better than a good Nigerian Tech salary. (Talking about over the 500k range)

A lot of emphasis is being made about withholding of passport as if that’s the primordial issue. While it is true that passport are personal property and should be in the custody of it owner at all times, I think it’s diversionary and even unnecessary to the intent of this post. That notwithstanding, I strongly advise that no one should travel to Dubai for greener pasture as there’s nothing for you there. UAE is as useless and tough like the Nigeria you intend to elope from. You work under harsh conditions for peanuts and for most they can’t even afford a decent room without sharing with people to reduce cost and for many they are average of 5 sharing a room.

I have close friends in Dubai whose story are all same and are living in squalor. Please for your own good avoid UAE, India, Russia, Cambodia, SA and Indonesia by every means possible. Better retire to your village and farm than embark on a journey to any of the aforesaid countries. Don’t say you weren’t warned.

Lol
People just dont understand that its not easy anywhere. Currently, the US is d best place to hustle. So many side/odd jobs especially with the immigration restrictions. But in that same US, there are many Nigerians who can't afford a ticket home. Heck, some can't even send 20k for a family emergency in Naija.

In my school we're 80% Britain, Canada, America, Australia. The rest 20% are Arab, Africans, others. These 80% are coming from countries that you all are running to.

I earn more than a teacher on my grade level in the US. These ones use some considerable sum of their salary for taxes. Whereas mine is tax free.

But in this same Dubai, you find people with same qualifications as mine doing domestic help work of 150k.

At the end, its about sensitization. Don't just carry bag and say m going to Dubai. What are you coming here to do? Is that d best you can do? Are there better options? Ask questions and arm yourself with info.

That same India you condemned i have friends there who have hit it big. Meanwhile Indians are running into Dubai in droves.

And what's wrong in a shared accommodation? After I got my first pay, i rented a self con of 35k dirhams per annum. After 3 months i did a brain reset and got a shared apartment for 9000 aed per annum. Which means i now save extra 2.6million naira yearly.

That it didn't work for Yuh friends doesn't mean it wont work for others.

So you just take a chill pill and breath

The working days in the UAE are Sunday to Thursday. I'm sure this makes sense to y'all. This is a strict Muslim state where the government is influenced by religion. Friday and Saturday are weekends and church is Friday.

The UAE recognises just about two Christian groups: catholic and orthodox. They have assigned particular areas to churches. I have a feeling the government even built the cathedrals but I'm not sure. Of course you get other Nigerian churches like Christ embassy and winners but these ones dont have their own buildings but meet in rented halls and quietly/codedly so- no banners, no posters, no jingles, all quiet.
So on this day, sometime last year, I'd gone for service like every other Friday, and outside my own hall, I met this Nigerian guy who'd come to worship in the nearby catholic church and we got talking.

Well long story short, dude was working in a carwash and earning 2k dirhams, approximately 200k Naira. When his contract ended, his company refused to renew contract/visa. Since then he's not been able to land another job and has been on a 5months overstay. To get by, he cleans rented apartments for peanuts, for people who do not remember to ask for emirates ID. His biggest regret was not saving enough while working and wished he sent less money home. Dude wasn't looking good at all, he looked all parched and thirsty like someone who was in a desert other the 'sesky' Dubai. Right there, i thanked God for helping me find stability in this place and wished him well.

Fast forward to sometime ds year, i ran into same nigga again. This time levels don change o. Dude was looking all fresh and sleek as he alighted from a ford explorer. The passenger beside him was a white lady. I must have stared at him with mouth agape cos he just smiled, signalled that i give him a minute and then went with the lady into the church. He came out a couple of minutes later and gave me gist.

He and white lady were now living together, he's now on a resident visa, he's been trying to take her to naija to meet his family but he no no se naija visa no be beans, they've decided to get married here and meet his family later. He now knows he's serving a living God. American visa toh sure cheesy. Lol I later learnt from someone that that day he spoke to me was the first time he was leaving the lady's side since they met. All the while he's been her bodyguard- taking great care to protect his interest b4 all these gold digging naija brethrens would snatch his God-given treasure. Where were they when he was all broke, jobless and homeless??

Lol...I'm sure by now d nigga is married and on a journey to claiming the blue passport.

Fabu.... kwantinu sha I Dey enjoy ur gist

You can live comfortably in the UAE with your family, the problem with us is we dont do research and we are always in a hurry to do everything in Nigeria. A 2 years freelance visa is 1.2 million if you get a company in the UAE to do it for you. But agents in naija will collect 1.4. Dont give any agent money for the freelance visa though, most will collect the money and wont deliver, they only know how to do 2 weeks visa, which cost about 40k and 3 months. Go online and contact companies. With the freelance visa you can get a job for 2500 3000 dirhams, thats 250,000 and 300,000 naira. You can get accommodation in Ajman or sharja for 1000 or 1500 dirham a month 500 will go for expenses and still have little to save up to renew your resident after 2 years. You don't have to live in Dubai or Abu Dhabi they're too expensive. When you're doing the resident visa, tell the company to use a higher salary to apply for the visa, for instance they can claim you earn 8000 to 10,000 dirham's, this will enable you to also apply for your wife and kid in a couple of months with just a token. With a freelance visa, no company will hold your passport if you're employed. And you can do side business quit anytime you want and move to another company if you get a better offer. I went to the UAE about 7 years ago to work, although I am back to Nigeria.

So I've been in the UAE for all of two years and boy has it been venturesome and hygge?

'UAE' is a proper noun but I can't help myself, cry its always 'the UAE' to me.

I'll be taking y'all through steps on how i got here, how I got a means of livelihood, the stress and joy that comes with the job and all that.

Stay tuned.
lol who no come no go know... if you tell them not to come to Dubai for hustle Dem go say you na bad Belle... you no wan mek Dem come pack money with basket! Dubai is fvcked up even worse lately, especially for Nigerians...
for Nigerians to get job here now is war... the racism is open them go tell you to your face, we don't want Nigerians... Dem no dey sugar coat am.
if you finally get job, maybe dey pay you 1,500 AED monthly.. that's 150k, na for here you go still spend am finish. everything na expenses, you buy bottle water Dem add tax, you buy grandnut dey add tax... house rent... 50kto 80k per month, not for flat bro, no not for a self-contain... nope not for a single room! it's for a bed space...one single room with up to four people at the least sharing, sleeping in their bunk beds. and about transportation? lol...
for my street minded brothers, mek I clear una as e dey be.. if you are coming here for street? better abort that thought like unwanted pregnancy... find another route. their anti crime technology is waaaaaay advanced than US,China and Russia combined.
before you enter the country your face gets installed in their data base via advanced face scan at the airport, jus fvck up... those smart AI cameras mounted in every single angle of the cities would detect your face automatically and single you out... these folks ain't joking around...
Alcohol possession/the smallest amount of Opiate drugs, I no say Coke oo... just opiate! even for usage.. you going in. if you con be Nigerian? God don punish you... na straight to Their neighbor (Saudi Arabia) for beheading... cos they don't execute! fucking hypocrites.
if you na bomber, you know what I mean... there anti Cyber crime is tight and advanced too, no be to dey raid houses like EFCC ooo... na signal tracking... highly paid reverse hackers from Russia and South korea peeping and monitoring people's private activities online in a collaboration with their Network providers!!! they are the government na!
last but not the least... don't near their indigenous ladies, nigga just don't... you gonna get killed immediately.... it's a TABOO and a capital offence in UAE for a foreigner to make any sort of contact with their ladies... cos there are very few of them,,, so rare if u see up to 3 in a day na hatrick you score! Dem no dey show face any how,,, Dem see demselves as some kind of goddess. but I no go lie they are so fvckin beautiful damnnnnn! Na there Arab beauty start and finish!!!

#fun fact... foreigners made up to 95…% of UAE population. India the largest, followed by Philippines... Pakistans.siri Lanka. then Africa. with Ethiopia,Nigeria leading in Africa.

did I mention Dubai no Easy? ok I did, just making sure... did I mention no near their local women?? ok I did .. goodnight...

one last advice, even if you insist on coming (Cos you no go believe until you see for yourself, e do everybody!) atleast try do residence visa... it's expensive but it worth it, it's easier to get job here as a Nigerian that way. peace!

My NBM brothers in UAE reach me via inbox me if you just dey enter... mek we reason 1 or 4! e get why o

No future at all when they are caught, they will be jailed if they can't pay their fine, which is 10,000 naira a day for the number of days they've overstayed. Their only bet is through an amnesty program where the government will deport people for free all fines wiped. That will happen next year. Even if you stay in the UAE for a thousand years legally you still won't even get citizenship.
No their nationals don't date foreigners, you can't even see them. Hell they don't even use the same car plate number with foreigners. Their plate numbers comes with 3digits others 4 and 5. Thats the level of distance between the Emirates and other nationals. You can save well depends on how much you earn.

Please elaborate how will dating an emirati get you in trouble?
NONNYG:
No future for those that overstayed, except there's an amnesty. Last year there was amnesty , they were given option to leave the country without fine or get a new 6 months visa to look for job

No pathway to citizenship, even if you were born here still no show

Dating an Emirati might lead you into trouble, so make I no answer that question shaa

Your average savings depends on your salary & lifestyle. For me , I can decide to save all my salary in a month because I was given free accommodation, free transportation, medical, food, internet and postpaid phone .

Meanwhile VICTOR AD say phone dey ring na family dey call o, if e no be billing na something dey sub o, anyhow wey e be money is involvegrin

The UAE is designed for the benefit of Arabs.

Africans live a better life on their continent than those living in the UAE.

There laws are draconian.

The UAE have some of the weirdest laws in the world today.

For instance anyone can correct me but i read that at one point, wearing a Barcelona shirt in Dubai or Abu Dhabi could land anyone 15 years in prison.

There was once a law in the UAE that prohibits anyone from wearing a Qatar football shirt in the UAE.

Overall, its best to stay clear away from UAE and all the other parts of the Arabian penisular.

Their records on human rights is atrocious.

Like I said, I live in Canada as a parmanent resident. Now, this thread has added to the number of countries I'll never step into to spend my hard earned money with kind of inhumanity to humans.

Terrible to say the least.

And AutoJosh was posting their road on another thread. Not knowing that it is other people's hard labour without commensarable compensation they used in building all the infrastructure.

I've always known an average Arab person to be mean, especially the middle Easter, Saudis in particular.

If not that Mecca is made compulsory for those that can afford it, I would've counted it among the countries I would like to avoid. That's the world head quarter of terrorism, aided by the US of A.

Wow.....you are truly an English graduate ma. I like your style of writing.

Thanks once again for creating this thread. Learnt some new things.

I have got some questions please:

A. What teaching positions or roles are available to a holder of PGDE certificate?

B. Since the recruitment agency that linked you in Dublin is not accessible from Nigeria, how would one go about reaching out to employers in dubai for these teaching jobs

C. Is cache program available in Dubai?

D. Does IT or programming skills required there??

E. What's your work duration on a typical day??

F. Is there room for promotion as a teacher

G. Where you mentioned you got a shared apartment for 9,000 Dirham per annum......could you please describe the type of apartment?

H. Kindly itemize key benefits of holding cache certification

I. Are there age restrictions in these teaching roles??

Finally, please continue to update this thread.....a lot of Nigerian youths are yearning for something like this especially the under employed and unemployed ones

God bless you real good ma.
