Femi Adeshina, you are such a disgrace. This is the weak rebuttal you can come up with. Apart from the name reference, what of the other points raised in Punch's article, most especially the issue of human right abuse? Why did you not address that?
Buhari attained the rank of Major General by quota system. He did not earn it. I'l rather refer to him as a sergeant, yes Sergeant Muhammadu Buhari.

In as much as vigilance and ventilation are needed to keep our democracy alive, the simple truth is that the real situation is very far from the picture Punch Newspaper is painting. There is freedom of speech in Nigeria and on daily basis tens of anti-government and extremely anti-Buhari articles get published in both print and online media. If there wasn't, staunch critics like Femi Fani Kayode with all his misleading, mischievous and insulting posts would have been in jail.

Unfortunately, DSS personnel got carried away in their bid to tame the defiant Yele Sowore that they tactlessly played into his original intention of making himself a hero of democracy by that act of gangsterism in court premises. Now, the enemies of government including displaced and embittered PDP moneybags have subtly moved into action to discredit Buhari's administration in both local and international media. To counter this dangerous development, I think government should reach out to critical civil society stakeholders to restate its commitments to democratic principles.

However, one thing is certain, because Buhari's presidency is very NECESSARY for the INEVITABLE disruptions of the existing political and economic orders that will make way for new orders, it will survive this onslaught like the ones that came in the past.

There is NOTHING wrong or inaccurate about the situation which The Punch has described. And, of course you know this.
Of course Femi Adesina knows this hence he hasn’t addressed the issues they raised.

All these obfuscation through English wouldn’t work, my dear BMC. Nigerians know better.

But carry on. After it is Buhari Media Centre. Sorry, Major General Buhari Media Centre.

So, why are you confident to say all this in a public forum? Because, you know deep in your heart that you are free to say anything you like including calling Buhari any name you wish, because there is freedom of speech. If you think threatening a duly elected government with extrajudicial, extra-constitutional removal, mouthing hate speeches and spreading fake, injurious news on social media is "free speech", you are dead wrong. These are criminal offenses punishable by statues in our laws.

Clearly Femi Adesina is trying to manage the situation by painting a good picture out of it but irrespective of his attempt, the Punch group are making a solid statement.
Should other media houses follow their track we'll be heading to a "check and balance government".
Thumbs up to the Punch news outlet.
The truth is, Femi is speaking too early. We have freedom of speech, but no freedom AFTER speech. I can bet my N10,000 that the Punch newspapers will be raided soon by the DSS.

Femi is just trying to do a damage control. The resultant effect of what Punch plans to do could spell doom if the whole media houses follow suit.

Don't under-estimate the power of the press.

It is truly just a matter of semantics. Buhari is now the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces which is also a Military position despite now being a civilian so addressing him as Major general means nothing.

Plus a regime is another word for a government or an authoritarian government which is also not out of place because no government anywhere in the world is weak. They all weld authority and some more authoritarian than others but still they are governments.

Punch only ended up doing absolutely nothing

Well said Femi Adeshina

This right here is why I despise sycophants...

No matter how learned and well read you are or might claim to be, sycophancy, however noble, will end up reducing you to the level of idiocy and tomfoolery.

Just look at what a supposed learned youth and graduate put up there... It's as sad as it is amusing. I choose to laugh!!! grin

Nice counter punch from 'Femi.

Punch Newspapers' position sounded like the pained outburst of a petulant child who had failed in his quest to second guess his mother and thus resorted to childish name calling and barrage of abusive expletives.

It is shameful and far below Punch newspapers status as a newspaper of choice.

This is something FFK might say and supply comic relief on NL and Twitter for the whole day.

I just hope Ndigbo and indeed the Old Eastern Nigeria, stay out of the fight between two lovers.

They will sort themselves out. Punch is the hand of Esau but the voice of Jacob. Tinubu is simply speaking through The Punch. The Ruling Regime are aware.

Others should stay clear while they sort themselves out.

WHO LET THE DOG OUT... WHO, WHO, WHO? Before someone will come and quote me. Who let the dogs out is a title of a song by a group known as BAHAMEN. I'm just singing my song jejely.

PUNCH, you tried to be brave in a country where every living thing has become fearful & timid from the fear of bullet or black & white eagle so from now on WATCH YOUR BACK!

Also don't be surprise if you get invitation from EFCC to come and explain some missing money in the past o grin Yes, in the past (it doesn't matter), it may even be since 1960. Sleep at your own peril.

Ps: don't forget to scream when they freeze your accounts too o! (that has become the norm now & very easy to do.)

Until our country become sane again, i leave in peace.
