LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOGGGGG POST ALERT!!!! GRAB YOUR POP CORN AND SODA grin

So my mum had been singing this express entry song in my ear for a few years now, every other day she would announce to my sister and I how this neighbor has left, that family have moved, but it was just entering one ear and passing through the other. Even when I was preparing for my Masters she suggested Canada I tried British Columbia but never followed up cos to be honest I wasn't interested. My reason back then was abeg I don't want to do any Masters more than 1 year, see UK do 1 year sharply and come back (as a patriotic citizen that I am na)

Well, so I finished my masters and came back home no problem, got a job in 2014 all was well, then some time last year I noticed the absence of one makeup artist I knew, I went and checked her ig page and started seeing some Canadian locations HIAN!!!! then next thing I saw her departure video on youtube EWO!!! I contacted her and she told me everything to do but still I didn't follow up. At the time I was on Holiday the most I did was to open WES profile which I couldn't submit cause I wasn't sure how my name was written in my MSc Certificate this was August 2018. I came back and life continued, from time to time I would tell my bestie "come o lets goan write this test, we would laugh and never lift a finger".

Then Nigeria started happening to us, everyday on the news it was one bad news or the other and more often than not nothing was done about all these accidents and insecurity drowning the country. Occasionally, another friend of mine will bring it up and be like "and we have everything o" me too I will say "abi" but no move. Then my mum came again that my brother and his wife had started their process o (that one to flew past my ear) she kept updating me on their progress but I didn't move. Then sometime in November 2018, I told my bestie come lets just write this thing abeg, she agreed and we registered to write December 15, 2018. I focused more on everyother part except writing (a decision I would later regret). I started "listening" to writing (imagine) a few days to the exam date, I never put pen to paper undecided.

Fast Forward to result date I was chilling in Asaba when I saw the result online and it hit me. To be honest I had a cocktail of emotions but I blamed myself for not practicing that writing. Another reality check was my birthday was fast approaching (January) and of course we know the drill. I think at this point my brother and his family had been called for biometrics. My Sister in law (SIL) tried to encourage me to write again I said I'm not doing again biko rubbish. even when I came back after Christmas it took me almost a month to go pick up the hard copy from BC. Infact because I didn't want to write again, I started considering Saski baby for PNP. I also let my makeup artist friend know and her response was "babe you should have started with your ECA first" (did I know what she was talking about) cos the way I was following this matter was very nonchalant.

ECA

Well I did small research and understood the rationale behind doing ECA before writing IELTS. Sometime towards the end of January I revisited that WES profile, I was back at home so I had every detail at my reach, filled all the forms and paid cost about $305 (can't readily get the exact amount) at the time I didn't know I could just use a Canadian address plus I thought I would need to scan the hard copy, ultimately because I did not want long story of how it got lost in transit.

MSc

For my Masters it was a walk in the park I did everything over the phone including payment of 10 pounds I didn't even need to give them the WES address (Chai oyibo amaka)

BSc

Shey if I started since my matter would have ended in MSc but now I had to do BSc and WAEC. See eh let me just say now that ignorance is expensive. Long story short I spent 60k (with abeg o) for transcript that would have cost me 25k to process online. Well moving on WES sent for second verification and my delay started, this lecturer that wanted to use me to complete his house in the village before Christmas started another story, VC this, Dean that, faculty that long and short is bring more money. Anyway I met an angel when I attended and AGM of an Operator, apparently the new Independent Director was a professor in my school so I went to introduce myself after the meeting, we exchanged numbers and got chatting somehow it led to me complaining about the services of the school. Prof. took it up and found out the my school had received the letter from WES and dumped it somewhere reason being that WES does not provide money to post back to them ARE YOU MAD!!!! (in my loudest Lasisi's voice) Why can't you notify the alumni involved to bear the cost of posting since they initiated the process in the first place (it's a no brainer right?). Well Prof. carried my matter on his head and paid the fee for posting, I kept thanking him till I even called my mum to thank him cos she was already planning to travel to my school. I later got to find out that my school website actually works and I could have done it online quietly.

NECO

In between my Uni roller coaster I used NECO because like many stories I have seen here there was a mistake with my DOB so local girl quietly used NECO and I had not regrets. I sent them a mail using the email address I got on their website and to my surprise they responded with full details on how to go about it which I followed to the letter. I posted using DHL to Minna the inside was the envelope to WES (everything cos about 30k). Then I got a call saying I short paid that I needed to add additional 4k. I had the option to go online and pay again and post evidence or transfer the money to the caller. Please I weighed my options I took the risk of transferring to the caller (4k will not wreck me) luckily, he made the payment and sent me the receipt of payment. It was processed in less than a week and posted to WES (I was able to track the whole movement). WES received in good time and processed while I continued my Uni back and forth.

I also have a brother in law schooling in Canada so I scanned my Certificates to him to post to WES which was received and acknowledged in no time.
Well my whole ECA wahala took roughly 5 months and looking bag it was God's doing because of how everything aligned in June.

IELTS AGAIN

Some time in April my bestie sent me a screenshot this girl had smashed IELTS (MOGBE!!!!!) this one wants to leave me in this country HAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. (we had been fighting so there was a major break in communication, she had written the test during our malice period). Home girl had 9 in listening infact her overall was 8.5 she smashed shaaaa her CRS was 471 as per Doctor. Now that was all the ginger I needed.
Oh I forgot to mention during my ECA waiting period my brother and family had received PPR and even relocated. (all this was working in my favour)
I quickly registered for IELTS (June 1) with MOD this time and started practicing, people of God I ate, drank and slept IELTS went through the whole handout provided by MOD even joined their webinar ( I would usually lock myself in the office toilet for that 2 hrs it took). I didn't play with writing this time Jay (E2 Language) was my go to guy, that was when I understood the technicalities in writing. I practiced several letters and essays till I knew by just a glance when I hit the minimum word count. Anyhoo, speaking day came I left office 30 mins to my allotted time it was just 5 mins from my office, the examiner (a lady) kept asking "WHY" to every response I gave and she came off a bit mean but anyway I made sure I answered every question and kept talking and "embellished" wink

June 1 came people of God I typed this address on google map, aunty answered me but as an old abuja girl I said she did not know what she was saying that I always see the place on my way to gwarinpa. That's how I drove to my own venue (because that was not MOD venue) I realized I was driving to the billboard of the venue (Aduvie School) on gwarinpa express way not the actual venue, this was I think 10 mins to time. Oya na see me, I went back to google map aunty showed me same place she showed me before it was 20 mins away hmmmmmm let's just say Fast & Furious was child's play that day. I made it, did all the protocol and started listening and reading I was confident then writing came I started, my darlings when they announced 3 mins more I went back to the essay question and realized I didn't answer the question my heart sank I kept hearing Jay's voice when he kept saying go back to the question from time to time at this point, I had no choice but to submit. As soon as I left the hall I called my sister and told her she just said don't worry just wait till you see the result. I also told someone else on this journey and she goes "but were you making sense in the nonsense?" I'm like yes, she said then don't worry.

I was in Lagos on inspection in June when bestie sent me her ITA grin (I think it was June 12 draw), now my IELTS result was also due in June, ECA was also June 24, I was working on the mainland I realized it was close to Alagbon so I just sneaked out one day called Inspector Funke (I think) and she did my PCC at 3500 (instead of waiting to get back to abuja and paying 10k yimu undecided). Prior to this, I had already processed my UK PCC and God so kind it was delivered to my house in my absence after a mild drama with my gateman that sent the postman away, as my mum did not kill him that day he will live very long cheesy.

IELTS came out and I could barely contain my joy LRWS - 8/9/8/8.5 overall 8.5

Coincidentally my CRS was also 471 lol

ITA

I was prepared for ITA, June 25 I got ITA and started immediately, I already had most of the documents required and was able to figure out my NOC after so much confusion and indecision (NOC 1114), I created a folder, labelled and grouped them accordingly basically created sub folders inside the main folder to avoid stories of mixing up documents.

Documents as scanned and uploaded:

Education - NECO, BSc, MSc, WES and IELTS
Digital Photo scanned and uploaded
Medicals - IOM (booked appointment I had to pay additional 5,100 due to price increase, the whole process took about 5 hours.....go early)
PCC - Nigeria and UK (there was another provision for foreign PCC so I still uploaded the UK one separately)
POF - Letter from my bank and 6 months bank statement (I hear 4 is good but oh well) I used ilovepdf to shrink the size (that website is GOLD)
Travel Document - I scanned all the pages of my passport and uploaded (I did not scan the previous passport which had part of my travel history, this bothered me during my wait)
Proof of Employment - One of my bosses signed for me I didn't want HR wahala knowing they would never do it in the format I wanted, so I went to him and explained the situation, he was willing to sign for me, I followed the format my SIL used for hers and did mine, he made some corrections and signed and attached his complimentary card. So I scanned the letter, his card and mine, my ID card, 6 months payslip, promotion letters and employment letter all as one document.
Proof of sibling relationship - my brother's PR card, bank statement showing address, birth certificate, sworn affidavit for one and same person as oga decided to shorten his name, sworn affidavit by my mum declaring she's my mum (apparently she did this years ago) she couldn't find my birth certificate but she had my baptismal card which had both parent's names in it, childhood pictures highlighting my brother and I and his wedding pictures (don't laugh o) that's all I scanned as one document for that slot. I was worried.

Yea that was all and I submitted and paid at once using my GTB mastercard.

AOR was same day July 8.

MEP/BIL

I was on holiday when I got the GU (that was when I knew what it meant lol) then the mail August 1st, the next day I found my way to VFS office in London and did my biometrics and the wait began.

Like I stated in my previous post I zoned out, I joined whatsapp groups including one Indian one (those people hmmmmmm) anyway the phone got lost and I never bothered again. I continued my life as usual work, business etc I simply refused to tie myself to it. I just checked my profile every other week. I kept hearing people say "check your spam" I never really understood cos I thought any mail will definitely reflect on my dashboard (now I know better lol). Anytime I called my mum her first question was "o landigo" (has it landed) cheesy
When I came back after my holiday my passport had less than 6 mths to expire so I quickly renewed (10yrs 64pgs) and notified IRCC which was acknowledged. Then I continued my wait. From time to time I worried about proof of sibling relationship, my other passport I didn't upload, I was also worried about my previous visa refusal which I couldn't find the UCI but I notified them that I had deleted the profile and gave them every information I could with regards that application. Please note that I made this explanation while I was was filling the form under the visa refusal part so I didn't have to do a separate LOE. However, I had resolved that I wasn't explaining anything I wasn't asked cos from reading the thread I observed they asked if they weren't clear on anything in your application.

Fast forward to December I started seeing testimonies from my AOR/BIL group then I stated getting restless but I maintained my calm and just said short prayers at random whenever I remembered my application. Then I made that declaration (check previous post) on December 5th. On the night of the 9th I was on the thread when I saw how to call IRCC I started downloading the app then I got hooked on the "textnow apk" and slept off trying to download it, little did I know it was God telling me not to bother, my alarm woke me up by 5:30, i went to pee and usually I hardly sleep back I snoozed till like 6 then I picked up my phone and in my usual fashion I switched on my internet for the overnight messages to flowing in then I checked my mails as usual that was when I saw "Ready for Visa" shocked shocked shocked shocked sleep left my eyes, I felt hot, I felt cold, I stood up, I sat down infact eh, I can't remember all the nonsense I did before I called my mother, that one collected the remaining part of the crase and screaming from me I called my sister same reaction lol. When I settled down I just went straight and deleted that call app with my chest lol.

SUBMISSION

I submitted same day all you need for submission:

1) 2 passport photographs (you'll be given the specification) it must be stamped and signed behind by the photo studio then you need to write your full name and DOB behind
2) 2 coloured copies of your bio data page
3) 2 coloured copies of the "ready for visa" mail

for 2 and 3 above, they only took one copy but just go with 2)

4) your biometrics slips
5) 8200 cash ( its actually 7,440 but with sms inclusive it becomes 8,200)

no appointment needed (at least for abuja)

THAT IS ALL!!!!

I never knew I could type this epistle but joy will make you type it grin I wonder who would have the time to read this lol sorry o, excuse all typos and spelling errors.

PS: I believe besties PPR is knocking cos she has been asked to provide one last document so I strongly believe once she does the eagle will land.

Something that started as a joke has turned to reality.

I hope you enjoy my story as much as I enjoyed reading that of others and I look forward to reading more success stories no matter how small, ECA, IELTS, PCC, POF, PPR its always so refreshing to read these stories knowing its all leading to one goal. My prayer is that none of us will be left behind on this journey it will end in praise and not only that we will excel in this new chapter of our lives. Amen. grin

I have a question please.

Is BCS evaluated as a higher degree or just another degree?

I'm wondering if i should go and spend money writing this BCS or just do a one year Masters programme. I only have a Bachelors degree and i'm 36.

I simulated my CRS scores and i got 436.

ECA completed... the journey is still far though but it's a progress. Now let me face IELTS. I might need to learn French also as I'm 32 already and already have masters. Even if I aced the test, I'll hover around 458 or so. Spouse yet to start her own though.
Kindly advise if we should just evaluate her LLB with Wes and leave BL from law school because I heard it could take 3 months and it's just a point difference as she's not the PA.

She's 31 already. Highest we can get for her is 2 or more certificate, Which has lower score than master's degree.
