safarigirl: Your bitter deep seated rancour has completely befuddled your mind. Many moons ago you threw vitriolic rhetoric and unrestricted abuse towards Tega. Your words were he would never make it in the EPL. He is not good enough bla bla and all sorts irrelevant Balderdash. He does not even know you but you got so heated with your opinion and allowed your whole being to be carried away on an emotive roller coaster of hatred and dislike. It's incomprehensible why. I can not understand it. Now he is essentially one of the best strikers in the world and it's too much for you to swallow. Tega was the second highest goal scorer in Swansea with 5 goals in the EPL Jordan Ayew was the first with 7. The team was in free fall they had about 8 managers over 4/5 seasons confused and no direction in the club. He promptly went to Villa and tore up the Championship again. I can say the rest is now history he is now numero one at Chelsea. And the world is his oyster. My view is very simple you don't create IN- FORM from two games in the EPL or any other league for that matter. Particularly when he has been essentially woeful for the past two seasons in the EPL. If after 10 games if he has kept up his current trajectory you can say he has got some form or is striker IN- FORM. I hope he does well because he seems to have improved on many fronts. The multiple handicaps are being addressed and Leicester have been exceptionally patient not many clubs will give any player that amount of time. Nigerian Players with consistent form for over 10 years, OBAGOAL,YAK, YEKINI, IKPEBA, FINIDI, . That's what we mean by consistent form. But you don't understand that. 2 Likes |

Eizzy003: Stats are indicative but still they can be absolute. The unit not measurement is simply number of goals scored. NUTTIN else. There is no law that says because a player plays more games he will score more. It's probable but not neccesarily logical a proven theory. You take your chances and opportunities score and claim the glory. Bringing minutes into the equation is to confuse matters. If you score your club will give you more games and minutes. If you don't then the reverse is the case it's simplistic. |

Loic Remy gives Chelsea a scare after Lille's young stars are benched It was a surprise to see both Jonathan Ikone and Victor Osimhen on the bench - but both could enjoy bright futures in England By Will Magee Tuesday, 10th December 2019, 10:42 am Zeki Celik of Lille and team mates celebrate a goal scored by Loic Remy (Getty Images) STAMFORD BRIDGE -- Frank Lampard will have felt quietly relieved when Lille’s line-up was announced an hour before kick off. There were enough reasons for Chelsea to feel confident already, not least that Les Dogues had taken only one point from their first five Champions League games. Since the current group stage format was introduced, the only French side to have totalled fewer points in a single campaign were Marseille when, in 2013, they lost all six matches and ended with zero. Lille’s single point this season came against Valencia in October and, even then, with their opponents down to 10 men, it required a last-gasp equaliser. That goal – an absolute rocket, by the by – was scored by Jonathan Ikone who, at 21, is one of several exciting youngsters at Lille. While he has impressed in the midfield this term he has been somewhat eclipsed by , a forward eight months his junior. Having scored twice in the Champions League this season, Osimhen could rightfully claim to have netted two thirds of Lille’s European goals for the campaign come kick-off. One of those goals came against Chelsea at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy, a glancing header to level the scores which was answered by a late winner from Willian. It was a surprise, then, to see both Ikone and Osimhen on the bench at Stamford Bridge. Before the game, Lille manager Christophe Galtier had talked about playing for pride but, on the face of it, this was not his strongest team. Osimhen scored the only goal of Lille’s win against Brest last week, while Ikone scored the winner against Lyon a few days beforehand. Both had started against Brest but Ikone made way for Yusuf Yazici and Osimhen was swapped out for Loic Remy, who spent two middling seasons with Chelsea and who, after an otherwise quiet game, announced his return with a thunderous second-half consolation. Chelsea's English striker Tammy Abraham shoots to score the opening goal against Lille (AFP via Getty Images) Osimhen has been tentatively linked with a move to Tottenham in January, which makes a sort of sense. Spurs have a Lille connection in the form of Nuno Santos and Joao Sacramento, the two coaches who opted to join Jose Mourinho’s backroom staff at Spurs and hugely irritated Galtier in the process. Asked about Osimhen’s future recently, Galtier was quoted in the French press as saying: “I think that he will stay [until the end of the season], but in football nothing is certain.” Perhaps he was worried that Mourinho would be watching from the shadows, greedily coveting Osimhen like football’s answer to the Eye of Sauron, though there is probably a simpler explanation for the young forward’s omission. Already guaranteed to finish rock bottom of the group, Galtier had other priorities going into this game. Though he spoke of his respect for the competition and the need for his players to be “beyond reproach in terms of their commitment” in the build-up, he would have been naive to chase a lost cause given Lille’s situation domestically. Third in Ligue 1, occupying the last Champions League qualification spot, Les Dogues are six points behind Marseille in second but only one ahead of Rennes in fourth. Bordeaux and Nantes are two points behind them in fifth and sixth respectively, while Lyon and St-Etienne are also within touching distance. It’s tight, to say the least. With all that in mind, it felt as if Galtier had come to terms with the end of Lille’s European adventure this season and was, in a stroke of pragmatism, looking to guarantee the next one. Despite Lille offering little for much of the match – Remy’s goal was their first shot on target – they did at least make it a nervy finish for Chelsea. Ultimately, though, this Champions League campaign has represented a steep learning curve for Galtier’s side, who have been short on goals – Osimhen aside – and far too vulnerable defensively. We will have to wait to see Osimhen in action against Premier League opposition, though not for long if the transfer gossips have their way. https://inews.co.uk/sport/football/champions-league/loic-remy-lille-chelsea-champions-league-jonathan-ikone-victor-osimhen-transfer-premier-league-spurs-1337925 |

Like i once told you, you can choose your own narrative depending on what side of the fence you want to be. "In-form" can be looked at from different angles. But after a player has repeated a feat, one can rightly conclude, that player is in-form especially if the player has once shown that ability. However, to conclude that the same player is no longer in form, I think that player has to show a loss of form (be unconvincing) over a period of time. So a player can still be said to be in-form even though the player may not be as good as others in terms of consistency etc. komekn: |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Joebie: 1:06am On Dec 12, 2019 |
I think you are right to some extent. But failing to consider the minutes the player has played is failing to look at all the factors... Even football analysts always brings that to bear when they are evaluating a players performances. They seldom leave that detail out of the discussion. komekn: |

Dude repeated a feat.. That alone shows the first was not a fluke. Any honest person who watched Nacho over those two games will know he is finally back and improved. Let's put sentiments aside. Sportilitica: 6 Likes |

Joebie: So what happens of he doesn't score for the next 5 matches what will you say. I disagree, you can't use two games too say a player is now IN-FORM. We can say he has improved but l would not say he is IN-FORM. You use the term finally back. Does that mean he has been asleep for over two years. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by komekn(m): 1:25am On Dec 12, 2019 |
Joebie: I don’t know any football analyst that will use the minutes you played determine your quality. You may not believe me but l know a lot who are backroom staff in EPL clubs. They bring forth the analysis but in actual fact don't make the decision. Managers, coaches review the stats and data and make a deduction from there. The assumption is that if your limited minutes count the you will get more. If you don't it's because you didnt use your limited minutes to impact the game. |

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by komekn(m): 1:33am On Dec 12, 2019 |
Joebie: Maybe my narrative is probably reflection of my association in football. Managers, recruiters want to get a player who can impact the game. Deduction will be made on your attributes, your potential, unique selling points, age, value, etc. Then the next question can that player fit in with club style, philosophy and strategy. You may be great for one club but useless for another. But your past and present make it easier to make projections and decide. That's why when a player has been consistent over two or three seasons value rises higher. Osimhen is getting rave reviews because he has been consistent not because of a few games. But consistent in Belgium and now France. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by komekn(m): 1:34am On Dec 12, 2019 |
Joebie: Yes among other variables but not the core consideration. If you are not getting a lot minutes it means there are question marks it is not by any means an advantage. |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Joebie: 1:37am On Dec 12, 2019 |
I already answered that question in my other post. I think in-form is more of in the present. After Iheanacho's FA Cup games, I was not convinced. but after he displayed similar performances in the EPL again and again, then I had no reason to doubt that he is not only back to his early Man City days but has improved in other areas of his game. komekn: 5 Likes 1 Share |

Very sad story. Saw it on Shina's TL when he droped it. Indiscipline and a false sense of "I have arrived" have killed a lot of bright young football careers. Success.... True success comes when one is willing to cut out women, booze and fake big life mentality and focus on what brought him into a career like football. tbaba1234: 5 Likes |
