I have received various messages on WhatsApp since morning and I decided to come here and give a few explanations here.
First of all I was trained by this same Nafs in 2010 and I've been on the job since then.
Nafs is affiliated to Stenograph LLC, USA. (stenograph.com is their site)
The training is basically getting you to be able to record verbatim proceedings during Court session using Stenograph machines and system.
You will be trained to write at the speed of 180 words per minute using machine shorthand.
The training will last for at least 18 months and you may be paid a stipend during the training. During our time, we were paid 25k per month and mind you ours was for a Federal agency.
At the end of the day, you will be placed on grade level 8 (degree holders) and level 7 (HND holders) of the civil service salary scheme.
On the bond, we signed the bond for 2 years though some people still left few months after the training.
The bond is about protecting the money Edo State government is paying Nafs to train you.
You are acquiring a skill that you can use somewhere else free of charge and they will want to tie you down to justify their investment on you.
The training comes in stages and you will write a test at the end of each stage.
If you fail the test for a particular stage 3 times, you will be asked to go. But when you get to the speed of 120 words per minute it may be hard to ask you to go.
On the job proper, it's an exciting field and a very tasking one cos you will be producing official Court proceedings on a daily basis.

The first 3months of training they said they won't pay us,will they combine and add it to the 4th month salary?

If you want to leave after the 1year training, would you still have to pay them back the salaries you have been receiving after the 1year training?

What is the assurance that we will be all absorbed by the govt,how many courtrooms are there in Benin to accommodate 100 stenographers

I would not know. I am neither a staff of Nafs nor an official of Edo State government.
Ours was for a Federal Agency and we were paid a stipend right from the first month.

Leaving after 1 year may be hard if you're passing the tests. Perhaps if you have made up your mind to leave, why not forget the training?
As for the number of courtrooms in Edo State, I wouldn't know but as you are in Benin, you will have an idea more than me that is in Abuja. One courtroom can have up to 3 reporters cos we are human and one day, someone may not come to work and again you can share days if you're more than one in a courtroom.

I don't know why you guys are still talking about this job....If I had known from day one, I would not have wasted my time writing test upon test..

Well. Update especially for those who dropped this job. We have been addressed and the Bond is off. No more bond. And we are getting appointment letter after the first 3months and salary according to the Edo state judiciary salary structure. Its only the 1st 3 months we will be paid stipends.

Please how much is the pay after the first three months ?

This type of recruitment is happening in Lagos from tomorrow, will Science Education (B. ED) graduate be considered in the process?

Please can anyone who was successfully employed give us an information on the job and maybe the pay. Some of us are in the final stage , for Lagos state. Thank you.
