 CNN on scene reporter, Stephanie Busari has taking to twitter to share her story of how extreme family and parental pressure drove her into bad marriage. She further revealed that the only joyful thing she left the marriage with is her beautiful daughter, but she also left the marriage with bag full of regrets She explained in details saying "MarriageStory Ten years ago today I got married. It lasted 3 years and I came away with a beautiful daughter and a heart full of (some) regrets. Does one mark such an auspicious occasion? Or just quietly acknowledge as one of the hopes and dreams that didn’t quite pan out? Despite all my achievements, I was flying high in my career. I had bought a flat, all before 30, I felt like a failure because I wasn’t married. Parents have their own timeline for your life. You must create and embrace yours and BE HAPPY with your choices. I got married largely due to pressure. It enveloped me like a cloud. Every time an embossed handwritten envelope thudded through the letter box ‘inviting the pleasure of my parents’ company.’ I heard my mother’s heavy sigh, my father’s questioning glances. 10 years later, and I am still so sad at how miserable I was. My ex-husband was not a bad person, but we were just desperately incompatible. Even I was surprised we ended up together! Make sure and be doubly sure and be sure again before you say I do” She ended her story with an advice for young women She said “These women feel like Mr Right Now is better than Mr Right, as long as they become a Mrs. Please DON’T do it! The sadness of an unhappy marriage and home seeps into your soul. It is crushing and turns you into a shell of who you are” She later appreciated the kind gesture and encouragement received from her followers. Blame the people who tag unmarried women as "evening newspaper" or parents who tell their daughters "women are like a flower" or "evening time done dey reach for you. At the end of the day, it is you who wears the shoe that will feel the pain. All those who gathered to eat and drink on the wedding won't be there when you're living your nightmare. My Advice to anyone who intends to Marry, Especially the ladies, Talk to GOD about your Marriage.. be spiritually alert to know when Messages are given.. Well, I've heard all the pressures in this world to last me a lifetime and I ain't falling for such traps. Nothing anyone will tell me, that I've not heard before , so pressuring me? I will just block you straight! I don't have time to be pressured into another form of depression. Because if you marry the wrong man? It's worse than being single. There will be too many regrets and sorrows attached to it. Anyways my family and friends know me. Leave jeje and lemme make my own decision at my own God given time. Simple. |
